I work for a company that does mainframe software development. We decided to read this book in our book club so that everyone in the company had at least a basic understanding of how the mainframe worked. This book served its purpose in that regard.

The only thing I would have liked better was if there was a newer release of the book available. Some of the information is no longer accurate (our systems programmer answered our book club members' questions and provided more in-depth explanations where there was interest). I think an updated version would not be remiss, especially since there aren't many books on the market in this arena. Overall, though, this book met our needs.

This book provide small introduction to mainframe. It is important to have right expectations. This book doesn't cover Mainframe in deep. It just mention it after this You will know that something like mainframe exist and it is important in the world, It also have some equipment and needs power to run. But nothing more.

A great high level intro to mainframes. A quick read, but very useful. Like the parts I would highlight in a more detailed book. This has helped me figure out where I need to dive deeper and where this level of detail is fine.

A worthwhile, useful introduction to the world of mainframes. Lacking in some depth, but it does bill itself as an "introduction," so all is forgiven. It's also a light read considering the content.
