Three monsters are after Zada’s heart.

One is a vampire prince who’s been waiting for her for centuries.

One is a hybrid, a mixture of bloodlines.

She’s fated to be his mate, and he’ll do anything to protect her. Being son of the lycan king, demon blood runs through his veins. But this has turned many against him—and her.

One is a demon tasked to protect her.

He knows she can never be his, but the heart wants what it wants. Even if that heart is pitch-black and hails from the Underworld.

A storm is coming.

Betrayal lies around every corner.

No one can be trusted, not when the fate of vampires and lycans hangs in the balance.

Zada is the key to bringing an end to this war, but what if that comes in the form of bloodshed and bullets?

*ARC review*

Read if you like:
- fantasy/PNR
- Fast paced
- Spicy
- Insta love
- Prophesied/fated mates
- Political intrigue
- Underworld/Kate Beckinsale vibes
- Shifter spice scenes
- Vampire/blood play
- categorized as RH, but that may come out more prominently in the next installment.

I will preface this with some people may love the issues I had with this book, this is just my personal opinion. If the tropes mentioned and how they played out wouldn’t bother you, you may absolutely love this book.

So, technically this is a DNF for me, which I categorize as a 1⭐️

*Mild spoilers ahead*

Wicked Fate had all the things I would typically like in a story, but it just didn’t quite get there for me. I did like the fast paced nature of the story, but it did mean there was less world building. If I hadn’t seen and enjoyed the Underworld movies, I would’ve been a bit lost on the premise/world. There were themes and ideas brought up without context (like bloodlust, which isn’t what it sounds like, or what it’s like in other books/tv) so that kept taking me out of the story a bit.

We have our assassin-like FMC, Zada, who is brought to the origin city of her vampiric heritage to be married to a vampire prince to help stave off a war between the vampires and the lycan’s. Up until this point, I was doing okay, I hadn’t connected with anyone yet, but was hopeful.

But between our FMC and the Vampire prince, Corbin, there was an epic case of insta love/lust, which isn’t itself bad, it’s just not something I enjoy.

But then it happened again…. I get that the book is on the shorter side. But to have two cases of insta-anything in the time span of literal days (not even a week) was just too much for me. First with the prophesied vampire, and then with a fated mate. So while I liked the fast pace in the beginning…. It became TOO fast paced, that the timeline was unrealistic, even for a fantasy novel.

Then there was a case of accidental pregnancy after they spent two days together, with anatomically impossible/untrue statements about fetal heartbeats… that’s where I stopped.

So while this one wasn’t for me, I hope it’s something you enjoy!

Zada is a vampire. A Hunter who kills lycans to protect her kind. So when she finds out that she is part of a prophecy, that she is the key to stopping the war between vampires and lycans alike, she is ready to fulfil her duty.

Finding out she’s betrothed to the vampire Prince Corbin comes as a shock. But finding out that she’s also the fated mate of a lycan/vampire/demon hybrid? Unfathomable.

I really wanted to love this book as the blurb was intriguing - a vampire, hybrid, and demon all after one girl? Count me in!

However, it just never quite worked out for me.

Everything was way too fast paced and, as a result, lacked substance. It needed to be a much longer book to pack in all the content.

I didn’t feel any of the chemistry between Zada and the guys that should have been there, because there was no build-up.

Things progressed a little fast with both love interests. With Corbin, they’d barely spoken five words to each other and then she was riding his forked tongue and scaly dick? Then wait, she’d just met Aryn, her fated mate, another five word exchange and she’s fucking him now. And he shifts mostly into his Lycan form halfway through! I mean ease a girl into it ya know?

I’m all for characters getting down and dirty early on but it neither encounter felt like a moment filled with sexual tension where they couldn’t deny their chemistry. They felt like forced scenes.

I also couldn’t stop picturing her bat form as adorable, whilst simultaneously wondering if her clothes shrink with her shifting. I mean she never had to redress after a shift.

Some grammatical errors - mostly in the form of using “me” instead of “I”. And there was a lot of repetition. For example, she mentions her undead flesh or undead skin or undead heart constantly. We get it. You’re undead.

Additionally, the grammatical errors detracted from the story even more so than normal, because I wasn’t immersed in the plot.

It’s a real shame because I think with some fleshing out and better editing, this could’ve been great.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

I received an ARC copy from the author in exchange for a review. Needless to say, DNF I couldn’t finish it.

I pride myself on my critical-thinking skills when it comes to reading, whether I want to think that deeply or not. LOL So keep that in mind regarding my review.

Either way, when I find mistakes on the first page, that usually doesn’t end so well when it comes to my rating, and if I have lots of questions… it’s downhill from there. The more no-nos, the harder it is for me to continue reading.

What did I like?
I like Aryn’s character. He’s different from the usual crowd of supernaturals.
The idea was interesting but I feel like it needs some work in the backstory and the finer details.
I liked the twist with Corbin. That was a nice surprise.

What did I not like?
First off, I found too many similarities between Zada and her men. I did a comparison of them below.

Corbin
Instant love connection/hard f*cking
She’s soaking wet, he just slides in.
Sex as soon as they meet.
So many compliments about how “divine” or some other adjective regarding her body and taste
The pure bliss you got from a blood bond.
He’s going to be the end of her or something along those lines.
He hits her sweet spot.
“How the hell did he do this to me?” [His touch]

Aryn
Instant love connection/hard f*cking

Sex as soon as they met.
So many compliments about how “divine” or some other adjective regarding her body and taste
The pure bliss you got from a mate.
He’s going to be the end of her or something along those lines.
He hits her sweet spot.
“How the hell did he do this to me?” [His touch]

Moving on…

Right off the bat, I was surprised I found so many mistakes in just the very first chapter. When I find mistakes and/or things don’t add up in the story, I have a hard time focusing on any positives, the characters, or really caring what happens to them.
The following were all on the first page
Repetition – “I LIFTED my glowing eyes” and then “before LIFTING to my feet.”
“I climbed UP (also redundancy) another three stories until I pulled myself UP.”
“I reached the roof and PULLED myself up” and “from the bun I’d PULLED them into…”

Incorrect tense – “My home. For now, that is” or “With Price Corbin, that is” or “That’S what a human would think.” At first I thought these instances were supposed to be the protagonist’s inner thoughts, but that’s not the case because, in chapter 9, the first inner dialogue is used, as is commonly done in italics. So I’m assuming the other present-tense usages were accidental. But either way, not having any inner dialogue until chapter 9 is strange. And if that was the first use of inner dialogue, it wasn’t even anything special or important about the character – “Okay, then. That’s not weird at all.” Afterward, more inner dialogue is used. But in chapter 13 when the treaty terms are revealed, it’s written in present tense too. I don’t know.

Others included:

“There was/were” is a passive voice and so easy to get rid of by rephrasing the sentence. I was surprised it was used as often as it was.

“Must” is present tense. The past tense would be “had to.”

I found a lot of unnecessary dialogue tags. Those are a big stickler for me. For example, someone would ask a question and after the dialogue, it was, "I questioned." The reader already knows the character "questioned" something; hence they asked a question. This is just redundancy, in my opinion. Also, I think when a dialogue tag, especially a simple one like she/he said, comes before the dialogue, it doesn’t blend in well with the rest of the narrative as opposed to having the tag at the end.

“Body suit” and “river walk” are both one words.

Incorrect verb - “Ninya asked, LAYING [lying] down on the sofa she was on and putting her legs over the armrest.” And “…where a sleeping figure laid (lay) snoring.” The incorrect word was used multiple times.

Questions/Comments:

The following are areas I wish would have been expanded on:

1. How is the world made up to where some areas have humans who know about the supernatural creatures while others don’t? Or where some cities are described as sounding nothing like a stereotypical human city? How are they hidden from humans?

2. How do they shift into their animal form while wearing clothes? For example, during the fight between Aryn and the mountain lion, “The animal ripped away a chunk of skin and fabric, but it grew back just as fast.” The way the sentence is phrased reads funny/incorrect unless the fabric of his jacket or shirt was able to grow back too. Or "My wings drew back into my spine through small slits in my onyx bodysuit." Does that mean in bat form she's wearing her bodysuit? That it readjusts to her smaller body? But further reading states she's also wearing a trench coat. So how does that work? Does that mean she's wearing boots too...?

3. I’m surprised more talk about having a mate wasn’t brought up. Like Zada is told she has a mate and that’s that.

The following comments relate to—how does she not know or something like that?

1. that vampires, humans, and werewolves intermingled in certain areas when her father is king?
2. about portals?
3. what Muriel, the king of werewolves, especially when he’s the other main king and looks “wild?”
4. Why would she believe humans didn’t worry about anything?
5. What demons feed on?

Moving on…

Zada shoots two werewolves laying near each other, but she approached “the” beast. Which one? The first or second one?

I noticed references to the fact vampires have silver hair and red eyes are used throughout. “He was like me, with the silver hair and the blood-red eyes all vampires share.” Comments are made about her comparing her eyes or hair to another vampire, which makes no sense to me if they’re all the same. Or “Unlike me, a vampire…” Why phrase it like that. By now the reader should know she’s a vampire. Or the unnecessary reference to Corbin as her betrothed. Or the too-much reference to Aryn being a hybrid of vampire, werewolf, and demon was used, for some reason, as though other hybrids are in the story.

Corbin looks at her in such a way that she's not sure what it is. "Lust? I had seen this in the human men I hunted." Hunted but not slept with. So she's never had sex with another vampire who’s been horny for her? That sounds strange. Or what about Corbin’s “slender” dick. Slender? I hear that and think he’s got a thin dick. Deuce Bigelow anyone? The detective with the Twizzler dick. Not very attractive there.

I love things like “placing my hands on my hips,” then “lowering my hands from my waist.” Why? Because it’s incorrect since the hips and waist are two different areas and the hips are lower than the waist, so if you lowered your hands, you wouldn’t go past the waist.

I have no idea how tall Zada is, but the idea of Aryn being able to kiss her and fu*k her at the same time seems unlikely if he’s around seven feet tall.

When Zada has sex with Aryn, he goes to her. She’s up against the wall, so they are nowhere near his blankets when “my juices fall down my ass onto his blankets.”

Aryn grabs a “black tank with cut-off sleeves…” Um… tanks or tank tops don’t have sleeves.
“I didn’t want to lose either of them.” I get she has the bloodlust bond with Corbin but wouldn’t her bloodlust bond with her MATE be stronger?

Her undead heart, undead flesh, I know something else was mentioned that was “undead,” yet when she finds out she’s pregnant, she doesn’t question this fact. Strange.

Gross stuff:

Okay, I get this is fiction but with so much sex—and in a cave!—how was no reference to her wanting to clean up ever made? I mean, come on! She’s not wearing underwear and seems to constantly be leaking from her lady bits INTO A BODYSUIT!

The idea of kissing someone with a dog or wolf-like tongue… No thanks. Or when they’re having sex in the woods and Aryn’s tongue is even bigger in his wolfish form and he
“plunged his massive tongue into my mouth, dancing with my own”… I can only wonder how that worked. I can’t imagine her mouth is that big. Plus a dog/wolf tongue is long. It’s like the idea of frenching my dog. Gross.

I like (not really) how whenever someone’s “coming,” the juices are always spilling out of Zada’s vag*na. Is it that big? Or is there just so much fluid?

Once I got to 60 percent, I had to stop. I mean Zada has bloodlust with two other males, yet is so eager to have another male added even though she supposedly loves Aryn. Not believable. I’ll disregard the fact she wants to have sex with him too. But she could have found him an animal to feed from instead of herself.

description

First of all thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of this amazing book!

Also, how gorgeous is this cover? I can't wait to have it on my shelve. I just know it's going to look amazing there.

If you like your men crazy, and in some cases absolutely fucking crazy. This book might be for you. It's filled to the brim with vampires, lycans, demons, fated mates and crazy ass men.

There are some slight spoilers in this review. Mostly around the love interests. So if you don't want to know their names or anything, it be best if you skip this review.

You know it's going to be a wild ride when chapter one hits you with things like this:

❝This is Corbin, Crown Prince of Neferum. He has been in search of a bride, and I'm happy to say my daughter has caught his attention.❞

Don't be afraid, this won't be your typical 'father gives daughter to the local madman' kinda book. Right? Yes.. No.. Maybe..?

Zada is a badass. She's always been trained to be a warrior. At night she wanders the streets, trailing behind lycans, or humans for that matter. She's not some innocent, weak girl. God, she's fierce, strong and absolutely amazing. Silver hair, red eyes, perfect figure. The ultimate paranormal wet dream.

So, back to that interesting fiancé of hers.

❝Can I kiss you, Zada? We don't have to do more. But it would be such an honor to finally taste you.❞

I was SWOONING. A man who asks for consent? Sign me the fuck up. The fact that he has been waiting on her for centuries, imagining how she tastes, drives me INSANE. Imagine having a man who's that obsessed with you. Sounds like a dream, right?

While Zada's getting dicked down by her vampire fiancé, there's another man waiting patiently for her. And this has everything to do with that vision the seer had all those years ago.

Zada obviously isn't a meek, pliable girl. Oh no. She has to know what those prophecies mean for her, for the future. She needs it to hear for herself.

Imagine you've lived your whole life hating lycans, seeing them as the weaker race, as dirt, disgraces. You've heard the stories, maybe even lived the stories yourself. Vampires are the superior race, lycans are mutts, and demons are just there as some kind of bodyguards. You even hunted them at night, killed them, fought them. Hated them. And there's nothing worse, than mixing these two races. A vampire and a lycan? A hybrid? Impossible. A disgrace. It should never exist.

❝You must find the hybrid.❞

Bitch, what? I could only imagine Zada's facial expressions when the seer told her THAT. Why me? Why now? Why should we even find him? To kill him? Omg, can I kill him?

❝Because you're fated to be mates with Aryn.❞

Oh. Oh. OH SHIT. Boom. No killing the hybrid. Obviously.

Time to tell your fiancé you're off to find your fated mate, to end the upcoming war and save the world. I wonder how he'll react to that. Oh? He sees no problem and hopes you're back i n time for the wedding? What. The. Actual. Fuck. DO YOU SEE ME WAVING THESE RED FLAGS, ZADA?

Unless your man doesn't give a fuck about you and has tons of woman lined up to take your place, there's no way in HELL he'll let you go on a journey to find your FATED mate. Do you even hear how bizarre that is?

So, obviously Zada has questions.

❝But how was I to share myself with two men? Was it possible to have two mates?❞

Good question, Zada. You're asking the right ones. The answer is simple. Two men equal two dicks, meaning you get double the dicks and get double dicked down, maybe even at the same time? I don't see any problems. Honestly, I only see positive sides to this.

But, to achieve that, Zada still has to find her fated mate Aryn. Zada wouldn't be Zada if she didn't dive head first into this adventure. So there she goes, on a wild goose chase, chasing the one thing she absolutely hates.

Surprisingly it doesn't take long to find Aryn. Which surprised me, because the vampires would RIOT if they knew the hybrid was still alive.

But let's not care about that for a moment, because we all know what happens as soon as she smells Aryn. She goes absolutely MENTAL. And I'm SO here for it. Go get him, girl!

And she does.

While you think it'll be awkward, or they'd be guarded around each other, these two prove to be entirely something else. While Zada has the manners to say hello, Aryn just hits her with this:

❝Before we do anything or even discuss anything, I need to feel your tight pussy around me. I fucking need it, Zada.❞

What happened to hello? How are you? I get that Aryn has been waiting on her as well, but hellooooo. It wouldn't hurt to at least say hi, before you put your dick inside of her.

Zada.. Zada immediately jumps on his cock. Obviously. And do I blame her? No. Oh no. I don't blame her. If I had a fated mate I'd jump his bones as well. So fair's fair.

There's this scene though. And I know, I just know it's gonna live rent free on my head. I haven't read something like that since my Wattpad time and even then I was already obsessed with it. I almost squealed when I read it. Gotta love those shifters, huh? It makes for some.. interesting sex.

❝He was mine. His body, his cock, his lips, his fucking soul were all mine.❞

Yes, girl. He's all yours. But you got a crazy fiancé waiting at home, remember? A war brewing? And you still need to find a way to create peace?

Aryn and Zada meet with Muriel. Daddy of all daddies. Daddy of all lycans. And let me tell you. This man is SCARY. He's gigantic, I'm talking long hair, a beard and a fucking six pack. (I might've hoped he got included in Zada's harem? Don't judge me, lol).

He's scary, crazy and crazy hot. But he's also the most intelligent man I've ever seen in a book. I've never seen a man who kept his head that cool while a war's knocking on his door. He was so level headed, so normal and honestly so refreshing. This man thought in solution to avoid a full massacre. He wasn't like the vampires, he had a whole other way of thinking. I absolutely loved that about him. I can honestly say he's one of my favorite characters in this book. This man was funny. I hope we see him a lot more in the next books.

Muriel and Aryn send Zada home with a treaty. She'll be accompanied by two demons, Leo and Ryder. The way I immediately knew Ryder was the third love interest. This man looked at Zada like he wanted to fucking devour her.

❝Get your fucking hands off her.❞

This man growled. This man actually GROWLED. I just know Zada was ready to ride that dick. But the rest of the world isn't ready for that. (Boo) Aryn definitely isn't ready for that, but hey. We have a lifetime to figure that out.

Obviously, shit hit the fan after this. I can't get into this without spoiling the story, but it's TOUGH. It was cruel, unexpected and I might have shed a tear. A lot happens. Things I didn't see coming even though they were right in front of me.

❝My mate was part vampire, part lycan, and part demon. There was a full demon falling in love with me. And my psychotic, bloodthirsty fiancé would stop at nothing to have me.❞

The author did such a good job creating this world and their characters. It's been ages since I read something even close to this. The writing was on point. The characters were on point. Everything just fit. I loved the addition of the Gods. The Goddess of Night is such a bad bitch, I can't wait to see more of her. I'm so here for it.

I just don't think this story classifies as a reverse harem at this point. Maybe (and hopefully) in the future books, but right now? Nope. Yeah, there are three love interests, but not every one is involved with her. Ryder keeps his distance, while Corbin and Aryn are actively fucking Zada. Aryn doesn't share. Ryder doesn't want to step on anyone's toes. Corbin is just.. Corbin.

I'm so happy I got an ARC for this book. I loved it. I absolutely loved it. I can't wait to read the other books.

Coming June 13th

If you want to read a Sexy, Action packed story that gives you "Underworld" vibes then "Wicked Fate" is the book for you.

Blurb: 3 monsters are after Zada’s heart. Lucky girl or Unlucky depending on how you see things.

Corbin is a Vampire Prince (Vampire/Demon) who’s been waiting centuries for her. Prince Corbin is literally obsessed with Zada and has plans with her in mind to rule by his side.

Aryn is a hybrid who is a mixture of bloodlines (Vampire/Lycan/Demon). He is Zada's Fated Mate. Being son of the Lycan King, demon blood runs through his veins. Because of his bloodlines many has turned against him—and Zada who is a Vampire herself. Their relationship is definitely considered taboo.

Lastly; Ryder the demon tasked to protect her. Ryder loves Zada but respects Aryn. Therefore; he refuses to pursue anything with her but is focused on keeping her safe.

A storm is brewing and a war between the Lycans, Demons and Vampires are underway. Betrayal lies at ever corner. Those who Zada thought she could trust has betrayed and deceived her and the ones she has been taught to distrust have become her greatest ally. At this point it's hard to determine who can be trusted as the fate of Vampires, Lycans, Demons and Humankind hangs in the balance.

Zada is the key to bringing an end to this war but at what cost?

Received an Advanced Reader's Copy in exchange for my honest review. This book was EVERYTHING!!! Read It!!!

The blurb of this book really drew me in, but I have to say that I wasn't a big fan of this book.

I wanted to like this book, I really did. But I didn't, unfortunately. I don't want my review to make people not read this book, because you should give it a shot. Just because I like it doesn't mean that you won't. There are good things that happen in this book. For me, the downsides detract from the pros of this book.

There were a lot of things that just didn't work for me in this book:

1. I didn't feel invested in the characters, there wasn't anything that really made me root for anyone in this novel. Nothing made these characters interesting and made me want to read more about them. To me, everyone just kind of felt like the same base character with some different traits here and there.
2. There was a lot of insta-love. If there is something that I really don't like in books, it's this. The FMC and her love interests feel an instant lust towards one another, she's amazed that someone can make her feel like that, and the FMC and LI act on their interest in one another. There's no buildup to anyone being together, it just happens. I feel like there's no chemistry between the FMC and her LIs. The LIs also treated the FMC like she was the greatest thing since sliced bread after knowing her for a couple of minutes, that's just something that appeared frequently to me throughout the novel.
3. The writing. From the beginning of the book, I could tell that I probably wouldn't like the writing, and that stayed true for the whole duration of the novel. There was a lot of repetition of different things (mainly descriptors), which I didn't like. There were also some grammar issues that took me out of the experience of the novel.
4. Plot. Every conflict in this novel was solved in a couple of chapters. Zada needs to find her mate that is in hiding? Great, there's someone that knows that she can go to right when she needs to. Zada needs to escape Corbin after killing her demon bodyguards? Well, she can right away because the demon who lived can somehow maneuver around the wards put in the torture chambers. Zada needs to escape prison because her father wants to kill her after having sex with a hybrid? Good thing her friends are there and get her out with no problems at all. Everything happens conveniently. There's also a lot of things that just don't get explained, such as the whole world that this story happens in. There was so much I wanted to know about the world that were just waved away for the sake of the plot moving forward.

What do you do when you’ve been told on things your whole life and then find out that it couldn’t be farther from the truth? The vampires believe that the Lycans are more animal than human but is that really the case? Zada has been taught that her race (the vampires) are far superior to both the Lycans and the humans. With a war brewing between the vampires and the Lycans things are starting to change. She never expected to be shown things that would make her question everything she’s been taught. Now she has to decide what the best course of action is, not just for herself, but for all the species trying to coexist in her world. Is she up for the task?

The unique world building and epic storyline made this a very binge worthy read! I finished it in one sitting! The history between the vampires and the Lycans was fascinating, and I’m definitely rooting for Zada and her boys! They have a lot of work ahead of them but I think they are up for the task!

This is a fun reverse harem story featuring a badass heroine and her eclectic mix of love interests. We aren’t introduced to all the members of her harem in this book but the ones we do meet are fabulous! This book definitely left me excited for more from this series! It’s a fast paced and addicting read with some spice added in for good measure! If you love books about vampires, werewolves, demons and gods go grab this one right now!

I was sent an ARC of this book to review!

Zada is a vampire, but unbeknownst to her, her fate is out of her hands. Her father wishes to betroth her to Corbin, a vampire prince who’s been waiting for her for centuries. But what nobody knows is that Zada has a fated mate, a hybrid male named Aryn. The only problem? The vampires and the lycans are currently at war. Zada must now make many difficult choices in order to survive and keep everyone safe.

Oh. My. Gosh. This steamy paranormal romance was utterly entrancing! I was drawn into this world the author has created from the very first page. I loved all the different politics between the demons, vampires, and lycans. The world building was incredible as well!!! Even though this is the author’s first book, she is quickly climbing the ranks in my “favorites” list! And as for that ending…. I need book two, like, yesterday!!!

Zada. I love her so much!!! She’s bold, confident, and intelligent, and she’s willing to do anything to protect those she loves. Corbin. He’s handsome and charming, yes, but there’s more to him than that! But without giving too much away, he’s definitely going to surprise you! Aryn. I actually really loved Aryn. He’s the alpha of his pack, which makes him a little growly and possessive, but that just adds to his charm. 5 steamy stars!!!

I received and ARC of this book. I throughly enjoyed it had plot and smut. I would give it a 4.5 stars just because this was advertised as a RH and yes the FMC has multiple love interests but not a true RH to me but I can see it developing and there were some plot gaps that I personally am just picky with or I would have given it 5 stars, but if you enjoy vampires, werewolves, demons and hybrid you will enjoy this. Can’t wait to see what happens in book 2.

Decent story. Brief world building but not so brief you're lost. Some scenes feel rushed. The book itself felt a little rushed but not terrible. Decent writing style. Spice is good 😉 excited to read the next one!

Steam: 3.5/5. Strong Language: 3/5. Triggers: Violence, Assault, Murder, Torture (off page)

Wicked Fate is about incredibly, bada$$, vampire Zada. She's a top lycan hunter for her clan. She receives surprising news after a mission from her father, a Vampire High Council Leader. She is to be wed to the Vampire Prince, Corbin, who has been waiting for her for hundreds of years. She learns she is part of a prophecy. She is integral in bringing an end to the war between vampires and lycans. Zada must seek out her true Fated Mate, a hybrid of vampire and lycan, something that would earn her a death sentence.

Aryn is a vampire, lycan, demon hybrid. He's considered an abomination by vampires. His mother was put to death for his birth and he narrowly escaped the same fate. He lives in lycan territory but not amongst them, preferring solitude. He, too, has been waiting for Zada. She is his true mate. The pull to her is stronger than anything he's ever felt. She is his.

Corbin, in the meantime, is planning to make Zada his wife in the vampire kingdom. He will not give her up.

Zada is torn between the love she feels for these very different men and the loyalty she now has towards both conflicting sides. She's a soldier, never giving in to messy emotions before. Now, she must decide what is the true path for her people. Where does her own heart lie? What would she give to protect those she loves?

Wow. This is a paranormal romance, powerhouse read. It's part action thriller (think Kate Beckinsale in Underworld) and part reverse harem heat. The plot is very strong in this book and an absolute, fantasy lover's joy to read. The world building is carefully and artfully crafted. The author pulls some ideas from popular canon but comes up with her own spin on things, as well. This was an intriguing storyline from start from to finish. The characters were original and compelling. There are lots of twists and turns and you're never sure who to trust. It's the kind of book that makes you wish your brain could read faster, so you know what's happened. I can't wait for Book Two.

**I received a free ARC Copy of this book for my honest review. This is my own opinion.

5 ⭐ I loved it. I’ll revisit it like an old friend. This book is moving right into my favorites category. I would recommend it to everyone, even people that don’t ask. I’ll one click this author’s work in the future.
4 ⭐ A great read. I’ll probably reread again when feeling nostalgic. It was enjoyable, not portable magic. I would recommend it.
3 ⭐ I liked it. It was a nice way to pass the time. I doubt I’ll reread it. I’d recommend it to someone asking for a specific genre. Thanks for the memories.
2 ⭐ I completed the Herculean task of finishing this book. At times, it felt like I was Prometheus and the suffering would never end. It just wasn’t for me but I applaud the author for their effort.
1 ⭐ I couldn’t finish this book or I wish I hadn't finished. How do I put this? It’s not me, it’s you.

I was super intrigued when I read the blurb for the book. It held the promise of vampires, demons, fated mates and so much more. The cover is gorgeous. I couldn’t wait to be immersed in the underworld with Zada and her three monsters.

Zada is a hunter, a fierce badass warrior who roams the streets at night looking to rid the world of Lycan or to feed on unknowing humans that fall prey to her charm and beautiful looks. Zada’s people are deadlocked in a constant war that has up until this point stayed hidden in the darkness, but that is all about to change. Their very existence is at risk if their world is revealed it may all be over.

“Shadows kept me hidden in this dusty alleyway. Hidden from them. The humans.”

Zada’s father sits on the high council. She is completely shocked when he announces her upcoming nuptials to Corbin, a vampire prince she has never met but is instantly drawn to. Corbin has been waiting for Zada for as long as he can remember. He’s been in love with her since the beginning of time. He knows together they can rule their changing world. But he isn’t the only one after Zada’s heart. She has three equally gorgeous, intriguing monsters that crave her. Aryan is a hybrid and part lycan. The very people Zada has been taught to hate and so many have died at her hands. Now some prophecy says she may be the key to ending the war and Aryan may play a huge part in that? As if enough isn’t already happening here and throwing everything that Zada thought she knew completely out of whack…enter Ryder. The very demon tasked to keep her safe is also madly in love with her. Three hot monsters...each desires her and she desires them. The world they know is on the brink of a war so big that it may destroy everything. She may be the key to saving it all. What is a girl to do?

“I craved more, almost as much as blood.”

This book had so many things I usually love. Fated mates, vampires, three insanely hot, sex driven men. A kick ass heroine who can more than hold her own. Secrets, lies, betrayals and darkness around every corner. Some crazy hot sex scenes and non stop action. And Ryder? I loved Ryder. Usually all those amazing details combined work wonders in a book. But unfortunately most of this book was very confusing. Too much, too fast, too soon. I loved the whole concept and hoped to connect but sadly I didn’t. I loved Ryder. The sex scenes were hot but everything went from one extreme to the other. I didn't feel any build up or flow. It made it hard to connect and really get into it. She's always hated and killed lycan but one may be her fated mate and two seconds later ooops she fell on your dick. Just a lot of all over the place and it felt disconnected. I did like the whole idea of the story. I think I could have really gotten into the world the author built if there was more build up. This one did end on a cliffhanger.

“Maybe we both were monsters. Maybe we both were sick.”

I was given an ARC copy so thank you author for the opportunity, but honestly maybe I was not the right audience for you.

I can finish a book in 2 days at most. A book that is 50k words can be finished in a night for me. I started May 27, and pushed through for days to finish it. I finished it June 6- So unnatural of me. I argued with myself to DNF the book every time.

I felt like the book was unnecessarily descriptive. but it was well written. And don't get me wrong, I am a sucker for insta-love/ sex. However Zada did not give me any vibes throughout 16% of the book and then at 17%, she's kissing and getting dirty with prince Corbin. See I thought yeah, prince Corbin personality fit the insta love trope. totally into that!

Zada did not and I thought she was going to fight trying to be with corbin because her goal in the beginning was to fight in this war against the lycan- not marriage. Which I was like yes this is also a really sexy trope.

I thought it was just a huge character break of Zada from what we know in the beginning and her doing that to Corbin was like a big shocker. And then the others... And the sex felt so rushed and unsensual- is that a word? Unsensual? How is "it was like the world had been set aflame" but nothing else. There was no emotional attachment to the sex. How can someone be mated or fated to someone but yet sex is just sex- no emotion tied. I mean im sure zara had feelings for them but it was not expressed through the writing that it was more than just sex.

Maybe this book isn't meant to be romantic and its all plot and sex, and that's why there are some negative reviews about this book. I think some of the readers were expecting more romance- I was. Maybe its not meant to be romantic because of the lack of emotion in the book. I mean the author did go to a smut facebook group (which is how she found me as an ARC) and asked for readers. But with smut books it should be corresponding with romance especially if there is more than one partner-- right? Isn't that why smut books sell- it's the romance that we thrill on, and sex is a bonus? If the sex has no emotion attached, how is it romantic?

Some good things about this book, the author is a wonderful writer with great ideas. Beautiful cover. I just dont think this was the right trope for this book.

Thank you for the chance to read.

I first want to thank the author for sending me an ARC of her book Wicked Fate. I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was very detailed and she used great descriptions. I was very enthralled from the beginning and it kind of had an air similar to Underworld movies for me. I liked the darkness with the Vampires, Lycans and Demons. There were some good twists in the storylines.

Spoilers below***

Some things I had a hard time with were:
she was quick to bed both of the men. Right away, she immediately was dripping and couldn’t stop herself. She had to sleep with them. I would have liked her to have at least a conversation with them first before jumping in the sack with them.
She also was drawn to another man who she wanted to sleep with. She had this mate who she loved but yet couldn’t stop thinking of this third man. This kind of had me rolling my eyes a bit.
I was confused with the whole flying as a bat thing and then shifting back into her regular form fully dressed and the wings went back into her spine into slits. How did she have her clothes and boots, weapons?
I was also confused how she was having sex with her mate while he was shifting in the middle and she was also being f*cked by his lycan form and she was kissing his lycan mouth. This seemed kind of gross to me.

Aside from these things listed I did really like the overall plot and am excited to see what’s in store for the next book! I also am hoping for more from Aryn her mate as I feel his part was not as big.

This book is it! Ok so I just finished reading the ARC and to say I’m hooked is a understatement, I’m obsessed . You get so many things with this book..vampires, lyicans, a hybrid, demons, gargoyles , a seer. I mean this book just keeps giving . Wicked Fate is a insta love, slow burn RH and an all around spicy read. But don’t worry it’s not all about the spice (even though its really good) your getting a story with a lot of action & so many twists and turns. This is a definite page turner. I’m all about fantasy type stories that are set in a modern world and you get such a good blend here. The way Monique Stokes gives each part of the world such a different feel was chefs kiss. I could just keep going on about how much I loved this book and the characters but seriously you just need to go READ IT! I’m so excited for what’s next in this world. This is a smutty, smutty book with some good old bloody action so please check the warnings make sure your comfortable. A definite recommend read for me. Happy reading book besties 💙Be warned this book does ended in an unfinished, what the heck , cliffhanger type of way …so enjoy😱😝

A literary feast for any who love to indulge their vampiric fantasies. This book left me craving more. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I am a slower reader but I found this book very binge-worthy and the first person POV made it easy to become immersed in the world Ashley created. I feel her description of the world was nicely described.

If I could add a bit of constructive criticism, I do feel that the length of the book could have been a bit longer as some of the relationships didn’t have quite the detail or the building of history they could have as I feel Zada’s meetings were brief and the story was a tad fast paced. But overall, I got the picture and still really enjoyed the characters and story. Hopefully we get to know the characters more in the next book.

Finally. Thank you to the author Ashley Olivier for my advanced reader copy of Wicked Fate in exchange for an honest review.

I’ll be honest I’m not entirely sure how I feel about everything that went down in Wicked Fate. It took me about 50-60% in before I started rolling through it and became invested. That’s not unusual for me tho, it actually happens about 25% of the time, so I wasn’t put off by it. (Mood reading doesn’t make reading easy.)

I really enjoyed the idea behind the book and am interested to see where Monique takes the story. However it got to a point (within the last handful of chapters) where I was a bit overwhelmed. It just felt like a lot of things being thrown at you during such a short time period. It wasn’t that I didn’t find the new information intriguing, it just felt like too much at once.

I do think Wicked Fate was an awesome new take on vampires, werewolves, and demons, and the plot is unique as well! So I’m excited to see where Zada’s story will take us after that cliffhanger! (And boy was it a big cliffy!)

I was given an ARC of this book by the author and I’m so glad o got the opportunity to read this spicy fast story!

This book follows Zada who is a super BA Hunter/warrior who finds herself engaged to Corbin , a vampire prince. We also meet Aryan - a hybrid lycan, which Zada has been raised to hate and essentially hunt down. Then we get Ryder - a demon.

What happens when you combine a Hunter, 3 delicious men, and a world on the brink of war? You get a collision of spice, drama, and emotions.

This book was a really well done first book for a series, I do think at times things needed to be slowed down so we could develop more character depth in this type of story, but all in all, I did enjoy this read! I’ll definitely be anticipating the next release! There is a lot of potential here and I can’t wait to see where the author takes us!

I was intrigued by this book after reading the synopsis. I was immediately reminded of the movie ‘Underworld’ and wanted to see how this reverse harem would play out.

Unfortunately, this book didn’t meet my expectations. I didn’t resonate with any of the characters as this book was too fast paced for me to make any connections. I didn’t like the fmc’s interactions with the love interests. It was too insta-lovey for me, which is a trope I don’t like. There was no connection between them, only lust, which I didn’t like.

But this is a uniquely constructed world - I liked the premise of vampires and lycans being at war. The cliffhanger ending was nicely done and sets up the quest for the second book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5

Zada’s life is turned upside down when she meets the man she is engaged to. He is the Prince of Vampires. Set out on a quest by a seer she meets someone that changes her life. Suddenly, the world she thought she knew isn’t what she was brought up to believe. Will she be able to stop a war that will harm her race and the innocents from others? Will she be able to fight evil and prevail? You will just have to read to find out. I honestly really wanted to love this book but it fell a little flat for me. I thought the book moved really fast and could have had more detail in certain parts. Overall, it was a fun read for me.

This was a fast paced start to the series full of action that kept me reading. I did not see the twist of Corbin coming! I would say the steam level for this book is a 3/5. At this point, I don't think I would consider it a RH but maybe it's slow burn and Zada has further love interests in the next book? I'm interested to see if anything develops with Ryder and if Aryn actually allows anything to happen as Zada is his mate. The ending was interesting and ended on a cliffhanger, I will definitely pick up the next book to see where this story goes!

Wicked Fate is an entertaining Vampire/Lycan fast-burn romance. Zada is a vampire who serves as Lycan hunter in the war between the two races. She has been promised to one mate but destined for another.

I enjoyed the dynamic between Zada and her different men but felt some of the romance was a bit rushed (insta-love scenarios with no relationship development before the boots were knocking). However, the s3x scenes were spicy and enjoyable.

The book ends in a cliffhanger, and I am excited to find out what happens next.

I recommend this book for those who appreciate fast-burn, fated mate stories with a paranormal flare. 3.5/5

This is a great start to a series. I loved how this author wrote the lycans, vampires, demons and gods for this world.

The FMC was written as a strong fighter who is still a bit niave. The story set up was great just wanted a little bit more background, maybe there will be more in the next one.

I was skeptical about the love interests at first but can't wait to find out what happens with them. Especially one in particular *wink wink*

All in all a pretty great first read from this author! I will be watching for the second one.

I got this as an arc

I don’t read many vampire and Lycan books so I wasn’t sure if I would like this book%

I was immediately pulled in from the very first page amd fell in love with The characters and I didn’t want this book to end.

I highly recommend you read this book as it’s really good.

✨ ARC Review ✨

Wicked Fate by Monique Stokes

——————————————————

I stood, scoffing, “I’m just eager to handle this war. Love can wait.”

——————————————————

⭐️: 3/5
🌶: 2/5

——————————————————

Let me start by saying that my rating is absolutely about my personal opinions for some of the elements in this story. Some of you may absolutely love what I didn’t like about this story.

This story is extremely fast paced, so this means we’re jumping right into the action with little world building. I found myself slightly lost at times when it came to the different species and how they acted/how they look bodily wise. Granted, this is to be expected from a fast paced story, so again, this is just something that bothered me personally.

Insta-love. I’m normally fine with insta-love especially if it means we get to see a couple actually be a couple. But in this story, there were two cases of insta-love within the span of days. Days. So I think that’s what didn’t work for me. Again, personal opinion.

Now, this story is classified as a reverse harem, and I’m honestly interested in seeing at how that’s going to happen. We were introduced to three potential love interests as indicated in the synopsis. Two cases of insta-loves and one instant attraction (but nothing happened). Now, one of her love interests flat out said he won’t share her with anyone else, and it hurts that she’s even considering being with someone else. And him saying this is why she didn’t act on the instant attraction she had with the third dude. And then there’s what happened with the first guy. I can’t say because it spoils the story, but it definitely has me questioning how this story is going to be a reverse harem.

This a fast-paced, insta-love fantasy read. There are demons, vampires, lycans, gods, etc. There’s also blood play happening. Also, an accidental/surprise pregnancy for those that need that warning. This is my honest review involving the elements that didn’t work with me personally. What didn’t work for me may be what someone else loves about this story. We all have our own opinions, and this is simply mine.

Yeah... I don't recommend this book. The first spicy scene was so bad that I showed it to several coworkers who all switched between laughing and cringing over how bad it was. This is basically Underworld fanfiction (very poor fanfiction).
Zada, the main character is a pick-me type who "isn't like other vampires," because she wears a leather bodysuit and fights werewolves (only ever fought 1 in the entire book) instead of lounging on couches like other vampires.
The 2 main love interests were both gross in their own ways, and the descriptions in the spicy scenes immediately turned me off. And Zada just absolutely cannot control herself and immediately has sex and cheats with any attractive dude that she sees without question. Not a fan...
The only guy that I had some hopes of, Ryder, didn't even have any scenes, because he actually respects the fact that she has a "mate" already. The only genuinely good dude.
Outside of that, it was a struggle getting through the vaguely-written and poor plot, mixed in with cringey quips from every character. The characters outside of the main character and her lovers only exist as filler, and you can definitely tell, as they have no personality. Her father's personality is solely existing as her father. Her cliche 2 friends' personalities are being Zada's friends. Everyone exists for her, and it's just really disappointing.

Spoiler: This book decided to take it to a whole other level and add the most disgusting romance trope of a surprise pregnancy... like 2 days after sex with the hybrid guy no less. It definitely could have been vampire dude's baby too, but that doesn't move the plot along, so...

Great Potential

This book has some huge potential to take off. The writing style felt very amateurish to me, but that leaves a lot of room for improvement in upcoming books. The writing was very repetitive, repeating information we already knew multiple times. But the storyline was great. It reminded me of the movie Underworld.

One of my other major issues with this book was the main character. It seemed like there was little to no tension at all with Zada. She was just overtly accepting of everything that was happening to her. She had no fight, no rebellion, and the instalove with MULTIPLE men? I understand the concept of the bloodlust but everything in this story just felt too easy to me. I would have loved to see some defiance or some slow burn between characters who are supposed to be sworn enemies. There just wasn’t enough tension throughout the books.

So first off I liked this book. I think the story has potential with that being said. It was very fast paced, which I feel meant the story had to be rushed. I think more time should be spent on world-building and character development so that the flow of the story fits better. The characters are a bit plain because there is no time to get to know them or see their personalities meaning that they can become forgettable. The potential is there I just believe that if the author doesn't rush the story so it can develop organically it would be a much better story. I plan to read the 2nd book when it comes out and hope to see that it slows down it's pace and we are able to really get to know that characters and learn more about the world and the beings in it.
