Pen the Penguin tries his best for Hayakawa the Human, but everything he does backfires… He gets trapped overnight at a haunted inn, gets stuck in a time loop with a baby chick, and gets mixed up with the other penguins at the aquarium! Somebody give this bird a break!
Another cute volume! It cracks me up seeing how instructional the chapters about housework are, but it makes sense considering this was originally serialized in a seinen magazine. Overall, this is a great series for when you need to unwind. Good for kids and adults alike. Pen is the most talented penguin ever. I'm obsessed with him. Kodansha: Pen merch when?
A quaint conclusion to a fantastic little manga series. There’s nothing else I can say about this one specifically that I haven’t already noted in the past volumes; the chapters are all just as wholesome and entertaining in their mundanity, and it’s easy to get invested due to how simple and goofy the art can be. I’m also pretty happy that the series decided to end where it did. While I wouldn’t have been averse to getting 100 more chapters due to how tailor-made the manga’s concept was to my specific tastes, I respect that the author decided it had fully run its course and ended it on his own terms rather than let the series run itself into the ground. And on a personal note, I appreciate that they did end it so soon because the trio of volumes makes for a great addition to my shelves without taking up too much room.
In this volume, Pen does a fashion show, gets a fancy coffee maker, Pen and Hayakawa and friends stay at a haunted hot spring inn, he teaches one of Hayakawa's friends how to do laundry, does some home improvement projects, saves some chicks, visits the aquarium, babysits for a neighbor, goes to the vet, runs down a mountain and back to get money, hangs out with another penguin, fixes a dye job, makes bento and has little side adventures.
This was a cute collection of adventures, though some may find the haunted inn story a bit creepy. I'm sad this is the last volume in this series. :(
Notes on content: Language: Maybe a couple minor swears, but I don't remember any. Sexual content: None Violence: None. Deaths of some relatives in the past of a friend are related. Ethnic diversity: People are Japanese LGBTQ+ content: None specified. Other: Pen can see ghosts at the inn.
I'm sad this is the last volume, especially considering how I felt about the first volume! I loved the pancake battle and gasped along with Pentaro when Hayakawa added milk and sugar to his coffee (and I don't even drink coffee!). Haunted inns, laundry instructions, Penguin DIY, mistaken identity (with other penguins), it's all here in this volume.
A cute slice of life manga about a housekeeping penguin that might teach us a thing or two about fashion, cooking and doing laundry. I want to have a housekeeping penguin too :(
I loved this volume and adore the entire series. Pen is the best pet, housekeeper, cook, and friend. I like how Pen's owner is drawn and written as an airhead, yet he is smart at most random moments. His friends are chaotic and loyal. This became one of my favorite series so far.
Pen is so cute 🥺🥺 sad this is the last book in the series!! The art is super cute as always and the stories hold up as well. Overall a wonderful manga series!!
This volume for me was the most funniest out of all of them. I really did enjoy reading the entire series. It was so much fun and I can imagine myself re-reading this again.
