Rate this book
When a runway model in 1940s Hollywood makes a split-second decision intended to protect those she loves, she triggers a cascade of secrets that threatens to upend her daughter’s life decades later.

After winning a prestigious fashion design contest in 1948, Aster Kelly flees the world of modeling in New York and arrives in Beverly Hills to claim her a design apprenticeship with Fernando Tivoli. But Fernando has no such job available. He’s busily preparing for the opportunity of a lifetime—proving to Galaxy Studios that he is the perfect couturier for their A-list stars. The moment he meets Aster, though, he knows she’s the missing ingredient he needs and asks her to be his stand-in model for Lauren Bacall. Aster is dismayed to once again have her creative potential sidelined, but when Fernando promises to mentor her if he wins the contract, she agrees.

Aster and Fernando quickly become romantically entangled with Hollywood insiders—Aster with the head of Galaxy Studios, Fernando with their biggest up-and-coming star, Christopher Page—and Aster and Fernando’s friendship becomes essential as they navigate a glamorous and complicated existence where what’s real must often be hidden, and no one is quite who they seem. As Aster’s ambitions grow and she faces a crisis, and Fernando’s future is threatened by the judgmental Hollywood machine, Aster makes a decision that changes the trajectory of their lives forever.

Twenty-five years later, despite knowing little of her mother’s time in Hollywood and being raised well outside the reaches of fame, Aster’s daughter Lissy is poised to become a Broadway star. But when the musical gets off to a rocky start, Lissy makes a rash decision of her own in an attempt to save the show. And when long-buried secrets blindside them both, mother and daughter are forced to question everything they thought they knew.

The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly is a story about the bonds of chosen family, the cost of fame and the enduring strength of love that will keep you guessing until the last page.

The Golden Age of Hollywood seemed to so many a glamorous, gorgeous, time when beauty, fashion, and love reigned. Aster Kelly, winner of a fashion award heads to Beverly Hills and the supposed apprenticeship to the well know Fernando Tivoli, as he diligently works to partner with Galaxy Studios. The apprenticeship disappears but before her dreams of fame do as well, Fernando offers her a modeling job, a position she had held at home in her former job. Things happen and Aster is draw into a world where appearances are not what really goes on as the spotlight is on actors and actresses.

She meets and becomes involves with Mr. Sawyer, the head of Galaxy and his newest star Christopher Page. Secrets emerge and Aster finds herself making a decision she never thought she would have made.

Jump ahead to 1975, when Aster's daughter, Lissy, grown to adulthood, is looking to break into showbiz. She is unaware of who her real father is and that secret threatens to break the strong bond she has with her mother.

In this book, we enter the world of both Hollywood and Broadway. It may look alluring to many, but the backstory is far from that. Recommended for those who are drawn to the glitz and glamour but are also aware of the background of the industry and how to get ahead.

Thanks you to Katherine A. Sherbrooke,Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the ability to listen to this story which published this June.

In 1948, Aster Kelly is tired of being a model in New York, she wins a fashion design contest and she moves to Beverly Hills and her prize is an apprenticeship with fashion designer Fernando Tivoli. Fernando is busy trying to secure the contract with Galaxy Studios, and to dress four of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Gary Cooper, Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart.

The only job he has available is as a model and body double and Aster takes it, and she meets the charismatic head of Galaxy Studios Mr. Sawyer and his newest star Christopher Page. Aster is drawn into the glitzy world of Hollywood, she becomes romantically involved with Mr. Sawyer and is friends with Fernando and Christopher. Aster isn’t prepared for the other side to Hollywood, to be famous actors and actresses have to make huge personal sacrifices, maintain a good public image, lots of things are covered up and it’s all about making money at the box office. When Fernando business and reputation are questioned, Aster makes a split second decision and it will change the course of her life.

The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly has a dual timeline, it’s told from the two main female characters points of view and I had no problems following the interesting narrative.

In 1975, Lissy Horowitz is determined to become a Broadway star, there is lot of competition and she's lost track of how many auditions she's done, and Lissy has to excel at three things; singing, dancing and acting. Lissy finally gets her big break, but the musical isn’t getting great feedback from the previews and the producers are desperate for it to be a success. Lissy doesn’t know a lot about her father, she knows he was an actor in Hollywood, he died when she was a baby and afterwards her mother Aster moved to Martha’s Vineyard. Lissy makes a decision, long buried secrets will be revealed, it will shake the foundations of the strong relationship she has with her mother and Lissy will be left questioning her heritage.

I received a copy of The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly by Katherine A. Sherbrooke from Edelweiss and Simon & Schuster in exchange for an honest review. The author has written an engrossing and absorbing historical saga about Hollywood and Broadway, it highlights the price people paid for fame, how they lived under a microscope and the control studios and producers had over them. A story about friendship, non-traditional families, and a mothers bond with her daughter, fashion, power, sacrifice, lost love and hidden secrets. Five stars from me, it certainly kept me guessing until the last page and the end wasn’t at all predictable.

(4.5 stars.)

This is like, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, but gender swopped and set in the fashion and Broadway world. I'm here for it.

The hidden life of Aster Kelly operates on two levels. First, we have Aster in 1948 LA, where ex model Aster is trying to get an internship with the young fashion legend, Fernando Tivoli. (We love Fernando.) While Fernando doesn't quite have the money yet to take her on, he immediately recruits her to be his model in his next big event, and Aster hesitantly accepts. In this time, Aster and Fernando become the bestest of besties, Fernando starts to help her with her designs, opens up to her about being gay, and Aster even finds herself involved with Sam. Sam is a bigshot Hollywood guy that frankly needs to have his ass kicked. Especially when Aster finds herself pregnant, and Fernando's secret relationship is threatened. We then flip to 1975 New York, where Aster's daughter, Lissy, is trying to make it as a Broadway star. Throughout her trials and tribulations, the secrets and lies Aster has made slowly bubble up to the surface. And when Lissy's world starts to crumble around her, those lies might just be the catalyst to finally destroy it all.

Normally, I'm not a huge fan of historical fiction. I am, however, a fan of romance and Broadway. Now, having finished THLOAK, I have discovered I also have a fascination with fashion. What I'm trying to say is the concept and execution of this story was seamless and whisked me away like any good Broadway show.

The first major thing I want to point out about THLOAK is the writing style. Aster's and Lissy's storylines are told in parallel, with each character getting a handful of chapters before breaking into the next part, where the other character mirrors the plot progress. It definitely creates a lot of intrigue, especially in Lissy's early parts when we haven't seen how Aster's plans have unfolded. The chapters also do a fantastic time of covering large spans of time in summary, just to focus back in on important fully written scenes. I will say this is a very distant third person narration, so we don't get as up close and personal with Lissy and Aster like I usually prefer. Yet, I think this distance is what enables the fluid pass of time.

The other comment of note I'd like to point out is something I also noticed in The Vanishing Half (highly recommend). As Lissy is going through her life, we see her presented with decisions that Aster also had to face, and Aster would say she chose wrong. Lissy is almost presented as a second chance, a way for Aster's bad decisions to play out differently. To chase love or let it go for career? The choice to abandon a stuttering passion and find a new one.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read. I haven't really touched on it yet, but I appreciate the angle of how gay people were viewed in the 1940s: the fear, the prosecution, the lengths they had to go just to be who they are that nevertheless doesn't prevent them from constantly having to look over their shoulders. There was also a subplot about not being white on Broadway in 1975, which becomes even more interesting now that musicals like Hamilton have been calling out that trend. Overall, well done.

Oh the glamour! The heartbreak! Hollywood in 1950, Broadway in the 70s. Mother and daughter, two eras, both striving to make their mark, earn their way. I love Aster and Lissy, Fern and Benny, how hard they work for the kind of love they deserve, what they’re willing to sacrifice and what they will not. Fantastic read for fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Aster Kelly has won a very prestigious design contest. She leaves New York to be an apprentice for the famous Fernando Tivoli. She falls for all the glamour of old Hollywood. And Fernando falls for an up and coming Hollywood star, Christopher Page. But, life is very difficult for these two because of the stigma of their relationship. When Aster finds herself pregnant, these three devise a plan.

This story is told in two different time periods. One is Aster at a young age and the other is her daughter, Lissy as she struggles to be a Broadway star. And then the secrets start to come out! I loved Aster, Fernando, Christopher and Lissy. These four are amazing and their tale will keep you consumed for hours!

This story captured me from start to finish. I listened to it in one day. And no, I did not see the twist coming. And you will have to read this to find out. And believe me, there are quite a few twists and turns!

I enjoyed another book by this author, Leaving Coy Hill. So, y’all check both of these out! I am definitely putting Katherine A. Sherbrooke on my “lookout list”!

The narrator, Emily Beresford, is one of my new favorites. She was Aster for me!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

Happy Release day to this beauty! The Hidden life of Aster Kelly by Katherine A. Sherbrooke ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.🌟

Blurb: After winning a prestigious fashion design contest in 1948, Aster Kelly flees the world of modeling in New York and arrives in Beverly Hills to claim her prize: a design apprenticeship with Fernando Tivoli. My thoughts: WAIT A SECOND! For a second there I thought I was reading one of TJR's many celebrity books! That's how good this one was! First off what a completely different world Hollywood was back in the 50's, so glamorous, so scandalous but back then they did everything they could to hide the scandels! It was so fun being submersed in that world and with these characters, I loved them so much! And the storyline was heartbreaking and beautiful and that plot twist! Anyway! You should pick this one up!

The glamour of the 40s women in Hollywood has a way of cloaking every. single. sacrifice that was made by women who were likely fearful, feeling very alone, and without any other option. Meet Aster Kelly, a woman with dreams who quickly finds herself with a one way ticket that’s been handed to her, that she has to take and that she has to give up everything for.

I love traveling between different decades and watching someone’s stories (and secrets) unfold. Lissy, a star and a dreamer realized, takes us with her through the 70s which has its own set of limitations for young women in a “man’s world.”

Two strong women with a societal stronghold to adhere to or push through and a connection that goes beyond what seems black and white.

I saw someone else mention that this book kind of gives “Evelyn Hugo vibes” and I don’t disagree. The secrets, the build up, with a very unexpected twist towards the end that had my jaw DROPPED.
I really enjoyed the characters and the different timeframes, 1940’s/50’s - 70’s. Bouncing between pov’s with Aster & Lissy. I figured I would enjoy this story, but I didn’t expect to be so sucked into it. I would definitely recommend this read!

I've been wanting to read this book for a long while. The synopsis had me intrigued, but the Old Hollywood vibes that I felt from the first page kept me hooked. I love reading books set in this time, so this was a fun reading experience. The fact that it explored the world of fashion was also really interesting, as I've only ever read Old Hollywood-set novels centered around the movie industry. Getting to view the fashion industry from that time period was a nice change and very well done.

The plot itself was great, although I was more interested in Aster's life than Lissy's. That's not to say that Lissy's POV wasn't good or interesting- I just found the things that happened to Aster to be far more interesting. Still, both Aster and Lissy were excellent main characters. Reading about their motivations and passions that fueled the big split-second decisions they faced respectively made me connect with both women, making me root for them. But I also thought the fallout from their choices was realistic and well executed.

I also loved the last twist that happened near the end of the book with some supporting characters. I won't get into it to prevent spoilers, but it threw me for a loop and I loved that it did exactly that. Also, those supporting characters were incredibly sympathetic and I couldn't help but root for them.

My only wish was that this book was more detailed in certain parts. I would've loved to have learned more about Aster and Lissy's lives, as well as see some conversations play out instead of reading about them taking place after the fact. That- along with preferring Aster's POV more than Lissy's- is why I rated it 4 stars. But I still recommend it as a strong historical fiction novel!

This is a dual timeline story that takes us from the 1940’s to the 1970’s. The setting begins in Hollywood when Aster Kelly arrives in town wanting to become a fashion designer. Having wom a fashion design contest, she is seeking an apprenticeship and seeks out Fernando Tivoli who is now trying to become the head designer at Galaxy Studios. With her looks and the fact that she could be a twin for Lauren Bacall, she becomes a stand-up model for the star with a promise from Fernando that he will help her become a fashion designer. But Hollywood is a town that is lost in its own reality. Nothing seems quite as it actually is. Lies become truths, stars aren’t what they seem and studios cover up whatever is necessary to keep their stars on top of the A-list and money is “king.”It’s the 1940’s with strict rules to follow lest these actors make a wrong move in their personal life, they fall from grace
.
In the 1970’s we flash forward to Lissy Horowitz who is trying to become a Broadway star. Lissy is Aster’s daughter, but doesn’t really know anything about her father except that he was a film star and after his death Aster moved to Martha’s Vineyard. Looking for normalcy in her life after living in the fantasy world of Hollywood, Aster’s secrets rise to the surface, crashing all around Lissy.

From the very beginning this story captured me. It was well written; it flowed well. Stepping back in time it was interesting to read the goings-on of what was at one time so glamorous. It was just as interesting to read about Lissy and what it takes to become a Broadway actor. A heartbreaking story with quite a plot.

I fell in love with the golden age of Hollywood listening to this book, the story of Aster is one that we can all relate to on one level or another and her story had me wishing for happily ever after one moment and crying over the loss the next.

With the complexities of her life, Bennie, Fernando, and Lissa, the family they had formed, knew it couldn't last, every moment was precious and to be cherished.

Through the years that saw Aster raising Lissa into a headstrong Broadway (maybe) bound starlet, there were so many secrets and so many things that could have shattered everything.

Lissa's story mimics her mothers in so many ways and I could see so many parallels in their lives so many things the same and so many differences.

Since I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook I have to take a moment to talk about the narrator Emily Beresford. I found her to be enjoyable, bringing depth and character to our characters, while I did find the cadence to be a little on the slow side I still had a thoroughly enjoyable experience listening to this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing a copy of this audiobook, I have voluntarily listened to and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Four stars.
I Iove a book set in a historical time period. This one jumped between the viewpoints of Aster and her daughter Lissy maybe 30 years later. I really enjoyed how this book took us back into the golden age of Hollywood (and showed us that it probably wasn’t that much different to how it is now). Aster was an intriguing and interesting character. I really enjoyed following along with her journey. When the story broke and went to Lissy, I expected to like it less. However I was pleasantly surprised and was pulled directly into the events of her life. This book was part a story of self love and part a story of finding true love (or finding it again). What I loved best though, was that this was above all a love story to friendship, and it was this aspect of it that touched me the most.

Perfect for fans of the The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones and the Six, The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly is a highly readable historical fiction novel that grapples with the price of success, the value of found family and the conflict that so often ensues out of the public eye when the two collide. A dual narrative, with one half focusing on the glamorous Aster Kelly in 1940s and her dreams of becoming a fashion designer as the world tries to pin her into the role of model and muse, and the other half focusing on her daughter Lissy in 1970s New York as she tries to make a name for herself on the Broadway stage. If you’re looking for an engrossing, intelligent read to keep you entertained this summer that’s still light enough to read on the beach, this book is for you.

From the outside looking in, the Golden Age of Hollywood seems so glamorous! The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly provides readers with a glimpse of what was really happening behind the scenes (no pun intended).

Told from the perspective of mother/daughter protagonists in dual time periods on opposite coasts, this one kept me turning the page late into the night.

Based on the cover and storyline, I didn’t expect to be so absorbed - but I highly recommend this read!

Thank you to @The Book Club Cookbook #GalleyMatch for the comp copy and encouraging me to read something I would have otherwise passed by!

Smart clever story

Fun story, quick read; engaging storyline. I have read so many books that jump back and forth through different timelines that it is almost a standard in these summer beach reads, as I care insider them. This had a litt?e more meat on the bone though and a fun happy quirk in the wrap-up. I enjoyed this book alot. MS Sherbrooke has a interesting way of telling a story, and does not leave a bunch of loose ends u tied. I see that she has a few other books available; I will be. Looking for them and be hoping that they are even half as good. Well done Madam!!

What an unexpected book. While enjoying a glimpse of Hollywood life in the 40’s and auditioning for Broadway in the 70’s, the author takes you on an emotional journey of what someone will do to protect the people they love. When I read a novel, I like to think I am so clever that I can always see where a story is leading me, but in The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly, Katherine Sherbrooke has written a book that threw me quite a few curves. What an interesting life Aster Kelly lead, both publicly and privately. If Aster exists in real life, I would really like to be her friend.

Thank you NetGalley for this audiobook.

This is not the type of book I’m typically interested in reading but I took a chance on the basis of Taylor Jenkins Reid suggesting it on Instagram. And I truly am glad I listened to that suggestion. The Secret Life of Aster Kelly took me by surprise in so many ways. Heartwarming, creative, original, and overall entertaining, I would recommend this book wholeheartedly. This wonderful story dives into the choices we make in love, in parenting, and in becoming/showing the world who we truly are.

Thank you Dreamscape Media/Netgalley for the ALC and MB Communications & Pegasus Books #partner, for the finished copy of The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly in exchange for my honest review.

When this was sent to me, I was immediately drawn to the cover. It is just so beautiful and I knew it would be something I had to read and I’m so glad I did…I really enjoyed this one!

This book brings to life the old Hollywood glamour and glitz along with Broadway fashion and fame. Told using a dual narrative, I found myself equally drawn to both timelines, which isn’t always the case when it comes to dual times lines. A lot of times, I’m drawn more to one than the other, but here I was equally invested in both Aster and Lissy’s stories. I loved seeing how their lives played out, knowing that secrets were involved that impacted both their lives.

I think the reason I am drawn to these types of stories every once in a while, is because there is no way I could live this type of life. But it’s so fascinating getting a glimpse into the life of someone who does. This one gives us that and so much more. I was captivated from start to finish. The very real scenarios that play out and the daunting quick decisions that need to be made that have lasting repercussions for all involved. This one had some surprising twists that kept me on my toes, but even more than that, it was the heart that was woven into these characters.

I really enjoyed this one and would recommend it to anyone who loved The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo or enjoys stories about old Hollywood.

Audio thoughts: I alternated between the print and audio on this one. I thought the narrator, Emily Beresford, did a great job bringing the story to life and I found myself listening/or reading whenever I had the chance because I was so engaged in the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an audio arc in exchange for an honest review.

In the Golden Age of Hollywood Aster Kelly has crossed the country with hopes of becoming a fashion designer. On her last interview she meets with Fernando Tivoli a designer solidifying a contract to dress Hollywood's biggest stars (Bogie, Bacall and Hayworth) but he casts Aster as a body double for Bacall instead of a designer. When he lands the studio contract Aster not only seals a deal with Fernando to become his protégé she captures the eye of the studio head. Aster and Fernando become fast friends as their romantic relationships begin to unravel Aster makes a decision that will change their lives forever. Fast forward 25 years and Aster's daughter Lissy is the hit of Broadway and unaware of her mother's Hollywood history as the monumental secrets emerge Lissy will never look at her mother the same way.

For starters, I am a massive fan of 1940s Hollywood and the stars of the era so I was very excited to pick up a new work set in that era. That sadly was where my excitement ended, this is a very clichéd and boring look at the history of the studio system; with flat unoriginal characters. The twists and action were not surprising with the plot moving very slowly. The author is trying to shove today narrative into the history of the past trope with generic pandering results. This whole story is a massive pass for me. I had the audio version read by Emily Beresford who was painful to listen to. I was not a fan of any part of this which was very disappointing.

This stunning book! In 2021, Katherine Sherbrooke published Leaving Coy’s Hill, one of my favorite hist fic titles that year. The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly is her newest, available today! My package came with a glamorous bauble attached!

About the book: “When a runway model in 1940s Hollywood makes a split-second decision intended to protect those she loves, she triggers a cascade of secrets that threatens to upend her daughter’s life decades later.”

Aster leaves her modeling job to head to California pursuing her dream of fashion design. Once there to apprentice with Fernando Tivoli, she finds the position really isn’t open. She’s back to modeling, at least for now, with the promise of a mentorship in fashion to come. Things heat up in Fernando and Aster’s lives, both personally and professionally, and then one decision changes everything.

Decades later, Aster’s daughter, Lissy, is on the cusp of Broadway stardom when secrets of her mother’s past come back to haunt them.

I love a glitzy, glamorous Hollywood backdrop, and here it especially shines. As ever, Sherbrooke’s storytelling is highly readable. With down-to-earth messaging, and an entertaining, compelling, page-turner of a story, The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly is must read for hist fic lovers.

I received a gifted copy.

This is a Historical Fiction book which was inspired by a real-life mystery in the authors family.
Its 1948 and model Aster Kelly enters the Fashion Guild Contest under the name of AJ Kelly so no one would know she was a woman. After she won the prestigious fashion design contest Aster flees the world of modeling in New York and arrives in Beverly Hills to claim her prize and her last chance to break into the world of design with Fernando Tivoli as his apprentice. She entered the contest after eight failed attempts with designers. Even though Fernando had no such job available, he knows she’s the missing ingredient he needs to help secure a contract with Galaxy Studios to outfit important actors and asks her to be his stand-in model for Lauren. Aster ends up making a decision which will change their lives.

1975, New York City, despite knowing little of her mother’s time in Hollywood, Aster’s daughter Lissy is poised to become a Broadway star. When the musical gets off to a rocky start, Lissy is asked to make a decision in attempt to save the show. When long-buried secrets blindside them both, mother and daughter are forced to question everything they thought they knew, to learn about courage, relationships and forgiveness.

This is a great historical fiction book that has 1950s Hollywood, 1970s Broadway, family drama, secrets, and romance.

I love the way this book makes me feel like I’m an insider into the Golden Age of Hollywood as well as being part of the process of creating a Broadway musical.

Aster Kelly has won a prestigious design award. She goes to LA in the hope of becoming an apprentice but ends up modeling dresses that Lauren Bacall will be wearing.

Aster becomes entangled with a Hollywood executive which leads to a beautiful daughter, Lissy, and 25 years of secrets.

Lissy is now ready for her Broadway debut as the lead, but a decision that she makes can bring her mom’s secrets back to the surface.

The three stars for the first third of the book after that falls flat.
Hollywood in the 1950s and New York City theatrical world in the 1970s was factually interesting after that, the writing became surface and sophmoric.
Aster a budding dress designer, becomes pregnant with abortion not an option, and to help a friend hide his homosexuality, marries him. The friend is the rock Hudson of his time.
Years later, her daughter wants to break into the theater, uses his name as clout to get a part.
And opens the proverbial Pandora’s box. But not to worry the author ties everything up in nice little bows, and everyone is happy and in love. Lame 😒

I'd give this book 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. The narrator of this audio version was not spectacular, but I did keep listening. Her name is Emily Beresford. I think I might avoid her reading in the future, just not a fan of her voice or inflection.

The book did make me think of the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo...which I loved as an audio book. Evelyn and Astor would have been contemporaries. This one wasn't quite as good.

I like reading about, and knowing how people have always been people. They engaged in good and bad choices in the 1940's, 50's and onward and backward for time immemorial. I feel a connection to people of the past when I realize this.

I thought this was a fun, summer read. I enjoyed the story, and to be honest, the twist at the end did surprise me. - which doesn’t happen very often!

I thought the characters were sweet, and the plot moved quickly enough. However, I thought the narration was terrible. The voice actor took herself way, too seriously, and unfortunately, that led to the audiobook sounding like a melodramatic soap opera. It was very amateurish.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape for the ALC in exchange for my honest opinions.

This has become one of my favorite books. It felt so real while reading it - like I was learning about a family member and experiencing their life while reading their history. I flew through the pages until I had about 50 pages left and then I read so slowly because I didn’t want it to end. Great examples of how we feel and show love in many forms and ways, the power of honesty and the necessity of carrying some secrets. This was a true work of art by Katherine Sherbrooke - just like her characters.

Aster Kelly moved to Hollywood with big dreams. She quickly realizes Tinsel Town harbors many secrets and can break people who go against the mold.
I love the 1950s era and all the fashion discussion. The choices the characters made were in keeping with the times.
The 1970s parts I found less interesting and I couldn’t relate to Lissy.
It’s a good novel loosely based on events from the author’s family history.
Thanks to Pegasus Books and Edelweiss for the digital copy.

I absolutely devoured this book. "The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly" by Katherine A. Sherbrooke is an extraordinary read that takes readers on a wild journey through time. Set against the mesmerizing backdrops of 1940s Hollywood and 1970s Broadway, Sherbrooke weaves a tale of forbidden love, heartbreak, and life-altering secrets that will keep you riveted to the page. The intricacies of the fashion and entertainment worlds spanning from New York to California were beautifully depicted, and the characters, particularly Aster and Lissy, were so wonderfully crafted that I couldn't help but be deeply invested in their stories. Sherbrooke's writing is captivating, the settings are evocative, and the surprising plot twists kept me eagerly turning the pages. "The Hidden Life of Aster Kelly" is a must-read for anyone seeking a compelling and immersive experience in the realms of love, secrets, and the glamorous world of entertainment.
