Sticking their noses where they are most definitely not wanted.
Despairing of their humans, these pets take it upon themselves to solve the cases they see as only cats and dogs can.
Whether they sniff out the clues or fool the criminals into thinking they are harmless pets to be ignored, Rex, Amber, Buster, and more enjoy escapades a plenty in this fun collection of short stories.

Let's start this off with an invitation to get some FREE books. No, you didn't read that wrong, we are talking about multiple free books. I love giving away free books because once people delve into the fast-paced mystery thrills I write, they go on to buy lots more.
When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.
Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.
I remember reading these stories before but I enjoyed reading them again. Steve Higgs has an amazing imagination, he knows how to keep his audience interested and his stories are just the best. I have lost a lot of sleep over his work as I can't put my phone or ipad down when I'm reading ,, my favourites have got to be Albert and Rex ,,not forgetting Buster the devil dog hahaha. Great writing from a great writer. You really should take a look at some of his books. You'll be as gripped as I am with it.. no better way to spend time than with a Steve Higgs story.
Great look into the lives of the fur-heroes! I love how each story gives an in-depth introduction to each pet in the various stories by this author. As a lifelong pet mother it's wonderful to get back stories to give more depth to each one in the various stories. My heart goes out to the author who brings one of his own furbabies to life. It keeps them alive in our hearts and daily lives. Many of us have our own fur-heroes and we love them to bits. I look forward to more adventures like this one.
Growing up , I had a neighborhood full of animal friends. I was known for being able to catch escaped dogs and bring them home. Quite a few were known for traveling with buddies and several of them wanted to capture my cat! She, however, was truly the calm, cool, Queen of the neighborhood and always got the upper hand. She could star in one of your stories! As a ninja cat. Wise in the way of nature and dogs! Lol More, please.
I just enjoy so much reading stories told from the pets' point of view, and for me, the best ones created by Steve Higgs are Rex and Devil Dog, both characters make me laugh so much! So, it's a real pleasure to have their tales put together in one volume. Totally worth reading, it's guaranteed fun and entertainment.I received a free copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion.
Loved this collection of stories! Being a dog owner (2 Boston Terriers) and lover of animals in general, I believe that some animals are really tuned in to their people and surroundings and smart enough to understand what going on around them. My 2 have "summit meetings" on a somewhat regular basis.
This was great fun! Just the right amount of short stories to get to know all the pets from Steve's stories a little better. A great way to introduce some of these characters to the unsuspecting public!
Terrific group of short stories featuring some of Steve Higgs’ best animal characters! So much fun reading these stories. Plenty of laugh out loud dialogue between species. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Read a few of the stories before but still enjoyable a second visit ,fun lighthearted nonsense the pets are heroes unto themselves, great book to keep going back to for a quick read when busy to sit for hours
Pets for the win! I love the animals in Steve Higgs' books. This is a fun collection of their adventures when they are not with their humans. They have so much personality and each are their own animal. Fun read!
I love several of Steve Higgs book series but these stories give the animals the starring role. And do they ever ham it up! If you love pets and humor you will love this book
What a breath of fresh air! I love the Albert & Rex, & Patricia Fisher books, & intend to continue w/ #2 of Felicity's books, but this collection of short stories is a real treat! So refreshing! Thank you Steve!
Cute little collection of short stories from the Pets in all of the author's series.
Some stories were better than others and some of the pets I wasn't familiar with because I haven't read the series but overall it was an easy way to pass a couple of hours.
