An invitation to discover your feminine power, trust your instincts and remember your real and innate magic. Lisa Lister, bestselling author of Witch, invites you to meet your inner Source-ress – with heavy emphasis on the word ‘source’ – and join her on a quest through personal and collective mythos to return to the rhythmic and cyclic intelligence of your body, Mother Nature and the cosmos.
Self Source-ery is a recognition that self-love is coming into relationship with the truth of who you are – your inner landscape, your body and your connectivity to nature and the world around you. It will help you to develop body awareness; take responsibility for your own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs; and access your energy, creativity and unique-to-you frequency and magic so that you are nourished, satiated and able to show up for yourself and others in times of chaos, uncertainty and transition.
Full of insight, stories, prompts for reflection, practices and supportive maps, Self Source-ery shares how
· connect to source is in a way that feels real and true to you · enter into a loving relationship with your body · access your sensorial nature, the act of pleasure and oracular wisdom · cultivate space for growth, healing, discernment and possibility · create your own Self Source-ery map and practice
Self Source-ery is your guide to being fully sourced, by source, orientated towards life (while knowing death intimately) and trusting your senses, wisdom and the ever-unfolding revealment of living your rhythm.
Crowned ‘the defender of female awesomeness’ by Cooler magazine, Lisa Lister – writer, plus-size yoga teacher, feminista + menstrual maven – is dedicated to helping women to crack their lady code – an ancient code connected directly to mumma nature, the moon and your menstrual cycle – that once cracked, gives you insta-access to monthly super powers that can be used to create a business and life you love.
I wanted to love this book but, alas, I did not. Don't get me wrong- there are a few great nuggets of info and affirmation. However, this is a book that has a lot of words but doesn't really say much.
I also wasn't a fan of the writer's style. It felt, I'm sorry but it's true, like when you have brunch with your aunt and she's had too many bottomless mimosas. Just repeating things really excitedly, you know what I mean?
The first book I stumbled upon was Witch - I have been diggin into Lisas craft since then and Self Source-ery is a beautiful follow up to Witch and a reminder - non practicioner or not - that connecting with yourself is essential to understand the deeper meaning of our lives & that we are a freaking power household and source of energy. This book is a gentle, yet honest guide written to become undone as much as becoming wherever you are on the path right now. It is a beautiful HEARTFELT written reflection of your own powers and self and how important it is to look after yourself. MUST COMFORT READ OF THE YEAR ♥
I'm a big fan of Lisa's and this book did not disappoint. Great read if you're going through a dark night of the soul or spiritual awakening and are looking for embodiment guidance. Beautifully written, with meaningful practices added.
I couldn’t get into it. I tried. Really tried, but I gave up on page 54. While the concept was initially intriguing - that we are all from source and of source and in these modern times it is becoming more obvious to many that we need to find ways to reconnect with ourselves and the natural environment around us - I couldn’t get past the overbearing anti patriarchy language, the over the top feminist rhetoric, the constant elongating of words such as “slooow” or “feeel”, the constant need to capitalise or italicise (or both) words and the constant use of terms like “deffo” instead of the actual word “definitely”. A lot of it was also very circular, dancing around topics and using language that felt like the author was trying to come across as both intellectual as well as cool. It didn’t work. It felt more like reading someone’s brain dump into their journal. I understand that the author is a women’s wellness practitioner and has very definitive views on empowering women, and I’m supportive of that, but just not in this format. Her unique voice is just not my cup of tea. Even though I had listened to her audiobook of Witch and not found it as grating, I couldn’t recommend this one
This is a painful read. From too many references to vulgarity to such misuse of reverence to the Blessed Virgin Mary (Virgin Ma?!) to so much unnecessary text it made me wonder how this book was published in the first place.
More times than not, I’m asking myself (and let’s use one of her much overused words), “What is this writer(?!) trying to ‘bloody’ say?!”
She may indeed be trying to make a valid point but the writing doesn’t help the reader (this one anyway) get to it.
Suddenly, I want to run back to our forefathers who founded our nation on Christian principles and rejoice in the practicality of their actions.
I have to finish this book as a required reading but let me not mince words as the author has done - it’s ‘bloody’ painful.
I'm a huge fan of Lisa's, and I've been following her work for a while now. I've read WITCH and Love Your Lady Landscape. BUT, I didn't love this book. In fact, I bought it a year ago and couldn't read it. It didn't touch me and it just seemed to mean absolutely nothing to me. I read it again a year later, now, hoping that it was just my perception at that stage, but I still can't get into the book. I'll continue to be a huge fan of Lisa's and I want to buy her new book, VENUS, but I have the feeling that this book had to be written very quickly, and that with all her knowledge, she just created it, but it doesn't have much soul. I feel like it's a kind of obligation to exist, I don't know why. It didn't add much to my life, especially after having read the others. I didn't like it.
I read somewhere that if you’re going through a spiritual awakening this is the book to read, I can confirm that it’s 100% true. I love Lisa Lister in general, this book in particular is about finding your power, being the sorceress of yourself. Very powerful and lots of beautiful insights. Lisa never disappoints :)
I loved this book. It’s the first time I’ve come across Lisa and she is very empathetic and empowering, a woman’s woman, unafraid and unapologetic for her feminine. I’m currently experiencing a dark night of the soul and this is just the salve needed. I also love the word fecund
There is lots of good information in this book. I am a guy and I enjoyed listening to the information. It was nice to listen to it because my partner also enjoyed it. This helped me to understand her.
This is a bloody brilliant book. I loved every single word. Get in touch with your real sassy feminine side at the same time of get in connection with mama earth.
