something (such as a surviving custom) that remains from what is past
If anyone would have warned thirty-two-year April Showers about the disaster waiting to happen during the exchange of nuptials, she probably wouldn’t have shown up. Overnight, ratchetness that was usually highlighted on TV, had turned into her reality. When she becomes the new biology professor at Charles Holdings University and acquires a new place of her own, things start to look up for the part time shadow performer. That’s until she collides with her mysteriously, handsome, first floor neighbor Siege Assets. One night of mind blowing sex morphs into something she may not be ready for.
Okay Wynta! That was one of the messiest beginnings that I have ever seen girl! Damn! What the hell were they thinking, or call themselves doing???? Miss April was a whole vibe! She was living her best life on her own terms, and beating men at their own game! Until she met Siege. Siege Assets has gone through it during his life, but has decided that his best is yet to come. The cat and mouse game that they played was pretty cute, until real feelings began. Siege was everything that April needed, and changed her entire outlook of intimacy and relationships. I was not prepared for the barrage of emotions I felt when April revealed what happened to her. Whew..... and then the connection that Richard had with Siege! Ma'am I was picking my mouth up off the floor!! I loved that these two found happiness together, after all of their losses! Good job!👍👍👍
Mrs. Wynta it has been a minute since I read one of your masterpieces and this one did not disappoint. Seige came into April's life and pivot it for the better. He was the motivator to push her on the road to healing. He was also intelligent, and his knowledge and love for plants were unmatched. It was refreshing to read how April turned her life around that "hot girl" title slowly dissipated. It broke my 💔 reading all she endured as a child.
I love when love wins. April's mom was able to break free of her toxicity and experience true love. May let go of her dead weight and started to "live." And April met a man that truly loved her. In my opinion, it's always a great book when love conquers all.
I liked the story, I did not love it. I guess for my narrowed point of view, there's too much family dipping in the wrong pots and in the same pots for me to thoroughly enjoy this storyline. The characters' names were so cute corny though. And the closure part had me gasping and clutching my pearls.
I enjoyed this story so much! This book was referred to me by a friend and it's my first full Wynta Tyme book and I must say, I have been missing out! This book had the potential to be a 5 star and beyond read because of the amazing character development, plot, intensity, humor and more. I can tell this author really took her time with the characters and first half of the story. It's the last half that kind of threw me off. There was a very important part of the story, that although resolved, felt like it was more brushed under the 8ft rug. There really could and should have been more to that part because of the seriousness of the situation. It left me feeling unfulfilled, only about this part, but had just a little more attention been put into the resolution, this story would have checked off all the boxes of a 5 star read to me. Seigel is everything I would want in a partner. Kind, loving, attentive, intelligent, determined, and more. He was really one of the best men I've read about. April and May were a hot gurl mess but I LOVED them! September was a fierce Mama Bear and I have so much respect for her. I can't wait to read more from this author! I'm a fan!
When I tell you Ms. Wynta Tyme doesn’t miss, babyyyyy I mean it! You get the FULL course meal reading her work and I love that ! I loved every part of that the book! Slight trigger warning for some who of those who were inappropriately handled as an adolescent ; HOWEVER, the author doesn’t dwell on the topic long and breezes by it expeditiously! September I think was my favorite female character. She was just so smooth with all her actions and I love that for her after all she went through!! I absolutely LOVE Siege! I knew from jump when May gave her warning and September gave her blessing lol that April was STUCK and would soon be hooked on phonics hahahaha!!! But after what April and Siege went through I’m happy they were able to both heal from past trauma and love each other !! I just LOVE how he loved, nurtured and protected her . In the small ways and big ways . But the fact she took care of him the way she did made me tear up . He deserved that chance at redemption! 10/10 highly recommend
April is a girl who just wants to have fun. But she meets her new neighbor Siege, and maybe she thinks she wants a little more. But she'll fight it as long as she can.
So, this started with a wedding and a whole heap of drama that felt superfluous. I didn't really need all of that. I liked April and Siege, and April's mom and sister. I liked that Siege was a botanist--I don't think I've ever read a botanist romance before. He fell first, which was super cute but April was jealous when he moved on, which was cute too. April was accomplished and I loved that for her. Finding out about the trauma in her past was a bit shocking. That was deeper than I thought. But I liked that Siege wanted to help her heal and finally get to where she wanted to be. He was a place of safety; that was my favorite part.
This was short but what a rollercoaster. Off the bat there was family drama then moved into the romance between April and Siege. I wasn't expecting that both characters had some really traumatic stuff happened to them but their healing journey was folded into the story which was really important. April was molested and raped as a child and Siege was raped in jail. There were a couple of typos but outside of that it was a solid 3.5 star read
CN: rape (on page as a memory)/molestation from a family member, rape in jail and branding, cheating, divorce, car accident death, death of a caregiver, murder and coverup, sex work
I can see why other readers enjoyed this book, but it just wasn’t a good fit for me. I toggled between two stars and three stars for the rating. I didn’t care for the writing. The typos were distracting. Parts of the story were cringy and ridiculous. I decided to round up to three stars because the storyline was interesting enough to hold me attention until the end. There was so much dysfunction and trauma in the story. It felt overdone. The romance element was nice. Siege was a great protector and provider.
One night stand?! This short one night stand romance was well written, flowed well and kept my attention from beginning to end. What was supposed to be a one night stand turned into a hot steamy romance between April and Sierge. I loved how September and May bossed up and got rid of their cheating husbands. The character development of April was awesome. Sierge helped her to heal from her past and got rid of the person that was causing her distress. Great read and definitely worth reading.
This was powerful. The message behind the title, overcoming past trauma you thought wasn’t at a time. Wheww, thank you for this beautifully, refreshing journey. All I can think of is hope when I got to the end.
Seige 🥹 to see a man invested in not only the body but the heart, mind, and spirit of his woman. MmMmMm I loved her healing journey and I loved that he made sure he was by her side helping her through it all. Ugh my heart
