But nothing quite beats the satisfaction of closing a case.
Unfortunately, some cases are harder to crack than others.
And finding my psychotic uncle might just be the most difficult assignment of all.
My team and I aren’t going to give up that easily, though.
When a one-night-stand gone wrong results in an unexpected partnership,
I must set aside my principles in order to save my brother’s life.
Taking care of the hired assassin is only the first step,
To keep my family truly safe, I must stop evil at its source.
My uncle needs to be stopped,
But the path to him is filled with illusions,
and the only way forward is by fracturing them all.
Suggested Reading order: Chaotic (Arcane Mage Series book 1) Hectic (Arcane Mage Series book 2)Erratic (Arcane Mage Series book 3) Frenetic (Arcane Mage Series book 4) Ecstatic (Arcane Mage Series book 5) Deadly Illusions (Arcane Agent book 1) Charismatic (Arcane Mage Series book 6) Fractured Illusions (Arcane Agent book 2) Twisted Illusions (Arcane Agent book 3)
*Author note: This book is the second book in a spinoff series of the Arcane Mage Series. It's a direct continuation of Deadly Illusions, with events taking place alongside Charismatic. This book is a paranormal reverse harem story with slow build, where the heroine doesn't have to pick among her romantic interests. It has a strong female character as lead, lots of cursing, violence, magic, and sexual content. Because of that, it's not recommended for readers below the age of 18.*
A scientist at heart, T.S. Snow lives in a land far far away, secluded from most authors and readers (rumor has it that if you open your wardrobe you can find her hiding in there trying to take a nap). T.S. has a thirst for learning new languages, even if she is mostly worried about finding out new curse words in them. She has an amazing support system that include a loving boyfriend, her family, friends and her loyal - if completely lazy - dog. When she's not writing, T.S. can often be found causing complete chaos with her friends on social media, inhaling unhealthy amounts of coffee, or napping. Mostly napping.
2.5* but rounded down. Loved Ryder, hated the plot "development". I'm not sure T.S. Snow's work is for me anymore. I'm just not enjoying the reading experience of reading page after page of inner monologue but basically nothing happening plot wise. Why would I wait more than a year for an empty book like this? It was the same with the later books of the Arcane Mage series. Not sure, if I'll pick up the next one.
WARNING! Cliffhanger! Ok this isn’t too traumatic (unlike the last one), but there are lots of storylines just hanging… waiting. It’s about a 3/5 on my trauma scale, which is to say, tolerable.
NOTE: You need to have read book one in the series, since this is a continuation of that story. If you haven’t read Charisma’s books in this series, it’s not imperative that you do so, but this WILL spoiler that for you, and this DOES make more sense having read those in the recommended order first.
Blair is still working with her team trying to figure out where Ricardo has gone, when a new threat arises. Working with an old friend, and a new flame, she as to alleviate this threat before she can go back to trying to rid the world of the manipulative mage that threatens her family.
Book two of the series, lets us get to know the other two men in Blair’s harem. While the two agent hotties do their thing (and we do get to hear from them some), Blair is having fun, and trying to avoid danger, with the other two men she’s felt the soulmate pull from. This book is really our main introduction to Ryder, who seems absolutely crazy: from his expectant certainty about everything, to his pet names and weird fashion and food choices. He’s definitely the star of this book, even beating out Nana! Speaking of her, I can’t wait for Ryder and Nana to meet; just thinking of how much trouble the two of them in a room together might create makes me laugh. While Ryder and Daniel take up a lot of focus in this story, we do get to see the best of Lucien and Callum too, especially since the latter actually got his head out of his arse, and actually started acting better.
Despite the fact that the book ends with ever-so-many unfinished threads, it’s an entertaining, and at times amusing read. It’s interesting to watch how the story unfolds, and how Blair’s harem begins to gel together, at least partly. We do get to see some of the events mentioned in Charisma’s book unfold in this book too, most of it occurring off page however. An enjoyable and entertaining read, this is for those who enjoyed Charisma’s story, and for reverse harem/urban fantasy fans out there.
I enjoyed this book, and the way it connected with the arcane mage series. However, I wish that one series ended before the other started. It can be a bit confusing with the various timelines and the length between releases to figure out what’s happened versus what hasn’t happened yet. I’d recommend fully reading the other series before this, even though that’s not the recommend order. While the timing will still be jumbled, I think it might making the reading experience a bit easier. I also wish that I had waited until it was a complete series before starting. But at this point, I’m too invested to wait.
I feel like we could've read Char's last book and Blairs second at the same time. with so many overlapping spicy mysteries.
but anywhoooo....
I enjoyed where this went. I honestly was not expecting half of the twist and turns we got. and it's amazing seeing our little pookie build her own little harem...
Aww, I can't believe it's over. I am sure I would be eagerly waiting for the next one. Ryder is my favorite, followed by Lucien and Callum. Daniel, though I liked him before he sounded a bit selfish when it came to his brother. He knew something important but he didn't want to tell Blair. Though, it was better coming from Ryder, but still..
This book brings us up to date with where the story ends for Charisma and I can't wait to see what the next book has install for Blair and her men in their hunt for Riccardo. Blair is such a fun fmc and while i wish i understood her hesitancy to bond with her soul mates more I'm loving seeing her soften to them. It's going to be interesting seeing some of the guys reactions when the truth starts coming out, both about blairs family and about their connection to her
I totally get Char's girl crush on Blair cause I'm in the same boat! But she really needs to work on her commitment issues. That being said with Ryder and Daniel now fully in the picture....well let's just say things are very interesting. Looking forward to more.
What do you get when you cross a well written book with lovable characters and a series that you want to know all the things? A sleepless night. 😁 I need more of Blair and her guys. Great book and totally would suggest this series.
I Love this series! I’d even go as far as to say I Like Blair and her men better than Char and her men!! I just love a kick arse heroine! And the sexy times are SCORCHING HOT!! I can’t wait for the next book!!
While there is a some good spice this story has a slow burn feel to it and is plot heavy. It’s a great read for anyone who wants an action packed, fun plot and a lot of emotions! I’m excited to watch Blair find her HEA with her men, and maybe get to see Ryder meet Grandma Alma for some pure chaos in the future!
