MARRIAGE TO A STRANGER

Laura had been half in love with David from the moment they met, but her opinion of his employer, D. Jonathan Lattimer, was far from complimentary.

Then one morning she awoke to find herself married--to David Jonathan Lattimer! Trapped in marriage to a man she had sworn to hate, a man who thought she had trapped him, how could Laura ever explain that she loved her husband?

He was a stranger to her--no longer the gentle man who had kissed and courted her. But even as he made plans to tear her from his life, she knew he was the only man who would ever fill her heart.

“How was your day? Have you adjusted to the horror of being my wife?”

- The H -

It’s a strange story. It started off really well with a besotted H in pursuit of the h. But then the story takes a sudden twist and they get married in a ceremony which she can’t remember (huh?) and he suddenly thinks she’s a gold-digger. I don’t understand where all that came from.

The first part of the book was 4 stars, the second part (after the marriage ceremony) 2 stars. So 3 stars it is.

It's rare that I can tell you exactly what the problem is with an author's work. First, the dialogue was terrible. The more emotional the discussion, the more sentences it took. I won't say this book was unreadable, but pretty close. Second, there was zero chemistry or steam. Third, all of the secondary characters except for one talked exactly the same way, and were all pro-H. As a result, they came across as robots.

Easy to read. A lot of suspense. Didn’t like it because I don’t think that they could have forgiven each other even if in the end it was because they love each other. Jonathan was really mean with her. He even seemed to assault her physically... We are far from feminism that’s for sure...

Couldn't finish. Lots of cliches, "his eyes seized hers and held them tightly in a paralyzing, hypnotic spell."

I thought this would be a cute story, as it started out good, but then it just got more and more ridiculous! She jumped to all sorts of conclusions as to the type of man he was (she was wrong) and he thought she was a conniving gold digger, which was completely unjust! Neither one would admit to their true feelings and traded insults instead, naturally!

What's really a waste (not to mention dumb) is that the h had a talent for landscaping and at the start it looked as if the story would be about her working at the mansion of the elusive millionaire who owned the building where she was responsible for caring for the plants, and whom she didn't think highly of, while falling for his "employee". More could have been made of that, instead of wasting time with the H and h hiding their true feelings.

And what nincompoop drinks alcohol after taking medication (and in this case, someone else's prescription)??? Only a h with a head full of air instead of brains! No wonder she thought she gave up her V card when it was still in her possession!
