When I first started this book, I honestly thought it was going to be a lighthearted and sort of silly, goofy time. The opening chapters, especially with the irritable, crazy rooster, had this quirky, small-town humor that made me think I was in for something more off the rails. But as the story went on, it shifted gears pretty quickly into a much more serious, high-stakes thriller than I expected. That tonal change actually worked in some ways. It caught my attention and made me curious to see where the story was headed.
The writing itself is simple and easy to follow but at times it also felt a bit too straightforward. There were several moments where the author seemed to over-explain things that didn’t need much explanation, almost as if they didn’t trust the reader to connect the dots on their own or assumed they didn't know what things were. This “hand-holding” took away some of the mystery and tension that could have made the story even more engaging and also felt like it immediately took me out of the story. I also noticed a few comments throughout the book that felt unnecessary, lines that didn’t really add anything to the characters or plot and could have been left out entirely.
That said, once I hit about the two-thirds mark, I found myself really getting invested. The story picked up, the stakes became clearer, and I genuinely wanted to know how it would all wrap up. I really enjoyed all the music references sprinkled throughout, especially the Ozzy nods, which added a fun, nostalgic touch. Although, I could have done without the infamous bat part. If you know, you know.

I love a good conspiracy thriller. Especially one that hides the extent of the conspiracy until a bit later in the book, yet gives every clue to reveal it, well done. Super Moon Protocol opens with a farm rooster and his hens going berserk. That’s right, killer chickens, but it all works into the conspiracy. It gets ‘real’ fast after that and the action doesn’t stop. I liked how well Fluhart developed each scene in the book. The depth of the backstory and detail added so much yet hid and hinted at a multitude of reveals. Much of the book is action and then more action but again, so well developed. The ending caught me by surprise. The different story threads were actually one integrated conspiracy. I love discovering emerging authors. So many of their books are just wickedly entertaining. I highly recommend this read. For me, five stars for both J.T. Fluhart and for Super Moon Protocol. JAB, author of the conspiracy thriller Not On My Watch.

This was a weird one.
It starts with mutant chickens going berserk and somehow gets stranger as things progress. The story is propelled by so many convenient coincidences and implausibly helpful supporting characters that I joked to my wife that the story's more deus than machina (and yeah, I know I've committed a horrible crime upon Latin grammar with that one).
The biggest surprise, however, was the story ending without wrapping up the main plotline. As the end neared, I kept wondering how things were going to be neatly tied up in a bow in the decreasing number of pages left. Turns out, the answer was "there is no bow!" *A* plotline is resolved (sorta), but not the titular one. It felt like the author just said, "This'll do for Book 1" and called it a day.
Unless I'm mistaken, this book is self-published, and the lack of a copy editor shows. There are quite a few spelling and grammar errors, missing words, etc., and it could have used a steady editorial hand to help focus the story and suggest plot tweaks that disposed of all (or at least most) of that deus in the machina (again, my apologies to the Latin language).
On the plus side, it's a quick read that maintains fairly decent pacing, and it's not not entertaining, so I don't feel like I've wasted my time by reading it. At the very least, it kept me wondering, "What bonkers stuff is going to happen next?" That said, I'm not in a rush to read the next book in the series.

The book Supermoon Protocol by J.T. Fluhart seemed to have it all. A CIA cover up, Mexican cartel, prostitution, science experiments gone wrong, car chases, guns, death, murder, the list goes on. I am not sure what else could be crammed into this book of 318 pages, except chickens trying to kill people. Oh, wait that was there too. Yep, you read that right. If you ever raised chicken and had a rooster look at you the wrong way, then be warned the opening scenes are a wild ride of rooster revenge. The wake left behind destroys a family and eventually separates a brother and sister until history threatens to repeat itself fifty years later.
Supermoon Protocol is set in Northeast Texas around the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex area. Rob Florchett is plagued by nightmares and is about to find himself homeless. He seeks the help of therapist Dr. Maria Sheltie. She helps him unlock his nightmares and helps him uncover and understand more of his family’s wrecked past. She puts him in touch with another individual who knows more about what happened on his family’s farm all those years ago that led to mental instability, broken relationships and resulted in Rob and his sister, Mel, in foster homes. Sheltie helps Rob escape when the CIA shows up, and they are both lucky to escape alive. In the meantime, Rob is desperate to find his sister who has become caught up in the Mexican cartel headed by Jeffe Manuel and has fallen from grace to having to prostitute herself to pay off a debt to stay alive. When they finally meet, they find themself pursued by the CIA and the Mexican Cartel. It is a run to the Mexican border to find their father and the family they thought was lost all before the next supermoon rises and what was started fifty years ago happens all over again.
J.T. Fluhart has written a fast-paced action thriller. The plot is unique and well-paced. Fluhart has a two-pronged plot in the book and solves one by the end of the book and continues the second in the sequel. There is a great deal of violence in the book, some of which I could have lived without. Fortunately, the author does not spend a great deal of time describing the violence beyond what is necessary. There is mention of rape in the book so readers should be aware if this is a trigger for you. It is not described but mentioned as having already happened. There is foul language as you would expect in this sort of book, but it is kept as a minimum.
I would rate Supermoon Protocol by J. T. Fluhart four out of five stars. The writing was well done, and the fast-paced action kept the book moving. There was a great deal of violence, and I was not a fan of the ending. I can’t say I liked the book, but I didn’t dislike it either. It certainly was not what I expected. I can only recommend this book to readers ages 18 and over with cautions.

Wonderful book
This was a fantastic book! Not what I would normally pick to read for myself but now here we are. It ends on a cliff hanger so reading book 2 is next up. The writing was very good. Fantastic details made it so you can see the characters in your mind clearly. When I 1st started reading it I felt like there was a lot of unnecessary detail. I was very wrong all the details help to tie the story together nicely. Once you start reading it you wont want to put it down. While the story starts off in the 1970s and jumps forward 50 years the details are there so even if you aren't a history buff you can still follow the story. The story follows a couple people in a short amount of time and covers alot of the events and details. While it seems like one thing after another goes wrong it gets better and seems like things are going in the right direction for Rob at the start it ends with a feeling of relief and hope. One story is blended in with Mel's story as well. The way everything is brought together is well thought out. While the ending leaves opening to finish the rest of the story it does end one of the plots very well and unexpected. Your constantly on the edge of your seat while reading it and the ending isnt predictable like many other series. This is a quick read because it's hard to put down. When characters are introduced they are described in a way that doesnt leave you questioning why or how they are part of the story. They still have their secrets which I'm hoping is reveled in book 2. One thing I did really enjoy about this book was that there was no lull it was constant action and things happening that make it a hard book to put down.

This book kept me at the edge of my seat. It had no business having as many plot twists as it did and it left me at the edge of a huge cliff! I cannot wait for the next one to come out. I would classify this as sci-fi, thriller, military. Every time I thought I knew what direction the book was traveling, there was ANOTHER plot twist. This book was amazing. Based off of the first chapter, I did not think it was going to take the route that it did. It was so good and I want more.

Fun read
I was sucked in by the first chapter and couldn't put the book down. I had to find out where this story was going. Well written; all the side stories weaved beautifully into the main plot. It was a fun, quick read. Highly entertaining, the action throughout keeps you on the edge of you seat.

2.5 stars. I read this book for a review but otherwise would not have chosen it for myself. The storyline concept is interesting but a little too far fetched for my liking. The first half of the book felt scattered and unorganized. Very science fiction-y overall.
