If you are looking for gentle romps through the flowers, with lovers holding hands and never making mistakes, then my books are not for you.

I don't write heroes or heroines, I write people with baggage, history and problems. My characters are flawed, they're messy, they make disastrous mistakes that are hard to come back from. My stories are not sweet or kind, they are dark and, at times, cruel. They deal with uncomfortable subjects and I do not apologise for it.

If you like plot twists, characters you don't think you'll ever grow to love but eventually do, sarcasm, dark paths and messy relationships, then come on in. The water may be deep and shark-infested, but I know the way out ...I promise.

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The premise and the relationship among brothers.

The Not-So-Good: The chemistry, both romantic and sexual.

The Bad: The ending.

Overall: This was an alright read. Especially because it was a freebie! Not anything spectacular and not anything that has me ranting because it was so upsetting either. I was a little bored but I never skimmed and I definitely think it could've had better chemistry and a better ending. Just okay for me.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Magdalena and Rook's story. Magdalena is trying to hire a fake boyfriend for her yearly birthday dinner at home, only she approaches the wrong man at the diner. Rook is a little bored with life after retiring as a hit man, so when this case of mistaken identity lands at his feet -- he decides to play along. What neither of them expect is to run into trouble and get kidnapped together. There is some family drama, some suspenseful scenes, and some sexy times...and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Magdalena and Rook's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Alright. I never skimmed but I did feel like it was slow at times.

Instalove: No, while it is quick in the grand scheme of things, it didn't feel insta.

H (Hero) rating: 3 stars. Rook. I liked his protectiveness over the h, but didn't feel necessarily connected to him.

h (heroine) rating: 3 stars. Magdalena. I liked how she was strong but other than that...meh.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Not really

Heat level: Alright. They have some alright tension and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story. I felt like it was lacking chemistry.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ending in an alright place but I felt like the epilogue was more about the h's family drama than giving us the good closure for their relationship. I would call it a HFN even though I'm sure others will be fine calling it a HEA

Safety: This one should be either Safe or Safe with exception for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences

WOW!! If I could rate this book more I would it was phenomenal. I am truly floored by this book. All I can say is this author can write any genre. Such a terrific story about Rook and Dally. What a phenomenal couple. Rook was out of this world fantastic. Dally was quite the character. I loved that she would stand up dust herself off no matter what she went through. There was a wonderful surprise that I loved. This story was full of suspense, lust and love and this author made you feel all emotions. I did not want this book to end and so excited to read the other brothers books but I have to say it will take a lot for me to love anyone more than I do Rook. He is the best. Most definitely recommend this book.

3.75 - 4 stars!

“Imprint her image into your head because if you even breathe in her fucking direction once we leave here, I’ll come back for you. You will watch while I destroy every part of your body. You will beg me to end your life. I will fucking rip you apart and stitch you back together. I will peel the skin from your bones and let you bleed. I will break every bone in your body and leave you to heal and then I’ll do it all again. I will feed your fingers and toes to fucking rats. And when I finally let you die, it will be with her face in front of you so you know why I’ve done it.”

description

When Magdalena (Dally) hires a fake boyfriend at the request of her roommate to take with her to her dreaded family birthday party, her life is irrevocably changed. She mistakes Rook for the for-hire boyfriend and Rook plays along because something about her intrigues and fascinates him. What is supposed to be something simple turns into a kidnapping situation.

Dally soon finds out that she was kidnapped with a retired hitman who is the one person that could probably get her out alive. The two of them work together to get to safety and find out who is behind the kidnapping but along the way find they have a connection that goes deeper than just friends. They also realize that there is more to this kidnapping than meets the eye.

Rook was such a sexy badass and I loved his boldness, unapologetic nature and the way he was with his Dally. He was naturally realistic in his thoughts and actions with just the right amount of possessiveness.

“Make no mistake, darlin’. We may have started out accidentally, but this is real. You are mine now.”

Dally was tenacious, strong and fierce and took everything thrown at her in stride. I really loved her character and I enjoyed that there was no dumb miscommunication between the two of them and she didn't act all torn on how she felt about Rook or whether or not she should be with him.

However, I'm finding it difficult to rate this story. On the one hand, the story was really very good and individually the characters were fantastic. However, I think romantically it was lacking. Don't get me wrong...Rook said and did ALL the right things but between the sheets I was missing some true passion and chemistry. I'm not sure if the scenes were too short, there weren't enough steamy scenes or they weren't descriptive enough but there definitely was a passionate element missing for me. I will also say while I loved the ending, I was also kind of annoyed at a certain bombshell revelation. I'm hoping Rook's brothers' books will explain it more.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to any romance readers that like a dark side with a morally grey hero and a heroine that has bite despite her more gentler nature.

Magdalena has a horrible family. As the unwanted bonus child, her mother lives to remind her how unwanted she is each year on Magdalena’s birthday... Her mother also frequently attempts to set her up on "appropriate dates." This year, Magdalena is taking matters into her own hands and she is bringing her "boyfriend" to dinner. One problem: she doesn't have a boyfriend... but she plans to hire one for the night. What could go wrong?

Rook is eating his pie at a diner when a young woman approaches him with an envelope of cash for the "platinum package". He is perplexed by this turn of events, but he plays along as the strange woman sits down at his table... When she says the money is to accompany her on a dinner date on Saturday night... Rook, bored and a little intrigued, decides to play along to see how things play out... Curiosity is getting the best of him. But he isn’t an escort… he is a hitman. What could go wrong?

What began as an innocent mistake / fake date... quickly turns into an action-packed, thrilling, page-turner... and I loved every minute of it! There's kidnapping, torture, unaliving, steam, suspense, twists & turns, and so much more!

Within the first few pages, I was completely enamored with Rook, and after a few more pages, I was completely smitten with Magdalena... by the end of the first chapter, I was ALL-IN! And then I got to meet Rook's brothers…

Y’all I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Rook and Magdalena really grew into their own (and each other) throughout this book and I just gobbled it up! And the dark and dirty… I am a little twisted and I do like the darker, edgy books and this book checked ALL MY BLOCKS!

If you are looking for a “fake boyfriend” with a twist… this is the book for you. Rook gets all my recommendations and I am anxiously awaiting Bishop’s and Knight’s books! Rook is a must read romance!

She needed a rent a date for her birthday party. He’s a retired hitman who had moved to the town to get away from his old life. What happens when you accidentally hire a hitman as your date?

First off, this book is just another amazing story by this author. She was able to immerse me in this world so fast. I was hooked within minutes of starting the book. She is so great at writing flawed characters. She doesn’t shy away from the bad parts that people try to forget about. She allows her characters to be loved for all the broken bits they possess.

Magdalena’s character struggles with accepting the reality of the way her family treats her and feels about her. She’s unsure of herself at times and has allowed her mothers negative emotions to color how she reacts. Rook is a hardcore hitman. He appears to be removed and emotionless but is unable to control his feelings with Magdalena. Their personalities work well together and as the story progresses we get to watch them fall for each other

This book is one I will reread. I’m so excited that she is planning on books for Bishop and Knight.

I was provided with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

"Make no mistake, darlin'. We may have started out accidentally, but this is real. You are mine now."

I. Love. Rook. Chambers. There, I said it, so hands off ladies and gentlemen, I've staked my claim. Every man has his flaws, but even a past of murder for hire, and a death tally higher than my remaining phone battery, wouldn't keep me from climbing this man like a tree.

I loved how these two met by accident. A case of mistaken identity, Magdalena picks the wrong table, the wrong guy, and it ends up being the best mistake she could have made. All she needed was a fake boyfriend for an annual dinner with her parents. And they are just awful!! I hated her mother - she's horrible!! And maybe bringing a hitman, with no filter, to dinner wasn't going to make things better, but I loved how Rook put her in her place! Yes!!

When Rook and "Dally" unexpectedly find themselves targeted, his goal is to get them out alive and eliminate the threat. The skills he acquired through is past will be what saves their future.

Oh, and did I mention the steam between the sheets too? Holy Hotness!!!

Not only is Rook hot, but he's got two hot brothers too! I'm looking forward to reading Bishop's and Knight's books too!!

Definitely pick this one up!!

O.M.Geeeee!!! Run, don't walk, and grab your copy today! This is completely unlike anything author L. Ann has published before and it is absolutely phenomenal! I see many re-reads in the future for this one.

Magdalena McCarthy accidentally hires a hitman to pretend to be her boyfriend to avoid being set up (yet again!) by her mother. While I could go on a rant about her mother, all I'll say simply say is that she is peach. Rook Chambers is intrigued by the woman who stops at his table by mistake and offers to pay him to be her date to a family dinner. What starts off innocent turns into total chaos and thankfully Dally now has a former hitman on her side as her life starts to take a dangerous turn.

This book drew me in from Page 1 and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Lots of twists, turns, steam and suspense. I loved Rook's brothers and look forward to reading their stories as well.

Highly recommend!

My reviews may contain spoilers.

I can't say there's anything excessively wrong with this book. It just fell somewhere between blah and meh for me.

There weren't a lot of grammar mistakes, which I appreciate, but I didn't connect with the heroine at all. I actually found her annoying. And clueless.

Normally I like the quieter heroines, but there's quiet and then there's "I'm going to constantly do the opposite of what this expert in his field tells me to do." The hero tells his brother how strong she was and I was thinking...when? When she wasn't listening to you? When she broke down about seeing him kill an already-dying man? And yet, when she's drugged and stripped and almost raped, she has very little reaction. Like I said, no connection with her.

Let's just gloss over the fact that the reveal happens of who arranged everything and then they leave the apartment to run right into that character, who wants to take the heroine for coffee. And I am dumbfounded that both characters are not only not confronting him, but seemingly haven't put together that the one who arranged everything is the mastermind behind the kidnapping.

Isn't this supposed to be a hitman who is brilliant at his job? He lets the heroine go, although he has his suspicions...uh...yeah, because we were told who it was two minutes earlier and the clueless heroine is just being led away like a lamb to slaughter.

Rook finds out that a character owes money to the son of a major mob boss in the area. A boss he's done business with in the past. Okay, any logical person - and Rook seems to be logical - would go to the mob boss and get his girl back. Bafflingly, Rook decides to waste hours torturing the whodunnit to get no real information, then goes to the mob boss to get his girl back. Never mind that she's being assaulted and you could've easily cut out the middle man and saved several hours with the information you had before you even tied him to the chair.

I also didn't care for what was a clear paranormal aspect in a contemporary romantic suspense. Obviously the character is a paranormal hero in the author's other books. I love paranormal romance, but I'm not a fan of crossovers between worlds that have not been established. It completely took me out of the book.

Spice was a 1/5. It's there, but nothing that jumped out. Heavy foreplay to "ground" her and one or two love scenes that are forgettable. I didn't feel much chemistry between them. I often wondered what it was about her that Rook was attracted to, besides her looks - and even those aren't described to the reader, so she's a blank canvas with dark hair and nice curves...I think she had dark hair. I don't really remember.

At this point, my review would've ranked a 2.5, which I would've rounded up. Then we come to the rushed ending and the epilogue. What in the Jerry Springer is happening here?

Characters we barely know are confessing to dark family secrets and the heroine is fainting (because she's so "strong" and "perfect"). History is rewritten - for her and the reader. The family is so obsessed with saving face, due to the unbelievable matriarch, that they don't even tell of her kidnapping, but at some point in the past, we're supposed to believe the mother is threatening to tell the world about her darkest secret for revenge? Her father is never mentioned again, even though they seemingly had a decent relationship because he follows her mother's lead. The confusing backstory that was completely out of nowhere and suddenly the heroine has a sister-niece and a sister who loves her, even though that was not the impression given earlier in the book. And kids - plural - were mentioned in the one-sentence back story we got on Charlotte and her family before the epilogue, but she only has one baby with her at the end? It was so rushed and unnecessary.

I would've dropped my rating to one star at this ridiculous point, but I try to save that rating for books I can't even finish. At least I finished this one. But like I said, up until the epilogue, it was mostly blah for me.

L. Ann brings the antihero of the year to her readers with the perfect amount of darkness and smolder in Rook! Desperate times, a mistaken identity and a bit of boredom set off a series of events in Rook that kept the pages turning with more than enough edge of your seat moments for a wild ride.

Retired hit man Rook Chambers was an intriguing character with his dark past juxtaposed against his unexpected good deeds. Seemingly mercenary actions often cloaked his kind heart as his surprising attraction to quiet heiress Magdalena McCarthy brought out a caring and protective side to him that shocked everyone including himself. Where Magdalena was concerned his emotions were unpredictable and nearly impossible to cut off in the way he had always so easily done before Magdalena. Magdalena was her own worst enemy as she repeatedly fell victim to her families belittling and disregard. Marginalized her whole life by the very people who were supposed to love her she led a lonely life of defeat.

The meeting of Rook and Magdalena was pivotal to both of these characters as they were both pulled out of their comfort zones and confronted with realities neither was fully prepared to deal with. Rook exposing himself emotionally to another person was out of his wheelhouse as was Magdalena's not accepting her families benefiting from the lack of self worth they had instilled in her from birth. The dynamic in this relationship was multilayered as they fought against their instincts to retreat from each other yet could not help but be drawn to the other. In the end Rook and Magdalena's attraction was as fiery as it was undeniable.

L. Ann is no stranger to suspense and dark agendas in her writing. This writer knows how to keep a story crashing through preconceived perceptions and taking readers to places that are not where they expected to go. Unconventional couplings are her fortes and she knows how to keep her audience caught up in her words. Rook shows that you can always count on L. Ann for a well-orchestrated drama with a HEA thrown in the mix, a definite must read!

Magdalena (Dally) has an awful mother who demands that she spend every birthday at her parents house, listening to how her mother was older when she had her and almost died. Last birthday her mother tries to set her up with an older man (as a blackmail, because he turns out to be her equally unloving biological father), so this year Dally’s roommate suggests hiring a fake boyfriend to keep her awful mother from pulling her shit. Fortunately, Dally ends up meeting the “wrong” person for the job, Rook.

Rook is a bad man, a hit man. He has no need to take the job Magdalena offers, other than boredom, and he finds her attractive. Agreeing to be her fake boyfriend, he accompanies her to her parent’s house where he discovers just how horrible her mother is and how reluctant her (step) father is to step up in Dally’s defense, and check his wife. Getting through the unloving evening, Dally and Rook are ran off the road and kidnapped on their way home.

Thankfully, Rook is a bad ass and capable of protecting Dally and getting her out of there. What follows is the unraveling of why they were kidnapped, who was behind it (her brother owing the Russian mafia), and another rescue by Rook.

I found the story entertaining but some parts dragged for me. Even though Magdalena eventually comes around to who Rook is, she is kinda judgy and resistant in the beginning, which I thought was kinda ungrateful lol. Yeah, Rook used to kill people for a living, but he saved her ass twice and he’s not a psycho/sociopath. Anyway, I found Rooks brothers to be interesting and I’d love to read more about his assassin parents and his family.

This was one of the hottest books I have read recently. This story is a stand alone romance book. I loved the characters, Rook and Magdalena.

Magdalena is a sweet quirky woman who is just trying to get her mom off her back about finding a husband, so she hires an unknown man to pretend to be her boyfriend for a day. She walks up to the man she believes is her date for the night and plops down $500 on his table.

Rook is “retired” from his family job and just wants to relax and be left alone, so while he is sitting in a diner, eating his food and minding his own business, a women walks up to him and offers him $500 that she insists he asked for. What’s a man supposed to do but pretend to be the man she needs and be the best boyfriend ever. Luckily his past job skill set equips him for the job.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts from the first moment they meet. This story had everything I look for in a book, romance, super hot loving, mystery, a little danger. This will definitely be a frequent reread for me.

Oh and Rook has two brothers and I am really hoping for their books, because they are yummy.

I recommend this book for all the reasons listed above but also because L. Ann is such a fantastic storyteller. I recommend this book.

Caught Me Rook ,Line and Sinker 😂

Magdelena needed a date to keep her mother from trying to pair her off with someone not of her choosing. Her bbf tells her to hire a fake boyfriend but when she goes to meet him she gets the wrong guy and ends up with Rook. Rook is confident and he’s been around and doesn’t take any BS from anyone so you know before he meets her he’s going to pee her mother off big time. However when on their way home things don’t go quite as planned when they are run off the road and Rook is dragged back into the very profession he retired from 12 months ago. This book is totally different from L. Ann’s previous books and it was so good I loved the cameo from a character from a previous book and Rooks brothers especially his younger brother and I can’t wait for their stories .

Rook, I love him!
The heart wants what the heart wants and in this book, a mistaken identity proves this time again.
Rook, his values and strengths keep you re-evaluating and on your toes throughout. I was amazed by Dal's strength and was right with her on an emotional roller-coaster ride.
Bad people come in all shapes and sizes and I found myself shocked at a few. How cruel physically, but how cruel emotionally some people can be. Reading , not for the faint of heart.
Even though this is a standalone, I'll be watching with anticipation to read more from L. Ann if she ever re-enters this storyline.
Well done!

I devour everything that L.Ann puts out and quite frankly this was no different. I love her character development and her ability to pull you into the plot is second to none. Here we have Magdalena a single female under a lot of pressure from her prefect mother, in an attempt to avoid an awkward family dinner she decides to hire a man to pose as her boyfriend what happens next is frankly a wild mad rollercoaster of an adventure.
Dally was smart, sassy and snarky and Rook? Goodness me, won’t lie I had visions of John Wick dancing round my head, very distracting when you’re trying to work out ‘whodunnit’ , I found myself drooling over Rook and his brothers whilst I was suspecting every other character of the crime! I loved this new trope too, we’ve had Shifters, Rockstars and now Assassins! What could make it better? The reappearance of a fan favourite.

This is so far a standalone book that can be read on its own BUT if you have a look at the Midnight Pack books you can find background characters that enhance everything within this book (I’d definitely recommend this as the other books are fantastic!)

I’m so looking forward to finding out more about the other brothers so hoping L.Ann decides to throw us some more deliciousness out there soon!

Can you go wrong with an L. Ann book? The answer is no, you cannot... well as long as you're okay with darker themes and blood. This one has blood, and I loved it so much. I loved even more that one of my all time favorite characters of hers from another series shows up for a bit just to hang out in this one. I literally shrieked when they showed up on the page, I was so excited, (nope, not gonna tell you who, you have to find out for yourself).

I loved the boyfriend for hire trope, and the growth of the heroine. She starts off pretty timid and by the end, she's a lot more forward. And then there's Rook. Sexy Rook. Determined, badass Rook, who also HAS a fine ass, I'm quite sure. I don't know what's so incredibly attractive about a man who can dish out serious violence, but... man, I'm a sucker for it. Rook delivers!

This is a new kind of story for this author and she does it fabulously, and with flare. If you're looking for something a little dark, and different from your average mafia/hitman kinda thing, this is definitely a good pick. Plus, as a bonus, there are a couple characters in this one you can really sink your teeth into hating, which always delights me in fiction.

What a fantastic read, this was such a captivating story and I loved all the twist and turns it took you on! With fascinating characters and lots going on. This book was full of mystery and suspense, but also good dose of romance.
The chemistry between Rook and Magdalena was perfect right from their first meeting, and even had me chuckling and swooning from the beginning.

Dally was great, she had so much thrown at her and went through a lot, but I loved the strength she had-she took time to process but got back up and serged forward! I loved her natural curiosity!
Rook, oh Rook! So so so wonderful! A retired hitman who finds himself in the middle of a kidnapping plot, and a connection to Magdalena he didn’t expect. The relationship Rook has with his brothers was great. They were such fantastic additions to the story and Rook’s character, I look forward to their books!

The surprise guest appearance was absolutely perfect!! You don’t want to miss that!

I couldn’t put it down, and had me eager to find out what would happen next. I didn’t want the book to end. It is a must read!

something different!!!

As one of my favourite authors L. Ann has gone and surprised me again with her creative characters and a well executed story.
Magdalena a sweet girl looking to stop her mothers efforts in finding her a husband, hires Rook to be the perfect boyfriend. Little does she know how much that decision will change her life forever.
These two characters are thrown together in a highly intense situation that has you on the edge of your seat and turning those pages in order to get all the answers. Answers you are certain that you couldn’t imagine!!
I highly recommend this read !! It’s fun, full of action and also a bit of steam is added to round it out as the ultimate romance read.
I’m keeping my eyes pealed for the next story I’m hoping for more!!

5 freaking stand up stars for this one. I’m a huge L Ann fan and this new series is going to be beyond amazing. Rook pulled me in from page one and didn’t let me go until I finished it. It was filled with heat, passion, action, adventure, and a swoon worthy hero that is going to be fought over as a favorite book boyfriend. He was everything. I can’t wait for more from the brothers and to learn more about this incredible family. Well done L. Ann you’ve done it once again!

Rook is something else entirely, but boy is he something.

A chance meeting and a case of mistaken identity have never been such a fortunate occurrence. Rook and Magdalena really shouldn't work but they just do.

Another excellent and inspired offering from L Ann

A Different Type of Hero

Rook Chambers. Hitman. Brother.
Magdalena McCarthy. Daughter. Sister. Two people who would probably never had met if it wasn’t for a mistake she didn’t even know she made. A mistake that brought her into his orbit. This story is so different than anything I’ve read before. L. Ann took a man who lived his life doing something he was good at, something completely out of the norm. Rook had no regrets about what he was, he was good at it and it was his job. Magdalena didn’t know that her unknown mistake was the best thing that could have happened to her. I loved how Magdalena was a strong woman, even though she didn’t realize it about herself. She had been made to feel inferior when she was anything but that. The way she faces what happened to her during the story and how she bounced back to her feisty self was great. Rook, well, he’s unapologetically who he is. I’m looking forward to reading about his brothers in the future. It will be interesting to see what women cause them to follow in Rook’s footsteps. There was a nice surprise in this book, if you’ve read L. Ann’s other books, but that’s all I say so I don’t spoil it.

Marshmallow filling 😍

Dal was solid - she freaked for a moment, took a deep breath, pulled up her big girl panties, and faced the problem
Sad it was life experiences that honed her technique
Her "Mom" (wanted to knock-knock that woman multiple times) demanded her presence at her birthday bash (emphasis on the bashing part)
Ohhh but she had an idea for this year's birthday celebration - a bit of a 🐓block if you will

Enter Rook - the fake boyfriend - the smexy older man
The solution to an afternoon of her mothers squawking

Only it turns out he is more than she paid for
And that little extra just might save her life

This was a fun, at times suspenseful, slightly aggressive 😂 romance that kept on giving
Rook was so self-assured, that he comes across as untouchable - but when it came to Dal he was all mallowy goodness

A great start to the series -

Gah! Where do I start? Rook is so different from Lee Ann's previous books but, damn, it was SO good. I love her style of writing. Her characters are so fully developed across the book you feel they are real. The twists and turns in the plot hold you in their grip. I actually heard Rook **cough Thomas cough** speaking in my head while I read!

Rook and Dally are so miss matched but so perfect together and I cannot wait to see where the gang take us next! Bring on the brothers please, love a game of chess 😁

It was a nice add for a favourite character from another series to turn up too, love him ❤.

What stated out as being fake ended up being so good!! I loved Rook and mannerisms with Dally. Very well written (in my opinion) and with well developed characters (again my opinion). I'm hoping to see a glimpse of them in the future, just see how they're life is going but I also really want to see the brothers stories (don't care who happens first). Such a good book and I already want to reread it!

Wow! L.Ann did it again. This book is absolutely incredible. This book is a fake boyfriend/mistaken identity trope. Magdalene doesn't have the best relationship with her mother. Her mother continously tries to set her up on dates. This year for her birthday she is taking that into her own hands and hiring a fake boyfriend. However she ends up with Rook who is actually a hitman for hire, not an escort. This book is full of action. I loved it.

Amazing

WOW , this book is just WOW, it is one of those books that you just can't put down, Rook & Magdalena are different in evey way but are right for each other. This is a completely different genre to L.Ann last series of books but I can see there's are going to be just as amazing as the rest, Stand up L. Ann and take a bow, you deserve it. If you have not read this yet, you don't now what your missing

I had the opportunity to read Rook during a very difficult time in my life, and it allowed me the opportunity to slip into another world and forget about reality for a few minutes or hours per day. It was that good. Excellent writing, excellent world building, excellent characters and complete escapism, at least for me. Another great book from an author who is an auto-buy for me.
