He Claimed More Than Land

I enjoyed this story with its cats of interesting and characters with their complex family relationships, including a man who closes himself off to love as he tries to be his own person. I enjoyed the details about the first land run, and some of the challenges faced both during and afterwards. A great read.

A spoiled man from childhood, wants to embark upon n the land rush into Oklahoma territory to start a brick business that can only blossom under the booming families moving there. But his father says fir him to get the help from him he must be married.
His father has a skeem up his sleeve. To keep his grandson in the family ( unknown to his son that his sister had a child) he arranges for the baby and his nursemaid ( and wet nurse) to go to Kansas to marry and make them a family. Can this spoiled young man that has nothing to do with anyone but his business find it in his heart to love? To love his new wife and to love his new baby? When there is trials and conflicts and a kidnapping he does have to think twice at how much he does love them!
At the beginning of this story this author gives you a little bit of actual true to life status that happened and she wrote it within the book. I find that wonderful and makes the book seem so much more real knowing things did in fact take place either like or similar to the way she wrote about it.
There is no sexual references or language so anyone that wants a good clean book I can recommend this ( and any of Ms Masterson’s books) for you to read

The Oklahoma Land Run resulted in interesting and life changing events for many families. This is Hetty Fields and Michael Brewster's story, and the character development for each is outstanding. Michael is a self-made man who is used to having his demands met, and he now is in need of a wife but wants one in name only, and she must meet his demands of no ties, no love and she must be honest. When Hetty arrives late and with an undisclosed baby his best laid plans soon go awry. Be sure and read this excellent story to find out if Hetty and the baby are able to crack Michael's hard shell and weave their way into his heart. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Michael and Hetty

This is a cute almost mail order bride love tale. Michael is the son of a very well to do family that ruled his life with a very firm hand.He is pushing back trying to be his own man and he heads to the Oklahoma land rush. Hetty is his bride arriving on the train shortly before the rush begins. They must hurry to wed and get on the line ready to go. Still finding his fathers long reach to interfere in his life his bride arrives with an infant and a nurse maid. There is lots of excitement and adventure along with a budding love. You will enjoy discovering how they find their happily ever after.

This was a good story! Michael's father has picked out his bride-to-be. Michael isn't happy, but he'll go along with it to get what he wants. Hetty has always admired Michael, and in order to raise Eddy and have her mom taken care of, she'll travel to marry Michael. When Michael falls in love with her, will they be able to continue to be the family they've become, or will his sister's arrival change everything? The path was hard, but worth it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.

Settling the West took courage and a popular way to open new territories were Land Runs. This book shows how things happened in the first land run in Oklahoma.
Michael Brewster needs a wife. He doesn't necessarily want a wife. He wants no ties. But he needs honesty to be able to trust again.
Hetty Fields arrives late, and messing with his perfect schedule, and upsetting his perfect plan when she arrives with a baby!
Characters are wonderful and well written. You are going to enjoy the way Hetty works her way into his cold heart. Get your copy today and read!!

From the Preface

"Edwward Brewster meant to right a wrong. At least, he viewed it from that perspective. The man believed that his life would have been sweeter, a more content existence, if a certain woman had been his wife. He meant to live that life through his son. After all, what good was a man’s offspring if he couldn’t use him for his own purpose? And maybe he might benefit as well from that marriage."

good read

Another good read from Marisa Masterson. Hetty stuck a dear with Brewster father to merry Brewster. So off she goes to merry him with part of the deal. A baby, Brewster’s sister’s baby. Hetty and Brewster are married and the land run starts so off they go for their land. Will they get it, will these two fall in love, will Brewster’s sister come for the baby. Just never know unless you read the book. Very nice and enjoyable.

Quick Read!
This story was a quick read. It was interesting and moved along nicely and I enjoyed it.
The characters are well thought out, each playing their role effortlessly and bringing the story of Michael and Hetty's romance and life together to us.
I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) and my voluntary review above is unbiased.

Land Run Romance

Hettie and Michael have their work cut out for them. Claiming land in the land run, starting a business, getting married to a ready made family with a baby but Hettie takes everything in stride. Exciting love story. This story reminds us that love and marriage are worth the work you put into it.

Enjoyed

I found this to be well written and interesting. A well thought out story line. It is good to see that mental illness is addressed in stories. It seems few people wish to touch on these matters. As always as in most cases denial is present then realization that the issues are much deeper.

Sweet Historical Romance

They sure started out rough, but at least she new who he was before they married. I'm not sure I understand how the elder Edward was so gruff in the beginning, but later seemed a lot more mellow.
I loved how Michael was so drawn to her! I also enjoyed his explanation for staying distant from her in the beginning.

Brewster’s Baby, the fourth installment of the multiple author Land Run Mail-Order Bride series, is a quick and enjoyable read. With engaging characters, a well-structured plot featuring some complicated family dynamics, interesting historical detail, and a dash of sweet romance, this should be a satisfying read for fans of historical romance.
