Having just recently watched the episode versions of this arc I couldn’t help comparing the feel between the anime and the manga and while I think most of the time the animation outclassed the drawn artwork for this volume in the most part, getting into that old man arc at JAA was just that much more bad*ss and intense shaded on the page almost like he’d cut right the the page and me along with it, but the overall few chapters felt like they flew by a bit too quickly and the end plane section was fun but not the best cliffhanger spot, I’m interested in seeing where the next volume picks up after this especially since I’ll finally be hitting on some new content. 3.5/5

Ugh. Last volume's cliffhanger was a tease quickly put on hold and set aside as we instead are given a "back to school" story arc with Sakamoto and Shin taking the deadly entrance exam for an assassination classroom. It's really silly, but then, silly is when this series is at its best.

A set up volume done right, it progresses the plot whilst keeping things interesting and engaging throughout. Going in a very promising direction, the series continues to impress.

Good stuff. Ends the last arc in a satisfying way while starting a new one. This time we have basically exams for new assassins and it makes for a really entertaining and funny arc. I loved the new girl Akira and hope we get more of her in the future.

“When we waste time, we waste our lives.”

This volume starts off with an intense confrontation that quickly spirals into chaos—but not for the reasons you’d expect. What should’ve been a calculated attack ends up unraveling when certain heavy-hitters get involved, and the result is pure carnage. Even without knowing all the details, it’s clear there are deeper connections at play, and the tension between characters—old allies, rivals, and everyone in between—hits a new high. The power dynamics shift dramatically, and it’s fascinating to see how each person responds when things don’t go as planned.

After the dust settles, the story shifts into a completely new arc with a big change in setting and tone. There’s a fresh mission that introduces a handful of new characters, each with their own quirks and secrets. The pacing is fast, the action is stylish, and the humor lands in all the right places. Even with all the chaos, the core relationships continue to shine—especially the evolving bond between Sakamoto and Shin. And one particular new character brings a quiet charm and unexpected skill set that immediately raises intrigue. I’m already looking forward to seeing where their story goes.

What makes Volume 7 stand out is how well it balances humor, suspense, and character moments without losing the sharp energy the series is known for. It’s wild, fast, and sometimes downright ridiculous—but always smart and full of heart. With each volume, Sakamoto Days keeps raising the bar, and this one proves it’s still in top form.

Another amazing volume from one of my favorite series! The highlight of this volume is of course Kanaguri who is one of the most entertaining side characters ever. I would go watch his movies.

Not bad, but kind of below the average for this Manga.
I mean there are lots of fighting school Manga out there and so far nothing groundbreaking or new for the idea.

Honestly I’m on the fence how I feel about the direction this comic is going! I loved watching Sakomoto with his family, friends and his little slice of life lifestyle, it was cute and fun! Now the book is much more dark and violent, so I’m just trying to get used to that switch. I would have loved to see how fans of this reacted as this series evolved, as I wonder if other people felt the same way. I still really like it, the action is incredible, the characters and world building is great, but just a little jarred by the change in the story!

Honestly I should have been able to tell though by the crazy change in cover design and look! Some times you can judge a book by its cover!

Sakamoto vs. X in the middle of a massacre at the JAA.

But it's too soon for this story to have it's final climactic battle so standby for an interruption to delay the final showdown in favor of more Sakamoto shenanigans... like joining assassin school. So look forward to new children for Sakamoto to adopt.

Who is in this volume? People.
What do they do? Fight.
Yep, bog standard Sakamoto Days!

Anyway, this volume has the iconic/meme'd panel of the old guy opening the door, so that was fun to finally see in context. I'm uncertain if Slur is supposed to be the main antagonist overall, or just a big one in general, as the manga moves into a new arc after the first skirmish against Slur is interrupted. And it's a fucking exam arc, which I really was not expecting. I do love Hunter x Hunter, but Jesus fuckin' Christ, man...! Fingers crossed for a tournament arc in the future.

Mildly glad Akira turned out to be an actual girl. I'd heard stuff about Lu kind of just dropping out of the manga in the future and seemingly being forgotten, so it's cool that the series isn't gonna be a total sausage fest. Well, it's possible Akira might not be in the manga forever; I didn't want to read any spoilers just in case. 🤷

This series continues to be so much fun!!
I had to borrow the next volume from the library right after the last and read it faster than I thought that I forgot to list it 🤣

We're introduced to some new characters and they are so mysterious and intriguing since we find out more on X, his history with Sakamoto is briefy hinted at before they run off thanks to old Takamura.
I need to know more about that dude in general! His character is definitely mysterious and I see he keeps his eyes closed but has amazing accuracy with the sword.

I do love the comedy aspect too since it gives the whole series a great segue way into another part of the arc and in this volume it's with Sakamoto and Shin having to enroll into the JCC to get some details on X but it's not like they can just walk in, so they enroll and unexpectedly in a comedic and action filled way that only these two can do find themselves in trouble again while we get more new faces thrown in 😂

Tome incroyable.

Sakamoto and co. are at the ambush at the JAA building and they come face to face with the assassin named X who has ties to his past and might even put his family in harm’s way. To learn more X, Sakamoto and Shin make the decision to pose as participants of the JAA’s assassin transfer exam and their flight there will be one hell of a test with the help of an apprehensive participant. A (100%/Outstanding)

I can't wait for MHA to end so that I can say Sakamoto Days is the best series in Jump. I come back to this series every week with higher and higher expectations, and it still manages to top them every week. 10/10 cast, art, story, and on top of that, it's still in it's early chapters. Most series take years to reach the peaks that this series has reached earlier than 50 chapters. If I could recommend only one series from Weekly Shonen Jump, I would recommend Sakamoto Days.

Continues to be the dark horse shonen goat. The fight on the airplane was great. Very bizarre to see the film 'Funny Games' get namedropped in a manga.
