Jeet and Fudge: The Loving Library

Rate this book
Jeet and his puppy Fudge love to read books and wish they could make more friends, who also like to read. Inspired by another Sikh boy practicing his seva (his selfless act of kindness) by donating books to people in need, Jeet and Fudge set out with their Mom and Dad to also give back to their community. Could it also bring some reading buddies their way, as well?

Kids and adults alike will delight in this level 2 emerging reader, the second in a series about a young Sikh boy, his “yummy” sidekick puppy, and their adventures in volunteerism and play.

Written in partnership with the North American Sikh Coalition. Part of the proceeds of Jeet and The Loving Library will go to support the nonprofit Anaik’s Loving Library.

This title is leveled using both the Lexile and Fountas & Pinnell reading level standards.

Donation is a good work and one should wear this as a habit to make others' life better. Helping needy always makes your life better and mind relaxed.

Jeet has the habit of reading and he does that with his pet puppy 'Fudge'. He, after reading his books, decided to make others donate too, so that the community can be helped with the source of education.

Message given was good and values must be put like this properly in the mind of children.

Thank you NetGalley and Baker & Taylor, Paw Prints Publishing for accepting my request to read and review Jeet and Fudge: The Loving Library.

Author: Amandeep S. Kochar

Genre: Children's Fiction

They're back, bigger and better than before. As a family, they build a free library. I noticed when Jeet was going door-to-door his dad was there. The library came about from a TV spot after Jeet saw a kid carrying, yes, books. The story is delightful. No arguing, no sarcasm, no ugliness. It may be a stretch for some people; without being preachy, working together is a reasonable goal. Having a friend is a reasonable goal whether pet or human.

The illustrations are similarly lovely and beautiful.

I was so charmed by the story, I was shocked by the ending. Is it okay for kids books to have cliffhangers? I'm throwing the thought out there, while I ponder the solution.

Loved this, and would gift it to everyone. There is a note at the conclusion explaining Jeet's head wrap. I appreciated the presentation.

So freaking cute and such an inspiration! Let’s all vote for free community libraries and let’s build a world of new generation readers. I love the concept and Jeet is such an amazing sweet character. Fudge is just too cute!

Waiting for more from the author.

Thank you, Baker & Taylor, Paw Prints Publishing, for the advance reading copy.

I loved this.

Not only do you get some insight on the Sikh religion and culture, but the story is inspired by this little Sikh boy who actually started a community library.

Love love love that at the end there is a little note from him as well as little summaries on what certain terms mean.

I absolutely adore books like this.

Very competent book that shows the virtues of reading and sharing, and the friendships they can bring – as well as some basic knowledge of Sikhism. There's very little to it – a boy sets up a community book swap shelf in his neighbourhood, having seen a kid share books with hospital patients – but what you can get out of it is only going to be limited by what you put in its way.

I noticed a real lack of early readers with Sikh characters in the classrooms, so I did some googling and we found this series. It’s fantastic and now that Maddie has read them we will be donating them to the school so that her Sikh classmates can see themselves represented in books they can read by themselves.

Simple one-sentence pages describes how a young boy's passion for books leads him (with his father's help) to develop a free lending library, The Loving Library ("give a book, take a book")
