The city of Rendale is ruled by dragons—powerful monsters that control every drop of fame and fortune. They fear nothing, hunting without mercy and taking what they please. And the Ruthless Dragons are the greediest of all.
I grew up believing if I worked hard my dreams would come true. Turns out that's crap. After two years of waiting for my life to begin, I was done sitting on my hands. I'd have a final night of wild fun before packing my bags and saying goodbye to this wretched city.
But no one leaves Rendale once the Ruthless Dragons notice you.
Avrice, Sylt, Mortar and Rask. The four of them masquerade as men to hide their wings and colorful scales, but they can't wait to show me what they really are. Rumors say if they bring you to their den, you'll be changed forever. Warped and twisted by the time you walk out.
What happens if they never let me leave?
(Author's note: Tangle of Dragons is a RH romance. There's some over the top protective/obsessive/violent hero moments, some chase/hide and seek scenes, and general monster fun. I hope you enjoy this full length novel!)
Just living in a world of twisted, dark romance where monsters roam free. Big fan of teeth and morally gray heroes. Fantasy exists for a reason and I don't know how I'd go on without it. Email me, I'm awkward but nice! janedarkspire@gmail.com
Braelyn is a simple human with big dreams of making it big. Though the past few months have been rather trying for her given no one will give her the time of day seeing as she's not a supernatural. To make ends meet, Braelyn works at a local bar/restaurant and inadvertently meets three dragons known around town for their love of the ladies. Then again dragons and humans have a sordid history that makes it hard for any of them to trust the other. This was a decent read for me but damn it was super quick. The attraction is instant even if the love is not. Personally I just didn't get much story around the group and their relationship aside from her singing. Luckily Braelyn loves sex-as these guys are beyond insatiable. Wish there was a little more depth to the story as most of it just felt like surface details.
2.5 rounded up. I had such a hard time rating because I loved parts of it. Reading this felt like there were a chunk of really fleshed out scenes tied together. All the on between parts felt like a rushed afterthought. I think this would have been great if it had been fleshed out more. The writing was compelling and I would absolutely give this author another try.
Tangle of dragons by Jane Darkspire. The city of Rendale is ruled by dragons—powerful monsters that control every drop of fame and fortune. They fear nothing, hunting without mercy and taking what they please. And the Ruthless Dragons are the greediest of all. I grew up believing if I worked hard my dreams would come true. Warped and twisted by the time you walk out. What happens if they never let me leave? Omg. Dirty and dark. I love it. Couldn't put it down. Definitely recommend. 5*.
I really liked Braelyn and 3 of her 4 dragons. This is a fast paced, steamy stand-alone RH, I liked how Braelyn stood up for herself. Sylt is hot! Avarice is great, but Mortar is my dragon :) I liked that they all recognize their brokenness. I didn’t really like Rask - I didn’t really feel like he had the time to make up for his alphahole behavior. I understood why he did, but I felt like he needed so,e groveling or something. I also felt bad for them each time Braelyn’s longevity/lifespan was brought up - it made me feel bad for future them. But overall, I really enjoyed this story and will look for more from this author in the future.
After having my heart and mind opened to the world of reverse harem romance thanks to the Never King, I went hunting for more dark fantasy romances. Was lucky to get an ARC from this author for Sweet Prey (and LOVED it) so when they had a RH fantasy releasing, I snatched that ARC so hard.
Guys, this book is super hot. I always loved dragons and Jane did them justice. This novel has feral/primal hunting of the MC, fangs, acid used in sexy ways, hate-kissing, OTT revenge...
And the group scenes are worth re-reading. Multiple times. >_>
The title is what convinced me to choose to read this one I mean come on it has dragons in it …who wouldn’t want to read about dragons and throw in a few humans who don’t know they exist well now you got yourself a story so I will say get comfortable because this is one you won’t stop until you start and it is a little long so get your wine, coffee, or tea because you are going to need it. The city of Rendale is ruled by dragons some of the most powerful ones that control nearly everything, everybody, monsters who feed without mercy taking who/what they want when they want, and they are nice about it yet with so many want fame /fortune they will always be needed. Braelyn sweet, a singer working in a club, a little naïve grew up thinking that if she gave 100% effort, worked hard at her craft she would be successful but lately nothing has gone her way the recording contract she thought she would have at this point in her life hasn’t happened and after being turned down at her last audition she decided to walk away from it all but on her way out a shifter notices her knowing she needs friend so he listens. So, while she is working at the club Vinn sexy as all get out shifter runs with three other sexy as all get out shifter friends Sylt, Mortar and Rask they befriend her, she just pushed it aside as in the line of work but when the four of them wouldn’t leave her be she listens, or they listen fast becoming friends. Braelyn each one of them have a unique relationship with her and each of the is something special (I mean I wouldn’t or couldn’t choose just one…js 😊would be impossible) but the thing of it is they are part of the ruthless dragons who run Rendale but things aren’t as they seem and someone will make sure to blame humans or make it look like humans are out to get the dragons basically turning dragons and humans against one another but if they want to survive getting to the truth is their only option and the more the four of them work together the stronger the magnetic pull between them grown, yes all five of them but will they get to the truth, are they as ruthless as they are made out to be, will she ever become the singer she wanted if so is it with their help, who is behind all the happening or the lies being told to create issues, and the happiness written for the five of them together?.

I greatly enjoy reverse harem romances and Tangle of Dragons was fantastic. I love darker themes within these stories and heroes who aren’t the ultimate example of Knight in Shining Armor, or in this case, Knight in Golden Scales.
Braelyn has been trying to become a famous singer for two years and now she’s going before the big dog… or big dragon, for her shot at fame, but the day does not go as planned and Braelyn finds herself being passed over by the huge golden dragon who has been pawing at her through her songs, making her hate dragons immediately.
Braelyn is all for giving up and going home after the latest failed attempt to be a singer when she meets a gorgeous man who loves her voice as much as her body and tells her he can get her a singing contract.
I loved reading about Braelyn and her four dragons she meets and begins to get to know, even as Mortar and Rask push her away and try to make her run away from them all. Avrice and Sylt are addicted to Braelyn and put the young woman in sexy positions that leave her panting. There are some seriously sexy scenes in this story and one hell of a final scene.
I’m looking forward to reading more from Jane Darkspire and seeing what she can bring to the world with her sexy, panty melting monsters.

Handsdown, this may be my new standalone favorite! It's got such an amazing dynamic between the characters and the world building. Our FMC Braelyn is a human, working at a club, her dreams are to one day become a singer. She's auditioned but is unfortunately turned down for someone else to take her spot. After going back to work she runs into one of the Ruthless Dragons, Avrice. Braelyn Is reading to go back home but after meeting Avrice he's not willing to let her out of his sight.
Our Dragons- Avrice, Sylt, Mortar and Rask, they make up the Ruthless Dragons that "everyone" knows about. I love how Jane wrote out these characters, especially our MMCs, they're all individuals and their personalities shine. I love all of the fun 🌶 and the action scenes, it's a really great balance for a standalone.
This story didn't disappoint at all, if you're looking for a shifter story that's a standalone you won't be disappointed!
What I loved: Multi POV ✅ Stand-Alone ✅ Dragons ✅ Amazing World Building ✅ Fast Paced / Hooks you In ✅.

Disclaimer I was given an Advance Readers Copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest opinion. This early access does not sway my opinion or review pertaining to the contents of the book or the author's writing.
Tangle of Dragons has to be, hands downs, my favorite read of the year! This twisted dark RH has everything you can imagine; the love tropes/relationships between each male are so diverse it had me hooked! Janes's writing contained slow burn, instant romance, grumpy sunshine, golden retriever vibes, you name it! I was laughing, awwing, and overwhelmed by the spice! Jane Darkspire somehow knows exactly how to keep a reader hooked!
Not only does Tangle of Dragons have romance and good spicy content, but the plot is beyond imaginable. Tangle of Dragons is centered around the main character Braelyn and her aspiring dream; just when she thinks it’s failing, four Dragonborn males uproot her life.
Trust me; you will be on the edge of your seat for this wild ride; I could not put this book down! Which is why I give this five stars.
For years Braelyn has chased her big dream of becoming a professional singer, but when a final audition once again ends in nothing, she decides she is done. Ready to say goodbye and go back home, she's certain one final night of dancing and drinking is exactly what she needs. Until the moment Avrice sets his eyes on Braelyn, and decides he's not willing to let her leave...
"Tangle of Dragons" is one of the best chosen titles for a standalone ever, because these characters often end up in a big tangle of dragons, with one tiny little human in between. One big tangle of dragons, both literally and figuratively... This book is a standalone, and while I usually prefer a little more character development, I liked the way this story evolved. It has a good balance between plot development and steam and even a good balance between the characters in the harem. It is best not to think things through too much while reading, I still have some remaining questions after finishing this book. But when you let go of those, this is a pleasant and easy story to enjoy.
This book was so good to read. Admitly i have never read a book from this author before but i have her in my sights now, especially if she writes more books like this one. Braelyn, a human works at a club, but also has set her sights on becoming a singer. She has already auditioned but was turned down because a beautiful satyr got it because of her looks. However back at the bar Braelyn runs into a dragon, and not just any dragon. He is one of the Ruthless Dragon, Avrice, Sylt, Mortar and Rask. Despite her reluctance to like these guys she does, but theres trouble afoot. It seems that someone is trying to make it look like humans are out to destroy the Dragons.
This book really is a must read. Its not just about the menage, its more than that, its a full length story and a exciting one at that. I really think that if you start reading this book you truely wont want to stop it just that good.
I really didn’t have any insight or expectations when I selected this ARC to read and review. All I knew was that there was a tag which said “reverse harem” and that it involved dragons. This is my first ever reverse harem and I must say Jane Darkspire does not disappoint! First off, I loved the P.O.V. change with the chapters. I feel that style of writing really breaks down the individual character and allows the reader easy access to connect. Secondly, high-five Darkspire! Each individual dragon was just that–an individual! None of them were static characters or too similar in style or temperament. I appreciate the dual dynamic of the quick-pace/slow burn among the characters’ relationship(s). This read immediately draws the reader in, will keep the pages turning, and have them devouring the story until the very end when they’ll collectively say “Finally!” (in a good way). I had bitter-sweet emotions about the ending; it was such a freaking sweet ending, but was disappointing because it was all over. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

★ A page-turner, hot & kinky - very much looking forward to more from this author ★
—>>> Her name is Braelyn. And she likes tequila.” “What else does she like?” “Distractions.” Braelyn catches the lustful eyes of Avrice from across the seedy night club as she belts out a tune flawlessly at the mike, and he makes no bones about wanting her. Her impulsive encounter later with this mysterious purple-eyed male is interrupted, and Braelyn finds herself whisked away to The Hoard because they cannot risk that she may have ulterior motives. Except that Braelyn hates dragons… they are the reason she has no career and has to leave town. With her in their clutches, however, the lives of the Ruthless dragons become majorly complicated, and a magic carpet ride of a story awaits as they root out the evil in their town. This was a page-turner, hot and kinky - very much looking forward to more stories from this author!

Strong Female + Dragons + Passion + Action = a great story
I opened an email and the author told us about this KU book Tangle of Dragons, I had never heard of this book or author. For me to enjoy PNR books, its gotta really pull me from the beginning.... but I love RH.... so I gave this book a try and bam I couldn't put it down.... so I'm glad I took a chance on this book.
Braelyn wants to be a singer, the town is ruled by the Ruthless Dragons... she's had multiple disappointments...she's ready to leave the city....but a hot encounter with a certain man/dragon changes her course.... how, well give this book a chance, and find out; u won't regret it....
The book was well written, character development was on point and the plot/story was great! I would definitely reread this story again!
This is one of those books—I'm sure we've all read them—that objectively isn't very good. While the mechanical writing is fine, the pacing is off, there isn't any worldbuilding or character development, it's too heavy on the tell instead of show, the villains are cliched, the primary one is conquered too easily and anti-climactically, the men are not given equal attention, and there is no explanation for why the H is The One the men fall for and not just another toy as all the other women. Objectively this book is bad. But subjectively, it's a lot of fun. It's so committed to its over-the-top ridiculousness that you find yourself rolling along with it without thinking deeply enough to notice how bad it really is. I'd read another Darkspire book happily.
Braelyn's story is hot, mysterious, and delicious.
She's a human living in a city full of supernatural's. Trying to make it big with her music career, when her interview goes south, she goes to the bar she works at to drown her sorrows.
In a chance encounter she meets Avrice, who is one of the Reckless, a group of 4 dragons who are rumored to share their women, but she doesn't know that's who he is.
Betrayals, fights, spice, twists and turns later, the book ends on what seems to be a HEA. I would love to see more of Braelyn and her men.

2.75* . It honestly took me days to finish this one, it just seemed to go on and on, with only a bit of family drama and a bland (most of the time) FMC trying to 'make it' as a singer. It wasn't a bad book, just uninspiring. This is a shame because I enjoyed the other book from this author . The world building was great, though, and most of the characters. And who doesn't like a bit of dragon d. The smex train scenec at the end was great, but the removable p wasn't necessary. I enjoy 'removables' and other weird p. But it didn't really need it , she already has multiple. But for me it either needed to be more smut filled or more drama/action in the story. The balance is off.
Braelyn (h)has been trying to unsuccessfully to get a recording contract and has decided to call it quits. She catches the attention of Avrice/Vinn (H), a dragon shifter, and finds herself entangled with him and his friends and fellow dragon shifters, Sylt, Mortar and Rask. There's lots of action, adventure and drama with assassination attempts, arson, human-dragon conflict, and more. Plenty of hot and intense steamy action with Braelyn and her shifters - each of the dragon shifters is very different from one another and have their own preferred kinks. Exciting and intense read!
Romance and Action 4 ½ stars. - The book is halfway between entertaining and fascinating. I like the backstory on Sylt, Mortar and Rask. I was hoping for a grittier backstory on Avrice and Braelyn. I like the world setup of the story but again, I wish there is more history explained. There were several steamy scenes and there was never a boring moment in the plot. Maybe a sequel set in the same world but with a different RH group would be a good idea? I received an advanced copy and voluntarily chose to review it.
Story is a bit slow in the beginning and the romance is a slow build but it is well worth it. The story is complex and there are some great twists in it. The reverse harem is different than the usual in that not all of the harem Falls instantly in love, some are quite resistant. There is a great hide and seek with a monster scene. The sex is very well described, there are many scenes and some unusual attributes. I started out fearing I wouldn't finish the chapter and ended up not being able to put the book down.

Finished this absolutely amazing page turner in one sitting. Holy moly did this push all the right buttons?! If you like your book boyfriends to be plentiful, shifters and downright gorgeous - look no further. This is well written, thrilling and saucy as all hell.
Avrice, Sylt, Mortar and Rask are the perfect quad, each with their own compelling traits. I honestly cannot choose one (not that I’d have too 😏).

Um I don’t know what I expected when I picked up this book but it wasn’t to be obsessed with 4 dragons and their human. The steamy scenes were A+. The story was pretty solid. I definitely enjoyed myself.
