One Night #4

Desires We Seek

Rate this book
Hudson feels like the black sheep of his friends. He can’t hold a steady job, lives in a crappy apartment above a take-out Chinese restaurant, and never settles down with anyone.

The only time it’s ever felt like he was doing something right in his life is when he was with Owen. But there’s one slight problem: Owen is married.

Bound in holy matrimony. Off the market. Unavailable. Untouchable. A no-go, if you will.

Yet, once they’re all together in Tokyo, he can’t help noticing the way Owen’s wife keeps looking at him, always catching his gaze. And when they finally venture to the kink club Hudson hasn’t been able to shut up about, the married couple makes a very tempting proposal.

It might be unconventional. But Owen and Aurora might be exactly what Hudson needs.

After finishing the third book of the One night series earlier this month and seeing that the fourth and hopefully not last book was published in November as well, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

In ‘Desires we keep’ we follow Hudson, or Pyro as he is called by his friends. He is unhappy in love and didn’t realize it until his best friend had to agree to an arranged marriage and is now happily married and in love with his wife, or so it seems. A night in some sort of a sex-club brings Hudson closer to Owen and his wife Aurora and closer to an unconventional form of love and relationship that Hudson didn’t think he could hope for.

Pyro must be my favorite of the bunch. I liked him in the first three books whenever we got to see him, even though it was always a short period of time, but I was looking forward to his story. It didn’t disappoint. I liked the spicy bits just as much as the rest, even though of course there wasn’t too much plot involved like with all the other books in the series. My only complaint would be that I would have liked it to be a little longer.

Dana has killed it again. I have been waiting for a Pyro book since Games We Play.

Hudson and his friends are taking a vacation in Tokyo. It comes to surprise that when they go to a sex club Owen and Aurora invited him to join them.

This books makes you run laps then either grab your significant other or the special friend in the drawer. Dana knows how to write the smut 🥵🥵🥵

If you’re looking for plot this is not your book. This is a completely spicy book. We are seeing how Owen and Hudson’s relationship goes from them to building a great Poly relationship with Aurora.

Danaaaaa with the poly relationship! We see it and we love it!
We knew that the relationship between Hudson and Owen was nowhere near over. We are so glad that Aurora was supportive of Owen, and even interested in having her own relationship with Hudson. The sex cluuuuub was 🔥🔥 and we mean that 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮. We learned some interesting things about ourselves when Pyro started lighting Aurora up!
This absolutely might be our favorite of the One Night Series!

Favorite book of the entire series.
I was rooting for Pyro since day one.
If you’re curious about his future.. & want the most smut you’ve ever read in a book.. buy this.
This is 🥵 like kinks galore. 🔥 🤤
My husband also rated this book 5 stars without even reading it (wink wink).

Loved this one! I was able to read this book as an ARC before release and I devoured it! Dana was so worried bc this book is mostly smut and not exactly a lot of plot but It Makes Sense. The story feels like it’s exactly what it needed to be about Pyro and Owen and Aurora. And the extra chapters letting us catch a glimpse of the next book and novella?? Yes please?? I look forward to Greg’s story! I love how in this story you get to see some of Pyro’s past and how genuinely great his friend circle is. I’m sure it meant the world to him and I’m glad he’s accepting everything that was just given to him.

Listen, sometimes the spice is the plot, okay?

For real though, given that this is the 4th in this series of novellas, we've already had glimpses of Pyro/Hudson and a full novella of Owen and Aurora, so the information necessary to build up their relationship is not as much as you'd expect. I was able to jump into this story feeling like I already had the backstory I needed.

That being said, the spice really is the point of this one and it's so good. Dana writes some of the best spice and every book of hers that I read cements that opinion! This book was hot from beginning to end. She delivers everything I expect from her, plus some new to me things that only kicked it up a notch.

I also really just loved the way the 3 of them interacted with each other. Aurora and Owen's relationship is one of my favourites and I love how they encourage each other explore and be themselves completely. And watching Pyro/Hudson as he moves through various emotions over the course of the book was wonderful. It truly made my heart so happy for him.

*While these are standalone novellas in a series, I absolutely recommend reading them in order.

I think I have a new favorite of the series!
This book was hot! No pun intended with the fire play 😉
I loved everything about this book. MM isn’t typically a trope I go for but damn, I might have to find some more to read now.

I really liked how accepting all of his friends were about it (especially Quin rooting for them since the wedding).

Cannot wait for the next book. I received an ARC copy of this book and finished it in about 2.5 hours, I couldn’t stop reading.

PYRO!!! ❤️‍🔥 Been waiting for his story!

Pyro and Owen are my fav. It’s a novella, so I wasn’t expecting much plot, but I’m so glad we got this story. Spice was off the charts. WE LOVE TO SEE IT.

I really didn’t like Burdens We Carry and debated on continuing in the series, but this book fixed everything for me. I HAVE to know what goes down with Greg and Ivy!!

Current overall thoughts for the series:

Secrets We Hunt > Games We Play > Desires We Seek > Burdens We Carry

Pyro/Owen/Aurora > Wes/Zoë > Jack/Quinlan > Owen/Aurora (if that makes sense lol, you gotta read it to understand)

Oh mannnnn. Dana Isaly never fails to bring the heat and Desires We Seek was no exception! I admit MMF isn’t a go to for me, but every once in awhile I’ll pick one up and I AM GLAD I DID WITH THIS ONE.

Not only did we get to explore kinks you don’t always get to read about (fire play, anyone?) but many of our fav couples reunite as well.

Not only will this book leave you in quite the state, it will also have you wishing for more!

This is sort of a continuation of the previous book featuring Owen and Aurora, but this time Pyro is in the mix, it explores a MMF polyamourours relationship between Owen, Pyro and Aurora as well as some wax, fire play I think is what it's called. Very steamy and smutty.

I think this might be my favorite entry in the One Night Series since “Secrets We Hunt” (AKA Wes and Zoe’s story). Once you read this book you might see there’s a shared kink between that book and this book, and that totally has something to do with it, but another reason I loved this book was because I really and truly have a deep and abiding love for MMF romances where the female is willing, ready and able to embrace her male partner’s desires for the same sex and wants to join in. The human has the capacity for infinite amounts of love; it’s just each of us as individuals that determine if we have the ability to open our hearts in that way.

I don’t want to ruin too much about this book, but I can tell you that there isn’t much in the way of plot. This is mainly Pyro’s story, but it’s almost an extended epilogue, in a way, to “Burdens We Carry” (Owen and Aurora’s story). This entry in the One Night series takes place about six months after Owen and Aurora’s wedding when the whole group of friends this series centers around gets together for a rare group vacation in Tokyo. Jack, Quinlan, Owen, Aurora, and Pyro all decide to go out for a night of racy and spicy fun… but Owen and Aurora have a proposition for Pyro. I think you can likely guess where this is going.

What follows is a book that’s about 60% MMF spicy goodness. I don’t know about you, but that’s a dang good time in my opinion.

I want to take a time out to address how Dana Isaly writes her mm interactions: I don’t know if anyone of her other readers feel like this, but I really and truly wish she would take the plunge and write a full-on gay romance. She’s written RH/Why Choose with mm content, MMF, and a mm short story, but never a full-length mm romance, and I’m dying to see her attempt it. I know every author has their comfort zones and knows what they want to write and what they’re comfortable writing, but she’s just so good at writing male characters and the spicy scenes she does write for her bisexual male characters are already so well written I feel like if she took the plunge it would be fire.

As with the other books in this series, the book isn’t going to make sense if you haven’t read the rest of the series (especially if you haven’t read “Secrets We Hunt” or “Burdens We Carry” in this case), but it’s a worthy entry indeed.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Best one yet! Reading Owen get married in the previous book always felt bittersweet to me as felt like part of his heart was with pyro. So this book just made me so happy I could cry. So much spicy and kinky content but also so much emotion. Loved the connection between the mcs and also all the other side characters from the series. Outstanding! I’m already ready for round 2 😏

MORE CASUALLY BI MEN! Owen and Husdon are so in love but it takes Aurora to finally bridge that little gap they've always had between them is the sweet poly relationship I wanted to read about.

I've been waiting for Pyro's books since Games We Play and it did not disappoint. The glimpse of him and Owen in Secrets We Hunt was adorable, and hearing Owen's side in burdens was heartbreaking. So this felt like the perfect way they'd come together.

Also, Hudson and Owen have a history - they already love each other, and Owen and Aurora are head over heels for each other as well. And it seems that Hudson and Aurora are a hair's width away from falling for each other too.

Tropes :
Maried couple and husband's best friend
MMF/Poly
Sex Club / kinks

Dana did not lie with this one : she warned it was all smut! And it was, and was here for it 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Owen and Aurora were already my favorite couple of the series, but add Pyro to the mix and you get a f***ing explosion 💥
It was hot but also sweet 🔥❤️ loved the reunion between Owen and Hudson, and the fact that Aurora was so supportive of her husband and his past.
I would love to have another book about them, following their life when they return from Tokyo. 👀❤️

This has been one of my favorite novella series since book one! They’re quick and fun, yet don’t feel like novellas. This one had a little bit of fire play which was new to me.

Also can’t wait for Greg’s story next!!!

This book was EXACTLY what I needed to read after the rough few weeks I’ve had.
It was short, spicy, and has wonderful characters/a great friend group.
I can’t wait for the next installment!
