The first book in an addictive Greek Mythology Romance series, perfect for fans of Raven Kennedy, Scarlett St. Clair and Jennifer Armentrout.

Why does Ares, the god of war, want me dead?

Cameras, makeup, hair, designer clothing…

In the mortal world, I am my beauty. No one sees beyond it. And it’s been that way for the last 250 years.

Day in and day out—the same.

Until my sister, Janie, dies.

With my world newly shattered, I turn to the only person powerful enough to do something about it—my mother, the goddess Aphrodite…

Who happens to be kind of a bitch.

Regardless, good ol’ Mom informs me that Janie’s soul has been captured by the most hated of the gods, Ares. And he’s keeping Janie hostage in the deepest level of the underworld, the Fifth Gate.

Determined to rescue Janie and with Aphrodite’s ‘blessing’, I travel to the First Gate, the entry point to the Underworld, a hellscape of exploding volcanoes, ashy air and death as far as the eye can see.

Yeah, it’s no Club Med.

Anyway, it’s here I meet the famed Adonis who, in case you were wondering, definitely lives up to his legendary hotness. Unfortunately for him, though, he’s playing sex slave to the power-hungry Queen Azhrea, the ruler of the First Gate (who incidentally insists he wear only a loincloth).

Man-thongs aside, it isn’t long before Azhrea’s army captures me and delivers me to General Adonis. Now imprisoned, I’m at his mercy. And although it seems like Adonis wants to help me, I’m not sure I can trust him because Azhrea’s influence might be too strong.

And even if I’m lucky enough to escape Azhrea and the First Gate, how I am supposed to survive the next four? Not to mention the final face-off with Ares, who wants my head on a silver platter, owing to the hatred he harbors for my mother.

What’s that old phrase about the ‘sins of the parent being visited on the children’?

Yeah, touché.

This newest entry in the world of Greek mythic romance will grip you with plenty of sexy gods, multiple POVs, a kick-ass heroine, magic, mystery and danger.

WRATH OF THE GODS is a medium-burn romance that’s rated 18 + owing to quite a few F-bombs, captive situations, and graphic descriptions of man-thongs. Oh, and it ends in a cliffhanger. You’ve been warned.

I’m a huge fan of anything paranormal and I always have been. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always attract my attention.

My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to live in England and Scotland, both places really having a profound effect on my books.

Thanks for checking out my books and I hope you enjoy them! Happy Haunting!

I am always down for tales involving Greek mythology. The gods and goddesses fascinate me, and I love reading different takes on their lives. Wrath of the Gods is set in modern times. Penelope is the daughter of the Aphrodite. Half-goddess and half-human but all immortal. Unhappy with her life, Penelope trudges through, knowing she has the support of her sister, Janie. When Janie is unceremoniously ripped away from Penelope, there is only one thing to do.

Penelope lands on her mother’s doorstep. Asking Aphrodite for any favors is taxing. Even more so when she wants entry into the Underworld to rescue Janie. Janie’s soul took the express route straight to the Fifth Gate, overseen by Ares, God of War. Apparently, there’s bad blood between Aphrodite and Ares, because why wouldn’t there be?!

Wrath of the Gods is a breath of fresh air in the world of Greek mythology. The world built by HP Mallory and JR Rain is vibrant and full of detail and the characters are multi-faceted and complex. The story is engaging and full of action and adventure. I was immersed in the story of Penelope and the Greek Gods woven throughout the tale.

Penelope has it all money , good looks and a job that well would make you envious . She is not having it anymore she is tired of being passed around by her agent . On one fateful night she is shaken to her core. Her sister Janie dies and Pen is out to get her back from the depths of hell . Oh did I forget to tell you that Penelope is the doughtier of Aphrodite and she needs her mothers help to go and find her sister's soul in hell . What she doesn't realize that her sister was taken by Ares to the 5th circle of hell and she has to get through each gate to get her . With the help of Adonis will Pen make it through the first gate and defeat Azhrea the first gate keeper . Will she survive the first gate and will she be able to defeat Ares before he declares war on Mount Olympia,
Ok if you love Greek mythology you will love these characters . Penelope is a demigoddess and honestly I don't think she likes being what she is now . She is gorgeous and poised people want to be around her . Her agent takes advantage of that and uses her big time . She doesn't realize how strong she actually is . At first she comes off a little naive in some ways but as you read she gets to be a stronger warrior woman . It takes her awhile but she does come into her own. Adonis well he is a man caught in a web of a evil woman . He is strong and sexy but can not think for himself . When he meets Penelope there is a stirring inside him that makes him want to help her and keep her safe . We also get to meet Ares and Aphrodite in this book . All the characters are well written and complex .
If you love Greek mythology this is the book for you . We get to meet a lot of of the Gods and Goddess and we get to fall in love with them. The characters are well written and you really come to care for the main characters . The authors paint a great landscape for the characters to play in . The story was good and it flowed well the authors can write very well together . I did find at the beginning I found that it was just a little slow . Once you hit chapter three the story goes full throttle and you will be up all night . Over all I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see more of these characters and the rest of the gates . So if you want a great story for your summer reading list check it out

Fun

This was a fun Greek mythology take. It has gods and goddesses both major and minor. This was a fun fast read that I enjoyed. I can't wait to read the next book.

DNF’ed at 35% and skimmed the rest. I skimmed to confirm my suspicions that the twists and turns I read about in other reviews were predictable and really just plot points. This is an okay story, but I think it’ll be difficult for many readers to connect to an MC whose cross to bear is her beauty - and her curse but we don’t really get into that as much as how much we are reminded of her beauty. This wasn’t a case of I disliked the MC so o didn’t like the book. I disliked the MC but that was because she was flat and lacked dimension and full characterization.

Then the catalyst occurs and a huge chunk of writing is repetitive backstory that tells us the Gods of Olympus fit their traditional personality types seen in many popular writings. I can root for a lot of clearly unqualified heroines, but her character wasn’t developed enough for me to believe she was anything more complex than a young girl, despite that she was hundreds of years old and appeared mid-20s.

I think if a reader can connect with Penelope, they’ll enjoy the book much more than I did. Ares and Hades seem like more interesting characters that drive the story some more, so it’s too bad they appear so much later in the story.

Gods and Monsters of the Greek Underworld. Excellent start to a new series.

This is the first book in a new Greek Mythology Romance series, from authors HP Mallory and JR Rain writing as Mallory Rain. As the genre would suggest, this series is set in the Greek underworld and is filled with angry, vengeful gods and goddesses. There are descriptive scenes of a sexual nature as well as of imprisonment.

Penelope is a 250 year old demigoddess, daughter of Aphrodite and currently stuck living on the mortal plane. When the woman she considers her sister (a mortal descendant of her human father’s family line) is killed and her soul taken by Ares, Penelope vows to head to the underworld and rescue her. If only it were that simple.

So begins Penelope’s journey through the various gates of the underworld, looking for Janie’s soul. She’s on a strict time limit and who knows how time passes in the underworld compared with the mortal plane.

Naturally, all does not go to plan. The underworld is bleak and unforgiving. Even a demigoddess can perish here. Her chances of surviving are not great, much less her chances of passing through all the gates in time.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing is good, the worldbuilding is interesting and I think this story has a lot of potential. The book ends on a cliffhanger and just makes me want to dive headfirst into book two.

Penelope is the daughter of the goddess, Aphrodite. She lives in the mortal world modeling; her mother has cursed her~ The only ones who can see past her looks are those of her bloodline. Her “little sister” is one of the family members who can do just that and they are very very close. When she receives a call that her sister dies, she goes to her mother because she needs to save her. She will have to travel to the Underworld on a journey to recover certain artifacts in a certain amount of time or else she will stay there~ Ares and Hades are the reason her sister is missing in a case of mistaken identity. As Pen struggles to find her way, she is helped by someone else. In return, she will have to help this new friend and another imprisoned by the keeper to the First Gate. This book is well written, has enough suspense to keep you glued to it, and is not even near the original tales in other books about the gods and goddesses of Olympus. This book ends in a cliffhanger and promises to be a great new series~

Actual Star Rating 3.5

This big surprised me in a good way. to keep it short, this was not my first choice to read this week, but I picked it up and am glad I did This was a fun and different take on Greek Mythology.

I love how this series will be a quest through the underworld to save a kidnapped soul. It blends various Greek myths to make something new, modern, and intriguing. The Book focuses on Penelope (daughter of Aphrodite) and how she will sacrifice it all to save her sister from Ares. Pen is a fun character who has ignored or god-like side, which ends up being the biggest hindrance to her quest. We see her fumble her way through the underworld unsure and unaware but we get to see how she begins to find out (slowly) who she is and what she is made/destined for and we just got a taste of it in this book.

This was a great villain in this book, someone you love to hate and can't wait to see get her just due. Ares and Hades seem like very interesting characters and can't wait to find out more about them and what part they will play on Pen's journey.

This book is a twist to your Greek Mythology.
Pen is unhappy with her job and how she has to live on earth with a curse only her and her sister know about. her sister is her only family she clams. Although she is human, she has a heart like a God. You can just tell from the first chapter.

As the story goes on Penelope has lost her sister and needs to save her soul. Good thing she is the daughter of Aphrodite. Penelope hasn't talked to her mom in centuries. Perfect time to show up and ask for a favor.

Not everyone likes Aphrodite. That doesn't work well for Pen. We watch as Penelope gets permission to go to the 5th gate and start a quest that is life changing in more ways than one. We meet some new friends along the way. Also, A yummy treat named Adonis.

Throughout this book you are going to be surprised with all the twist and turns you go through. you will be reading as fast as you can. Great start. Everyone should get this book and get ready for the next one.

This story was fairly unusual. It seemed to take the concepts of PNR and Greek myth just a little bit different direction. I was prepared to enjoy the story, even though I did not particularly care for the main character; for a women with so many years under her (designer) belt and an expressed desire to be seen for her experience and intelligence, rather than just her looks, she proved to be not too bright. Even so, I would have been easier with a three-star rating if it not for the seemingly random insertion of completely pointless steamy scenes. They were so disconnected, I envisioned that in the final edit, someone asserted that it required at least three more paragraphs of adult content, so the authors just shoe-horned some slap-n-tickle into the story. I do not feel particularly inclined to find out what happens next.

In order to save the soul of her recently departed family member, Penelope is given a task that requires her to go to the underworld. Penelope has lived as a model in the city and away from Olympus for a long time. As the daughter of Aphrodite, who looks very similar to her, she is a demigodess. Unfortunately for Penelope, Aphrodite has made some enemies through the years who will make retrieving the soul challenging. This is the beginning book and will leave you eager to see where the adventure leads.

Awesome read

Penelope is the daughter of Aphrodite. She has been cursed by her mother for not doing what she was told. She lives with the human descendants of her father. The curse means that no one but family truly sees her. They just covet her beauty and want her. She considers Janie, the human descendant of her mortal father, her sister. The Under world's Gods, Hades and Ares want war. Bad stuff happens. Pen has to do some really crazy stuff. The book was an awesome read. Can't wait for the next one!

The stories stay pretty accurate to greek mythology. If you want a cute heroine book this is for you. There are some steamy scenes but id say 🌶🌶🌶 of out 5 spice. The MC has to go on a quest, and we know how much the ancient Greeks love their quests. The daughter of aphrodite is no different. There are surprises In the book that keep you reading. Overall I enjoyed

I don't know where I read this story before but I did. Wondering if it was a short story made into a novel but it definitely wasn't new.

Hopefully the rest of the series will actually be new to me lol.
