November 8, 2022DNF@35%Too much internalized misogyny. Too much “bitch” in regards to women just…existing? I wasn’t expecting this from a sapphic book 😔.

DNF at like four pages in. Once the MC started talking about how ugly and fat and gross she was immediately after having taken down a fully grown man in a fight I just couldn’t do it anymore. There’s no variation in sentence structure and it’s all very bland. Got it for free on stuff your kindle day and even that wasn’t worth the effort.

I was given this book as an arc for my honest review.
The story follows Abaddon, daughter of the devil who is sent to retrieve a soul that was stolen. If she doesn't retrieve it in time, then hell and the world will fall to chaos! Along the way Abaddon meets three woman (a demon, a fire Fae and a white witch), who not only help her on her quest, but they end up becoming lovers to abaddon
I did enjoy the storyline and the premise of the book kept me engaged. The "bad" guy in this was a nice twist to the normal good Vs evil troupe. I really liked Abaddon, she is a plus size, kick ass woman, who takes no crap, but still has a softer side, which is evident with how she is with her "woman".
This is the first sapphic book I have read, the spicy scenes in this book, which were many, were very well written and they were definitely hot, i liked how they showed the love and heat amongst the woman, they all clearly love/lust for eachother.
I do feel like there could have been a bit more to Abaddon, she is badass, but as the daughter of the devil, I feel like she could have used her powers a bit more, for me she just lacked in the power department, we harem of woman seemed to have more power than her, we didn't really get to see much of her power til near the end of the book.
I liked the ending, however I was left with questions, it would have been nice to hear a bit more from the "bad" guy and why he did what he did, we do get told, but I feel like we should know a bit more about it and the woman who left him (don't want to give to much away) who is she? Was she abaddon mother? Why didn't the devil (her dad) tell her about it, he clearly knew who the bad guy was.
Overall though I did enjoy the story, it kept me engaged and the spicy scenes were good, I love a bit spice in my books. Even though this is the first book I've ever read with all woman spicy scenes, i could appreciate it, although I would still prefer to keep my spicy scenes m/f, I wouldn't be put off reading this type of book again.
If you like your sapphic fantasy books, with a badass plus size female, with plenty spicy scenes and a good storyline, then I would definitely recommend this book.

I absolutely loved the premise of this book. Sapphic paranormal RH? PLEASE. I haven't seen a lot of that going around so I really want to promote that being a thing.
My only issue was I felt like the story and relationships were a touch rushed, so I had a hard time fully getting into this one. I do think that where the book was headed with the plot itself and the relationships in it were interesting, and I think that if a little more time was given to balance both of these out and flesh the plot some more it could have been really great. Rating is more 3.6-3.7/5 but I'm rounding it up. I do think Browning has some fun ideas within what she has created.
If you think you might be interested, go ahead and give it a try.

I wanted to like this sooo bad especially because its one of the few romances out there marketed and labelled as a Lesbian romance, but the writing and plot sort of felt all over the place. There was very little time for any romantic feelings to come from the several love interests and while the smut was good it wasn't good enough to overshadow the fact that I simply do not care for most of these characters. ESPECIALLY the "bad guy" skipped his whole backstory and monologue simply because i do not care for him or the WHOLE reason why theres a plot to begin with.

Disclaimer: I got this book for free on Kindle. I participated in stuff your kindle day where I got a bunch of romance books for free, roughly 2,000 books. I normally do not read romance books but I wanted to try the genre. I typically read fantasy, science fiction, biographies, and classics so this is way out of my comfort zone. My plan is to draw a book at random without reading the summary, title, and avoiding looking at the cover. As long as the book is not too graphic for me or leads into something uncomfortable, I will be attempting to finish as many of these books as I can in 2024. I understand that many of these books will likely not be top tier but I am hoping that I can learn something about the romance genre as a whole and figure out if any types of books in this genre are for me.
My Review: Returning to these books feels like a huge mistake. I hated this one. The actual story line has a lot of promise. Crossing western ideas of devil with greek mythology seems cool at the core. The problem is that the story was used as a plot device to build a harem. Satisfying the main character's excessive horny mentality became all that occurred in the book, which was disappointing.

I just..... I don't know where I stand on this! The whole plot of finding the soul was rather well planned. I just wish this book had more plot than sex! I feel like this was written as a pure smut-filled novel, that masked it with a sub-plot to allow for it to fit into the fantasy genre (to have the demon characters be what they are)!
The initial few chapters were rather difficult to get past, as I felt that they just kept repeating themselves, and "Don" comes across as rather annoying and irritating.
HOWEVER...... the plot of the story itself, with the quest to find the missing soul, was what got me through this and actually pulled its rating up. If this book had been purely just the quest story, I feel I would have enjoyed it waaaayyy more!

Good for what it was!!
The story was too short when there were definitely situations that could have been explored to make the story deeper more intriguing! The MC was a bit 1 dimensional and although each woman was “different” Princess of the underworld, Fire Fae, Human Witch and a Demon they were ALL regular white woman! Some spice would have been nice!! There are all types of women in the world and the imagination is endless. Choosing all white women was lazy!
I did like it but it would have been a 5 star if it was fleshed out more!!

Good read
It's a fun read but there are definitly some inconsistencies. The sudden attachment to multiple people after 300 years of not being able to form any attachments previously made it seem like a mid life crisis. Overall it was enjoyable to read but that was an example of something that made me question my understanding of several paragraphs.

sapphic FFFF series, not to many like this around
demon, demon who hunts demons, fire fae, and a white witch walk into a bar, literally at one point they do no joke, and my goodness are they good together. finding a lost souls and returning them to the underworld to Lucifer while the greek pantheon reeks havoc on earth.

Nice
Not too damn bad of a story if I say so myself. It's well written with a great story line. And different enough to stand out from a LOT of other books in this genre and others.
So go ahead and take a chance. I don't think you will be disappointed !!!

Once I started to read the book, it wasn't hard to finish. But it should be noted that there was very little plot development, every time I thought the plot was going to go somewhere, we got another spicy scene. I did like the ending, and there's never anything wrong with a Happy ending.

finally coming back to this one to seriously review it after moving my account to a private one and it was honestly just so disappointing, lol. it’s hard as hell to find good lesbian or wlw erotica, and this was another in a long line of mid-to-poor options. the editing on it was really, really bad, and i really don’t love when plus-size characters talk down on themselves without any kind of warning about it. characters were super bland, everything just felt so two dimensional. it isn’t even that i feel like it was necessarily Offensive, it just felt like none of it Mattered. very disappointing

There's definitely a story in between all the lesbian sex. The sex scenes are hot but it happens so much you feel like you've already read it already by the time they happen later in the book. Very 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ but the story is meh.
