Once every millennium, the gods assemble to decide if humanity is worthy of its continued existence or if it should be destroyed! When the verdict is destruction, the final battle between the gods and mortal heroes will decide the survival or extinction of the human race—a battle known as Ragnarok!
The dark and foggy alleys of London have become the arena for the next round of Ragnarok as the personification of human malice, the notorious Jack the Ripper, faces off with Heracles, the champion of the gods. But Heracles was once a mortal–how was he elevated to godhood, and why does he now fight for the gods against humanity? No one can guess what the outcome of this match will be, and some are even questioning who they’re rooting for to win. With the survival of humanity at stake, will Brunhilde’s decision to send in Jack the Ripper backfire?
It starts off with the origin of Heracles and its really well done, one of the best retellings and his path for justice and then we have the backstory for Jack the ripper and that was crazy and makes sense how he became that way. If one was Justice Incarnate the other was opposite of it. Madness and Psychopath-y personified. And their battle is epic and I like the new power they gave Heracles here and also Jack in that last blow. The ending wow.
This manga is just getting better and better with every fights, each participant their own origin, the attacks unique and the battles even better and different than the last time plus the art is also getting better especially the scenes with JACK. One of the best illustrated mangas easily.
Pretty good overall. In this volume, the origin stories of Heracles and Jack are revealed. The author made some changes to Heracles's story and I actually enjoyed this interpretation. As the God of Fortitude, Heracles is probably the only god (so far) that we can cheer for. On the other hand, Jack's story was more of a psychological one. Apart from these, the fight scenes are interesting as well. I'm quite interested to see what happens with this one. I also don't know which one I'm supporting (closer to Jack I guess).
Chapter 23: We humans are weak creatures. That's why we try to be righteous. But sometimes we turn out evil. We grow as we stumble through life. That's what we are. We all have righteousness within us, burried under our weakness. We're weak, but we serve the gods. We desperately offer up our prayers to you. But you crush us without even batting an eye. What kind of justice is that?! That's why I will lay down my life to defy such gods!
Chapter 23: At that moment, the age of myth, of gods and humans interacting came to an end. For the next 4000 years the gods did not invade. Alicides was elevated to become a child of zeus. He was named after Zeus's wife Hera. And so, he became Heracles.
Chapter 24: The labor we delight in physics pain.
Chapter 24:
Chapter 24: Sir, are you carrying an umbrella? Here in London, it rains a great deal, so do take care.
Chapter 24: Excellent!
Chapter 24: This is my first time with a god.
Chapter 25: I wonder what color you will glow when you die?
Chapter 25: London bridge is broken down... broken down... broken down... My fair lady.
Chapter 25: Jack, you are my only hope!
Chapter 25: Mum... She's so beautiful! You're the most beautiful lady in London. No, in the whole word!
Chapter 25: More than anything else, the boy loved seeing the colors of his mother's emotions.
Chapter 25: I can free you from that awful color.
Chapter 25: Seeing his mother stained by a color he'd never seen before, the boy thought: "What a beautiful color!"
Chapter 25:
Chapter 25: The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves!
Chapter 25: The boy killed the man he presumed was his father. Then he walked into the busy streets of London and disappeared. Just as the industrial revelotion was lighting up that city of three million, the world's largest city at the end of the 19th century. It was also giving birth to the foulest darkness in human history.
Chapter 25:
Chapter 25: Indeed, you've told me. Many times. So, how does that feel? My fair lady.
Heracles vs. Jack the Ripper. Inventive. Creative backstories were developed and then incorporated into the battle scenes in ways that made the various attacks and defenses utilized more contextually appropriate and believable.
I'm liking this series. Unfortunately, Naperville Public Library only has volumes 1-6 in inventory, with the next two or three volumes only just recently translated into English (like 2023), and the final three only currently available in Japanese, Indonesian, and I believe Spanish and French. English is pretty far down the list, interestingly.
If you like fantasy, graphic novels, manga, Greek mythology, or real historical figures, this series could be for you. I would say it's easier to follow than some of the more well known series, like "Soul Eater," and "Fairy Tail." If you're just trying to ease into a graphic novel series, you can't go wrong with the six volume "Scott Pilgrim" series. (I'm also reading "SP" currently. I know....I read a lot of things at once, but somehow keep them all straight. I saw a sticker recently that said something like: "My mind is like the kitchen junk drawer dumped out onto a trampoline." Accurate.)
Heracles atau Jack the Ripper???
Heracles life from Human to God have been described. Also his 12 Labour's power is unleashed on Jack but nothing unfazes him. He has not got a pint of sweat and is attacking Heracles. Heracles is on defensive and is injured. Jack's story of how he became the villain is also portrayed which is very sad. He was a small kid who loved his mom very much. He used to get beaten up when he used to pick any leftovers from the bin outside of shops. He liked to read William Shakespeare. He didn't care if they no money and if not all was good in their life. All mattered was his mother. But when that illusion disappears then he lost himself and killed his mother who was a prostitute. She gave birth to him in the hopes of getting married to his father. It is very heart wrenching 💔. It explains that evil 😈 is lurking inside everyone and gets unleashed if the person loses the thing that matters the most. At the end Jack is able to cut one hand of Heracles. Let's see how the fight ends in the next book.

I did not enjoy this volume that much. It continued the 4th fight. Jack’s backstory was really forced and there was no explanation why the non scalpel attacks could cut Heracles now as well as Jack being able to take a hit from a god. The fighting ‘powers’ and ability of Jack was even more unrealistic than the prior ones, to the extent that the God vs Human premise became meaningless. I hope this is wrapped up quickly and the next fight better.
This volume is devoted to ennobling Heracles and giving the basis for the grime of Jack the Ripper. poignant, but of course if you miss the fact that the God Heracles is attempting to destroy the human race, he supposedly ennobles, well then context is King! Life is pain for both God and Man in this contest, but only one has their head on the chopping block.
Its been forever since July 2021, indonesian publisher finally published the 6th volume. Great action and panel as usual. I really surprised for the history behind hearcles and jack the ripper.
