This is the first book in the Hades Hangmen MC Series by Simone Elise. I DNF’d a book before this one so I was determined that I was gonna finish this AND the novella that comes after it. It looks like this author has around 15 books that have been published and this wasn’t one of her first ones so I don’t understand why there are SO MANY grammar mistakes. Not just little ones either, there are whole sentences that make no sense so I guessed what it should be. A few times I started a new chapter and had to go back to the previous one to see if I missed something. It feels like there are parts to this story that are somewhere other than this book. There were so many questions I kept asking myself and thinking I had to have missed something somewhere but I didn’t miss it. I understand this is fiction and all that but there was some shit I just couldn’t accept. Harley is this big, bad head of his own empire (with his sister of course) yet when members of an MC walked into the bar he was at and left with his sister he had no clue where she was ? They were wearing their cuts so how hard was it to figure out ? Also Haylee and Harley run their empire together and they owed a debt to the MC but he didn’t know who or where they were ? And what was this mysterious debt that is mentioned several times but never elaborated. Then Harley runs into Lucian at the hospital and he has no clue this is the man holding his sister ? Harlee is such a total badass that she is a member of several different gangs and mafias ? Don’t even get me started on the whole wasted chapter that was basically a “what if” she had called the police on the MC. Two fiancés of Harlee show up at the clubhouse ? I swear if Harlee mentioned “the code” one more time I was gonna eat my Kindle. Why didn’t Lucian do something to Dash when he went behind his back to Harlee ? Then maybe she wouldn’t have gotten hurt. Also I’m 99% sure the name of the MC is never mentioned in the book. I don’t normally comment on the book’s cover but in the beginning of the book Harlee’s hair is described as being “as black as her soul” so why have a redhead on the cover ? She is beautiful. Why throw in a bunch of random people at the end of the book ? My final thought is the conversation Lucian and Harlee have on their wedding night :
“ Tonight marks the first night I accept you as mine. And as a gift for you getting my tattoo, I’m going to give you one night where you will enjoy yourself and not remember it come morning. “
“ You’re roofing me ?” (Yes it says roofing in the book)
“ Darling, the things we are doing tonight, you won’t want to remember. “
“ Then why do it ?”
“ Drink it, darling, and I’ll reward you with a night you’ll be thankful not to remember .”
“ It’s tradition for me to RAPE you. I have to have that as your last memory, thinking that was exactly what I had done.”
“ So you have something worse than raping me planned for tonight ?”
“ Yeah. I’m putting my walls down for the night, and I want to get to know you. “
“ Wait ! You drugged me to rape me, and now you want to get to know me ? So basically, I won’t remember our first real conversation !”
“ I had to do it, Haylee, it’s tradition. But after everything you’ve been through, you deserve better than that.”
“ You should have raped me, it would have been easier on you.”
HER THOUGHTS —
I knew that raping me would have been easier than him having an honest conversation with me. The question was why would he put himself in this position. He was showing me his raw side and I didn’t understand why.
IF YOU USE THE WORD “RAPE” 5 TIMES ON YOUR WEDDING NIGHT YOU MIGHT WANNA FIND SOMEONE ELSE !! I read that conversation twice because I thought I was missing something but no it was just as bad the second time.

This book was a mess!!! And im not talking about the story, im talking about proofreading, editing that all shabang! There's errors thought out the book!
The title is also stupid! IMO the title should be Seeker!

The book was very choppy. There was no transitions and from the beginning you are hit with a lot of mess and then some more mess. Unfortunately this was a miss for me.

Needs proof reading, but still a great story with great characters.
Where do I begin? The mistakes in this story...and not just typos or letter transposition: e.g., rouge vs rogue, shallowed vs swallowed. There were wrong words or the wrong form of a word...approach vs approve, directly vs directed, a jar vs ajar, change vs changing. There were also words out of place or unneeded words...a 'to' or 'of' where it shouldn't be. Yet with the exception of a couple that had me rereading a sentence before I finally figured out what the author meant, most of these didn't disrupt the reading flow and the intent was understood.
The Characters - I loved. The MFC has a tragic history, but it made her the bada$$ she is. She's overcome and built a little empire, but she still doesn't trust love and it colors her decisions. The MMC is the top dog in an MC club...HE appoints the presidents of the various chapters. He's a bada$$ with a reputation, yet all but falls apart for a woman. Some of the decisions he makes related to the MFC seem out of character or a not believable, yet I still loved him. Loved the secondary characters too...most served their purpose well.
The Story - Loved it. Lots of action, excitement, great banter and interactions; it all kept you turning the pages. We get bits and pieces of the MFC's history throughout the story so we understand the motivation or reason behind her actions/reactions. Not the case with the MMC. We get no details about his background/history other than what's given about his failed marriage. His parents seem to be affluent or at least upper middle class and he's supposed to be ex-military but we have no clue to what drove him to the MC lifestyle, particularly one that appears to be similar to the "one percenters" (called something else in this book but described similarly). Still I loved the story and read it in one day. So...I generously give this one 4 stars just because I enjoyed the story and loved the characters.

Just like other reviewers have pointed out, the editing isn't great and pretty choppy. The storyline kept my attention though

How can this be a standalone?!
I have to say that I loved the main characters Haylee and Lucian, and how their relationship grew. How ever there was to many side stories going on for this to be a stand alone! Like WTH you left the story with way to many questions unanswered! What happened between Harley and Imogene near the end of the book? They mention very little of them but they are also important characters. And are we just ignoring what happened to Massie? Not to mention that her mom just dropped off the face of the earth after being a major pain in the ass throughout the book!
The only other thing is the grammar and spelling in this book was horrible. It distract me from reading the book but it did become irritating. I don’t know if some one copy and pasted the manuscript into KU or they used Siri to translate/ transcript it into KU either way it’s bad! Hope the hard copy isn’t like this, someone needs to go back through and fix it because some of the sentences are just horrendous!

WTH!!!!
Seriously this Book made no sense what's so ever. First she being take for a debt then she becomes property to the president. Supposedly saves his daughter. Then watches one TV show with her and suddenly she cares so much about her . When the girls mom hollers at her the supposed heroine goes off on her and punches her in the face for it. (Whether or not she thinks the mom is a bitch or not that's beside the point. ) I mean seriously who does that? One minute she's all tough the next supposedly is caring. The story jumps from one scene to the next with no explanation of what's going on or what their really talking about. It's confusing and hard to figure out what's going on. Like the author didn't put all of the story in her head in the book, so your confused! Not to mention all scene jumps

I don’t know what happened here, but the story line doesn’t add up, there are a TON of spelling errors and don’t get me started on the grammar errors. It also says stand alone, but was a cliff hanger... I couldn’t follow the story, so sadly didn’t finish. She left him and went back to her brother, then somehow she is back with him the next chapter? I was so lost. Then the guy that was her ex fiancé died, by decapitation, but somehow changes to another guy and that guy is still alive. Were there two ex-fiancés?

good story line but tough read
The over all story line of a bad ass FMC that runs her world but is thrown into his in order to save her brother’s life is really good.
BUT…
There are a LOT of typos, run on / repeat sentences, and grammatical errors all through out this book that make it hard to follow the scene at times.
Plus, the FMC is always anti giving in to make bs but in the end, gives into his bs.
I honestly could have gotten over her giving in but the bad editing was really what was a hard no for me.

It had potential
This book has potential to be a good book. It needs to be edited better, bad spelling , missing words, the story line was good but it had some major flaws. Missing things in the story. Why did some of the things happen. Like why did Dash stab Haylee. Who the heck was Angelines boyfriend and what happened to him. Really confused on how old Massie was. I thought she was kid but then she was a teenager.

Good but could be so much better
This was a good read but seriously, you need to fire your editor. I know some of it was dialect and I respect that but so much of the struggle in reading this book was the lack of editing. I will never understand putting out a book, it’s YOUR name on it and it’s clearly not up to par. Won’t be reading another book by this author.

July 25, 2020I really loved the book full of suspense and excitement unit the end I was very disappointed how it ended needed more at what happened to them with the life they lead should have gone further. I read at least 4 or more books weekly and this one left me unsatisfied. Another book about them would be great

Potential but really needs editing
A smoking hot leading couple and good premise.... But needs work. "you nearly costed me my life". You also lose sense of time with strange leaps for unknown durarion. Massie 10 then next minute 14. Maybe I need to read it again sometime but some things didnt make sense.

Overall the story wasn’t bad but there were quite a few errors. Not just spelling mistakes but sentences that didn’t make sense. I also found that it jumped around a bit and was missing information in certain spots. I actually wanted to rate it 3 and a half stars but since we are unable to give half stars I am being generous and give it a 4.

What a love story!
Well, let me tell you, this has more twists and turns than a labyrinth! Lucian and Haylee are quite the pair. From the first time they lay eyes on each other, to the black wedding, to the stabbings. They were certainly made for each other.
Nice turn of events with his daughter, too.
I really enjoyed reading this one. Not for the faint of heart though.

Don't waste your time
It's one of the worst books i have ever read. The editors clearly skipped this book. Errors from beginning to end and the story wasn't much better.
I have no intention of ever reading another book of hers, and the editor for this book should not be allowed to work on any other books.

Too hard to get through.
I was able to stick with it until part 2. I liked the story but there were just so many errors it was insane. Not only that but the writing style was atrocious. The author has some good ideas just needs a bit more education, practice, editing to get where they need to be.

Tough and Strong Female character.
It is refreshing to see a biker romance book that has a strong, sexy and smart female character. This novel was immersive and did an amazing job of balancing and staying true to its biker roots. I Can’t wait for the sequel to drop.

Wow this was a great read I loved the strong female lead and the alpha male who has a soft side was a easy read was gripped from the start so much do that I finished it the same day everything else got forgotten 😂

Editing was awful. Words were missing or added where they did not need to be. It seemed like two paragraphs were put together that did not belong. Don't know that I would ever read another one of her books.

Hire An Editor!
While this storyline is moderately good, the poor grammar, misspellings and typos are just too much to ignore. In addition, the scenarios have long build ups only to be wrapped up in very few words, then moving onto the next day. This one is a “skip-it” for me!

I just grabbed this book on a whim. Not sure if I remember why I chose it. But I’m so glad I did. Loved how fast paced this book was. But I feel it was kinda rushed towards the end. Or maybe that is just me wanting more to it.

Great read.
I liked how the book flowed and how the FMC was this overly emotional person who always needed saving. She was kickass and I loved it. This was my first time reading Simone Elise and I look forward to trying more of her work.
