After missing out on love because she was too shy to confess her feelings, high school student Satomi blurts out how she feels the next time she gets a crush—and it’s to her impossibly handsome schoolmate Yagyu! To her surprise, he agrees to date her. Now that Satomi’s suddenly in a relationship, what next?
Even after they start their second year in high school together, Satomi and Yagyu’s feelings for each other only grow. But in their new class, Miria—the girl every boy supposedly falls in love with—asks Satomi to introduce her to Yagyu?!
Ahhh be still my heart! They are absolutely adorable. I love how the always support and reassure each other in healthy ways. It’s clear that they have great chemistry and really enjoy each other’s company. Even with the introduction of a new character that appears to challenge them (at first), the two stay loyal and dedicated to each other.
Now I totally confess that I was SUPER worried it might not be because the blurb I felt was implying that a GIRL was going to try and interfere between our couple and just no no no! I do NOT want that!
Thankfully things with this new girl were quickly resolved and left the rest of this volume angst free! I won't say anymore because it did go in a different direction than I anticipated, but don't worry! It was actually a nice change of pace and very curious as to how these new events will affect the next volume.
As always, Satomi and Yagyu continue to only have eyes for each other, and actually really liked how this volume showed how far Satomi has come in continuing to speak up and kindly speak her mind. I feel she's always been pretty bold, but I feel we see a more mature boldness in her that was really rewarding when it came to the whole situation with this other girl.
I REALLY loved the ending of this one! It was unexpectedly moving and then turned into surprising, so of course I'm already desperately wanting the next volume! LOL!
These two still continue to be one of my favorite shoujo couples in ongoing series and can't wait to see more of them again with the next release! While reading this volume I felt my heart skip a beat time or two and all the happy butterflies in my stomach because their love story continues to be extremely sweet and know the next volume will continue to be just that: Super sweet!
FINALLY, FINALLY one of my libraries added the rest of the series to their catalogue and I can continue reading! This time a new character, a new ship to root for, new romance bits, sports day with cute moments (her cheering for him alone was so sweet), and I just love these two together. But I also liked seeing the three girls together and have a fun day. I am SO hyped to read on~ Oh, and glad that the senpai understood, and that the best friend was a bit more chill.
Ima Koi is the series for you if you want cute wholesome-ness to distract your brain from the real-life horrors of human existence (yes, I have been struggling today lol)✌️💖 Vicariously getting my happiness / serotonin dose from a cute shojo manga couple 🥹
Again, this is my first manga series. I would say this was about a 3.5 for me, just like the rest.
Just like the rest of the series, this book is gorgeous! This time it is nice to see a bit of Satomi's jealousy and nervousness. She loves Yagyu just as much as he loves her and their actions and inner thoughts show that beautifully.
I like that in this book we have another competition/festival. This time it is a sports festival so we see different sides of all of the characters as they are required to sign up for different things. The work they put in to win as well as impress each other (or get noticed by certain people) is really impressive.
Here we also get to see Yagyu and Satomi's first anniversary. To be perfectly honest, I hope more people read this book and see how simple yet beautiful a date/celebration can be. They both put their heart and soul into making it a great time for each other and it is so freaking adorable. And of course we are left on a cliffhanger so off to read book 6!
The character growth in this volume was amazing. They are both becoming so open with each other and keep doing more and more that they never thought they could and I love it. And the ending? Ahhhhhhhh I love them. 😍

Satomi and Yagyu are officially in the same class together for their second year of high school. Happily together, a hurdle threatens their relationship in the form of, a new character, a girl who all the boys fall head over heels for: Miria. Miria asks to become friends with Satomi so she can get to know Yagyu more. Should Satomi be worried about how close Miria is getting to Yagyu?...
The situation with Miria is a misunderstanding when Satomi learns she likes Yagyu's best friend Namo. I liked Miria's character and how her interactions with Namo feel realistic. I'm happy this was a misunderstanding and not a rival situation between the two girls.
The school sports festival event was fun to read about. Satomi and Miria volunteered to be cheerleaders for their class and they both wanted to cheer for Yagyu and Namo.
It's also Satomi and Yagyu's first anniversary and it's super sweet. I liked their date and the present Satomi gives Yagyu. We are left with Satomi’s mother not-really-asking-but-telling Yagyu to come inside the house so they could chat.
I liked the volume and their relationship is super sweet and filled with cute moments. I'm absolutely looking forward to reading the next volume!
Ahhhhh I love how cute and sweet these two are together. One year together, and they still treat each other with such kindness and love. I also really appreciate that they only have eyes for one another, and while they experience jealousy, they don’t let it overwhelm them or let it treat one another poorly.
I’ll admit that I was super worried when Miria showed up and was hanging all over Yagyu - were they setting us up for some sort of love triangle again, where Satomi is going to end up walked all over? I was so proud of her for standing up to Miria and confronting her when she was concerned, and then for accepting Miria’s confession and agreeing to give her a second chance at friendship. They’ve turned into good friends, it seems, and Miria needs some girls in her corner, with everyone assuming she’s a man-killer. Her crush on Noda is adorable, and I’m hoping those two continue to connect.
I’m also glad they’re letting Taksukawa’s crush on Satomi fade away without him pushing anything on her. He seems to have recognized that Satomi isn’t available to win through athletic feats or otherwise - she’s with Yagyu, win or lose. Satomi’s consolation prizes for Yagyu were pretty cute, too, and it was adorable to see how happy and motivated he was by her cheers (and her outfit, haha).
Their anniversary date was so sweet and totally “them” - hanging out together, doing things for one another, and just enjoying their time. Satomi’s scrapbook and letter for Yagyu was so thoughtful, and you could tell he loved it, not just because he rushed right over so he could hug her and thank her for it. Now I can’t wait to see him meet her mom! I’m sort of surprised he hasn’t already, since they’ve been dating for a year!

It's the start of 2nd year and we have a new girl Mirua (new to the story at least) she was in another class 1st year and now she's in the same class as Satomi, Yagyu and Noda.
Apparently Miria is the girl all the boys fall for. And it seems like she's got her eye on Yagyu! She wants Satomi to introduce them. So Satomi, Miria, Noda and Yagyu hang out after school and Miria is all over Yagyu, staring into his eyes the whole nine yards. Now I'm not gonna lie, I honestly thought Satomi wasn't going to do anything about Miria pushing up on Yagyu. But she does pull her aside the next day and let her know that she and Yagyu are a couple. Miria then let's her know that it's actually Noda she is interested in. And she's trying the "get close to his bestie and have the bestie put in a good word for her" approach. I'm soooo glad that the trope of new girl show up and tries to steal away MCs guy didn't happen. Along with Satomi just letting it happen.
Then we have the sports fest which was exciting. Next is Satomi's and Yagyu's 1 year anniversary. Which they chose to celebrate but just havi g a regular date instead of anything fancy. Which honestly was really cute and practical.
Mizusawa (Satomi) and Yagyu are in the same class together for the new year, though Nimo is in a different class. A new friend, Miria, is in class as well, who seems to have all the boys swooning over her. This could be a concern when she seems to get extra friendly with Yagyu. Luckily, it's just a misunderstanding and she's actually trying to get close to his best friend Noda. With that fear off her chest, Miria and Satomi quickly become good friends and Satomi promises to help her. The girls end up in cheer squad as the "easy" option given their lack of athletic abilities when sports day comes around, though Satomi gains some unexpected help from Tatsukawa on the dance moves. The boys do well overall even though Noda doesn't seem to be much help at least in the log toppling. He's surprising fast in the relay though, surprising pretty much everyone except for Yagyu. Satomi manages to sneak a special surprise in on their first anniversary, leading to Yagyu showing up at her house rather unexpectedly. Sometimes he really is very sweet. Doubt he was expecting to meet his girlfriend's mom when biked over like a mad man, but she seems to have her sights on him now.

This volume was brilliant that Satomi and Yagyu were in the same class, and Miria was hilarious with how she got close to her crush. Satomi and Miria were brilliant together and the beginning of their friendship was brilliant and fun. The miscommunication and drama Miria incited was hilarious and brilliant. The sports festival was so fun and the way Satomi and Yagyu are was so cute, how they only have eyes for each other and how Tatsukawa always gets a little in the way. Tenma and Miria were hilarious and cute, the way she made Tenma actually try hard for something was brilliant and cute. It will be interesting to see what happens with them in the future. The seating arrangement was the best and the 1st anniversary date was brilliant and so cute. The ending was so lovely and the present was so cute, however I wonder what problems Satomi's mom will cause. This volume was brilliant and enjoyable, so worth the read.
I had the biggest smile on my face reading this. They’re so cute and keeps getting cuter, it’s so sickly sweet and I love it ! I felt nothing for them at vol 1 but now I love these two so much. It’s heart melting sort of SWEET and if you’re weak hearted to that, be warned they’ll ruthlessly make your heart swell with joyful fuzzy feelings. It’s overwhelming I can’t stop smiling. This one gives you that “wanna throw it across the room” sort of happy giddy joy and did I mention it’s so sweet! I had my doubts at the start but it felt like it got better from vol 3 and I’m looking forward to the next release
More of a 3.5 star rating; I really liked that the popular girl: Miria, didn’t end up being a love rival for Yagyu and ended up being a genuine friend for Satomi. I find it funny how Miria acts around the other boys compared to how she acts around her crush, and hope she learns to relax a little. It was adorable seeing Satomi and Yagyu celebrate their 1-year anniversary and the gift that Satomi got him. I’m curious and a bit amused going into this next volume since Yagyu will finally meet Satomi’s mom.
Aww! That ending is the sweetest and cutest yet. I think I'm getting over the lack of character development for them as individuals. I feel bad for Nimo, but Satomi seems to have a better flow and an innate friend in Miria, and having this "new" foursome in the same class helps us see our couple a bit more outside of themselves. I was worried that we'd get sucked into a secondary romance with the OGs still underdeveloped, but it strangely helps fill in the blanks. This is a series I'll probably try to reread later.
Of course as soon as I consider putting this series down and not continuing past what I already own this volume throws me for a loop. We finally got more of Noda and a new character that I’ve fallen in love with. Then at the end mom finally gets to meet Yagyu but it ends with a cliffhanger of her asking him into the house?! Idk if I’ll consider buying the next volume but I’ll probably check for online updates.

This still remains one of my favorites. Yagyu and Satomi are so sweet they make my heart ache in the best way. This series speaks to the younger, misunderstood me who was never as brave or as kind as Satomi. Yagyu is definitely the "cool," and "aloof," high school heartthrob but Satomi is the genuinely loveable character. The way that Yagyu never fails to see that or see her makes my heart all gooey.
