From a Canadian born Jamaican picking up Patois only from their parents and Aunties, this book is as real as they come. Amazingly well thought out breakdown of the parallels between Patois and English. Along the way, learn about the author while slowly and surely absorbing the cadence and flavour of Jamaican Patois. Highly recommended, I wish I could give 6 stars.

I loved this. I’m a British born Jamaican who grew up hearing my mum speaking a mix of English and Patois. I was never taught it but was able to understand a lot. Even visiting Jamaica I was able to pick up most things, but this book is great for understanding the grammar and the explanations of why things are said in certain ways. If you read this along with watching the YouTube clips, it’s truly helpful. I can definitely understand a lot more now, rather than just getting the gist of what’s being said.
I would LOVE to see more books being written/translated in Patois.
