First, there was Silly Me. Now, there is Silly Us.
In an exclusive sequel for The Pound Project, illustrator Ruby Elliot (aka Rubyetc) explores relationships – where they start, where they get muddy, where they end up. Partners, pets, people you'll know only for the bus ride into town. Why do we all need each other so much?
Reflections and lessons learned: “Babe in arms, smiling: ‘Mother, where does existential dread come from? Also: wah’”
I missed Silly Me the first time around as I wasn’t aware of the Pound Project, but so glad that I got to pick up both books in a box set - we all need a bit of silly to keep the serious in perspective… also, I feel that I have resembled all the characters on the front of this book!
i prefer the scratchy art and the one-off panels of the first.. not that ruby couldn't make a wonderful longer comic, these are still really good, but I think they're in the wrong place
The Pound Project are an independent publisher who focus on the writers and crowdfund for their limited releases, which tend to cost as little as £5. When they announced a follow up to Silly Me, Tania was straight on it!
Once again, it is really funny. It taps into the psyche of us all. Those day to day insecurities and panics that we all have. The little joys that can brighten our moods. I would recommend this to everyone and for the bargain price of £1 for an online edition and £5 for the print copy, you don't have to break the bank to own it and support the creative process. 4 stars.
