When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
Cassie is the new manager of a pizza restaurant in Miami. Of course, I love the setting, though I'm not a huge fan of pizza, but I am a fan of Benning's and was excited for this new mystery series. On Cassie's first day of work, A man dies in the bathroom. But not just any man--a man who lived in her building with his wife. And so the mystery begins and suspicion is raised. I did not see the ending coming.
This looks like it'll be a fun new series by one of my fave cozy authors. I'm glad I did at least read the first book in the Papa Pacelli series, so I was familiar with Ellie's character. I've been meaning to get back to the original series but definitely wanted in on the ground floor of starting to read this one.
I liked Cassie's character a lot, and her sister cracked me up sometimes. I could only imagine how poor Cassie felt finally getting her dream job and having her younger sib show up. Bridget was a very enthusiastic amateur sleuth, and Cassie knew Ellie had solved some cases in her town as well. The girls seemed to sleuth pretty well together, so maybe it'll just work out for Bridget to stay. I wasn't sure I'd like her at first with how she kinda invaded her sister's space uninvited, but she grew on me as only a younger sib can.
I wasn't ever totally sure whodunit, and the showdown was a good one, yay Bridget for her quick thinking. I'm really eager to borrow the next book in KU and see what happens with Bridget (stay or go?) and see how Cassie's friendship goes with a new guy she met.
In this new spin-off series from the Papa Pacelli franchise, we meet Cassie the new manager of their Miami branch. She is excited to run the pizza store as her own but her first day turns into less than ideal when she finds a dead body oh her first full day.
She’ll have more than cold pizza to worry about as she will have to find a killer as well. Fans of the original series will enjoy these quick paced story.
Another will written murder mystery family relationships adventure thriller short story by Patti Benning (Miami Slice Cozy Mysteries book 1). Cassie is working her first day as the new manager of the pizza 🍕 parlor when a man 🚹 is found dead in the bathroom 🚻. Her sister moves in after dropping out of collage and the fun begins. I would recommend this cute novella and author to 👍 readers looking for a quick murder mystery novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening to different types of books 📚. 2022 👒😊
A charming spin off from the original series. Of course as owner Ellie crosses over to this series which focuses on the Florida branch of the pizza shop. And of course the storyline is engaging as I have come to expect from this author. The mystery was well plotted with an unexpected bad guy and some amateur sleuthing by the new manager who has taken over the shop from Linda. I anticipate this series will be every bit as fun as the original. Definitely an entertaining read!
I love that the series is continued on the Papa Pacelli's Pizzeria. It is keeping Eleanora Ward connected. Cassandra McNeil (Cassie) is now new management after Linda left to live with her daughter. Cassie was trained well from Linda and it's her first day running the Pizzeria on her own, she has great employees in place and the day starts out great. She also moved into a great apartment, she doesn't know anyone yet, but she sees this older couple in building a few times. Not very friendly, but she goes on with day. As the morning goes on, she notices her neighbors are in the restaurant, she serves them and notices the man is not well, but she goes on. She gets a call from her younger sister saying she is in her apartment, why? The women with is worried, he's in the restroom too long. Cassie is now having to close down the Pizzeria on her first day. She has to call Ellie in Maine. Now the restaurant is closed and her younger sister is at her apartment, she has to figure out what is going on. So now the investigation begins!!!! You have to read to find out. Why?
I really like the series about the original pizzeria, since Ellie (the owner) is really likable. The manager of the Miami store is sometimes a little whiny.
Admittedly, having a death in the pizzeria on her first day of work was stressful. The series could improve if she gets over worrying about her job and arguing with her annoying younger sister.
On her first day managing the pizza parlor on her own a man dies mysteriously in the restroom. This closes the pizzeria for a few days and they have to wait for the autopsy. In addition to that her sister drops out of college and shows up needing a place to stay. A fun easy reading mystery.
This is a great new series by Patti Benning. It's kind of a continuation of the Papa Pacelli series but set at the store in Florida. It has great characters so far.
This is the first story in the author’s spinoff of her previous pizzeria series. I liked the interaction between the new pizzeria manager and her sister. A quick read.
Fast read and straight to the point. My book was missing page 82 but I don't think I missed anything important. I'm curious where these sisters are heading and excited to continue on to book 2.
A cozy mystery set in a Miami pizzeria. It follows Cassie who is new in town and the new manager of the pizzeria. On her first day as manager a man dies at her restaurant and she investigates if foul play was involved. The story didn't flow well for me and the ending felt rushed and didn't make sense. Unfortunately, will not continue with this series.
