A love that spans the galaxy—a bond that won’t be denied.

The Cygnian people are facing extinction. Offspring are rare and almost all are male. Without hope for finding a soulmate and creating a family of his own, Nuar follows his crown prince on a strange mission to a primitive planet filled with sentients whose apparent fragility hides strengths he would never have expected.

Lian Wei wants to keep working on her agricultural research without distractions. She’s one of the few Earthlings who know that aliens exist—and that they need Earth’s help to survive on worlds ravaged by overharvesting their resources. To make things worse, a new faction has risen in the galaxy determined to wage war.

The Cygnians have been neutral in the battles up to now, but with their sudden and unexpected interest in Earth, there’s a chance at an alliance that could further protect the aliens Lian now calls friends. She wants to help, but when Nuar and his fellow Cygnian warriors arrive in her home town, she can’t seem to get a grip on her reaction to Nuar.

Together, will they find a path to a better future for both of their people, or will their fears and preconceptions destroy their chance at a happy ever after?

4.5 As charming as The Office of Homeworld Security, this first in the spin-off series has the same charming and light-hearted narrative style as it setups the back story for the continuing series. Nuar and his fellow aliens are very much in the standard 'hunky alien' format and the action and is as well done as the steam. Also, there is Ed, and awesome St. Bernard. And a crystal space ship.

I will definitely be reading the next two in the series.

I loved this book! Book one in the series, I can't wait to get my hands on more!

Nuar is part of an elite military team that is accompanying the Prince of Cygian to earth to meet with a team of aliens on earth that are trying to slowly introduce the idea of aliens to the planet. They have started with one town in Kansas to see how to approach the introduction. It is going well, but not everyone is thrilled to have the Cygian's there. They are an insular people that are not known for their friendliness to other species. On the first day there, Nuar gets into a fight with another alien species. Well, just two male aliens trying to prove who is the stongest! What fun - or not! They manage to destroy a car, damage several buildings and destroy a huge greenhouse. Lian has worked hard to get the amazing greenhouse up and going and the plants are doing great! Until two huge aliens manage to destroy it in a few short minutes. She may be little, but these two aliens are about to feel the rath of one angry female! Nuar is amazed when this little human goes after him. He is immediately attracted to her but the feeling is not mutual. She ends up slugging him and breaking her hand. Of course he has to fix it, since he is a medic! She doesn't understand the way she feels when he touches her. She is trying really hard to stay mad at him!

This book is so funny but also very touching. Watching the big tough male fall head over heals for the female earthling is so cute! And when danger strikes, it's Nuar to the rescure!

I picked this up at a free ebook event because I do like Alien romance and this one has a Chinese heroine! Yay for that.

Nuar is a Cygnian who comes to earth as part of his crown prince Kral’s Prism. They want to interact with the different species in Harbor and perhaps find a solution to their people’s problem of having children.

Lian Wei, a human, helps to maintain the green house and enjoys living and working with different species in the same place.

I thought the concept of the Prism, a group with different eye colours of the rainbow was unique and how the Cygnian people’s technology and abilities function was interesting. Not too lengthy, I could get behind the quirky and awkward way the couple get together and learning about different alien species was fun. But it was tough to keep up with the relationships between the species (I didn't read the companion series). Nuar might have done some silly things at first but he apologised and wanted to learn. I wished there was more interaction between Lian and her father, plus more Chinese culture.

Tropes: Fated mates, found family

Cassandra Chandler had me at Harbor, Kansas! A perfect setting for the good-guy space aliens to "harbor". Once I lived in a small Missouri town so I could identify with the setting right off the bat. Good choice! Earthling Lian Wei is just trying to do her thing without additional drama. Yeah. Like that's going to happen! Nuar "drops" into her agricultural research greenhouse, and into her life. And what's a scifi alien story without a good space battle for dominance in the universe? This is a compelling page turner that will have you cheering for the good guys and also wanting more! Don't worry. This is the first of a series.

This book just didn't work for me. The hero arrives on earth and goes to a town that knows aliens exist and lives with aliens in the town. So one of his first actions is to get into a friendly brawl with an alien from a species he has never fought before. They break the greenhouse and ruin a bunch of the heroine's plants. She is angry.

I thought the hero seemed very immature.

Wow! What a fun book! I loved Nuar and Lian’s explosive relationship from the start. He was instantly smitten and so was she. Entertaining characters and storyline with great world building and sexy times. I can hardly wait for Kral and Becca’s story!

This was the first book by this author I have read. I am a big SciFi/Fantasy reader, and apparently I could be a big fan of Alien Romance as well! The story was fun and playful and left off with room for many more stories to be told.

Short, fluffy book. I didnt LOVE Lian's behavior for a good portion of the book. Felt too over the top. I don't know if I will read more just because it was so short and is not a KU book.
