The underlying goal of "Machine Learning Simplified" is to develop strong intuition into inner workings of ML. We use simple intuitive examples to explain complex concepts, algorithms or methods, as well as democratize all mathematics "behind the scenes".
After reading this book, you will understand everything that comes into the scope of supervised ML. You will be able to not only understand nitty-gritty details of mathematics, but also explain to anyone how things work on a high level.
"The Machine Learning Simplified" by Andrew Wolf is a great book to start if you are interested in ML and its key components. Wolf's style and how he explains the basics of ML are the main reason why I would definitely suggest this book. I have never been a fan of mathematics, but in today's world, it is important to understand at least the basics, and this book not only gives you the input, but it also opens the doors for wider concepts, although it doesn't go into much details about more complex topics. Again, it is a book for beginners.
When I first purchased this e-book, I had my concerns. I was not sure whether I could actually get into it, but Andrew Wolf did an amazing job keeping me interested thanks to his writing style, and also by simplifying and explaining clearly more complex terminology, he definitely knew his audience! I would 100% recommend this book!
The Machine Learning Simplified: A Gentle Introduction to Supervised Learning by Andrew Wolf is an educational read for those like me who have no knowledge of the mathematics of engineering, nor how technology at its basic level works. Wolf is obviously passionate about this topic from his tone, and I think he uses very clear explanations and examples to make this a truly “gentle introduction”. I've never really understood machine learning enough to guess what advances this science could make, but it was interesting to think about throughout. Although the book ends in some more advanced topics, Wolf starts from the beginning, at definitions, and lays foundations for learning well.
“The Machine Learning Simplified: A gentle introduction to supervised learning” by Andrew Wolf is an amazing and outstanding book that will teach you the basics of machine learning as well as the more advanced machine learning algorithms. These two different levels of difficulty are clearly divided in part one and part two, which I truly appreciated as it made it so much easier to understand the whole concept. Furthermore, concepts such as the difference between data science and MLOps and machine learning are discussed, adding to the typical problems one can solve with the help of Machine Learning. These are just a couple of examples but the book is full of enriching information. I definitely recommend it.
Author Andrew Wolf created a good introduction to supervised learning called "Machine Learning Simplified", a book which is easy to follow and very interesting. The topic may be seen as something difficult to grasp but the author has a nice writing style that makes the difficult something simplified. I really liked that, due to that I learned a lot with this book. I can certainly say that after reading Machine Learning Simplified, I am able to understand most things related to supervised ML. Also, I think that now I am capable of explaining some concepts to others. It is a complete and interesting reading that I think many people will benefit from. Recommended!
Andrew Wolf makes machine learning easy to understand. I’m a little bit of a techy so I’m glad to finally understand the difference between machine learning and data science. Specifically, supervised machine learning is used to make predictions about unknown quantities based on quantities that we do know. This can be used to solve numerous problems. Put another way, we can use machine learning to learn to do a certain task using data. It is through these predictions that real world issues can be solved, such as whether or not a credit card transaction is fraudulent. I have learned so much from Andrew Wolf, this book is a great asset.
Really interesting concepts , even for those not overly mathematically minded
This book was great to introduce the concept of supervised Machine learning to someone like me who has a little knowledge in the area, but not much. I found it fascinating to have the rational behind certain machine learning processes explained - predicting and deducing mainly - and liked how Wolf related the concepts to simple real-life examples. While some of the mathematical equations were well beyond my capability in theory, I appreciated how they were utilised for more in-depth explanations.
Before this book, I did not know much about machine learning. But after reading I realized, after being broken up into simplified steps, that it is the way of the future. Unlike other books that explain the concepts, actually shows you how to implement them. AI is the way of the future and it is time we jump on board. Give this book a read and expand your mind.
Lots of typos in the text and equations, some grammatical errors, and some missing information that seems like the author meant go back to finish but never did.
Otherwise, great into book. Could also be a good reference to remind oneself of the basics.
Andrew Wolf's book has become an interesting piece because it strips down one knowledge to a new and simplified way when starting to work with conputer softwares. I would reccomend readers to dive into the book if they are interested in learning or reinforcing their technical skills while working with codes. It is extremely important to read and absorb what Wolf says, and avoid your bias' buecause that way the book can help you learn something. If you are close minded and already advanced in data management, I believe this book will certainly help you compare your progress more than it will provide you with help.
