Beth

The end is coming.

I can feel the shadow of foreboding coming ever nearer, readying itself to end things once and for all. And yet, there is still a slither of light, a memory of the love that was made. My grip on that flicker of hope is fast fading, but if I lose myself completely, at least I’ll know it was for you; it was for us.

For all the promises we made to one another, some of which we had to break, know that I kept the most important one – I will forever be yours.

Xander

I’ve laid low for a higher purpose; to keep a promise I had made to Beth. But now, the time has come to end things. To put right the wrongs of all that has come to pass. I will wreak my vengeance, destroy my enemy, and when justice finally wins out, I will know that I did all that I could to save us.

You'd think being a writer, I would find this an easy feat, but talking about myself always leaves me a little stumped. So, I beg for your forgiveness when I attempt to give you a little bit of waffle about me. I'm a mother, wife and primary school teacher, who has found a passion for reading and writing. It's become so addictive I no longer watch TV, instead I get lost in alternative realities and frequently lie awake in the middle of the night with random ideas for what to put my characters through next. Music is often my muse but I also love to include real life experiences in my books. I want people to be able to relate to my characters and to know that they're not the only ones to go through certain difficulties, anxieties or embarrassing situations. I like to think my stories are different from one another, some being romantic comedies whilst others are full of suspense. Hopefully you agree and will enjoy getting lost inside of my head for a while. My serving suggestion is to indulge with a side dish of something sweet, something comfy and where possible, a golden retriever to curl up next to.

Wow, what an ending. I can't describe how much I loved this series and the ending was just everything!

I cried, I laughed, I smiled and I cried some more. The story is heartbreakingly beautiful and the characters extremely well written.

I have read all the published stories this author has written and would recommend each and every one of them! 💜

Save Us is the third and final book in the Mayfield trilogy, concluding the story of Beth and Xander, as they survive being subjected to the old, traditional, and draconian ways of a secret organization/cult, Mayfield. I extremely loved the second book, Save Me, and for this book, I just want to read about their happy ending and wouldn't you know it: miss Taylor K. Scott delivered.

There was a time skip in this book, which I found necessary to the plot. For me, it showed the length of suffering the characters have gone through, and the amount of strength they possessed. The second book was more brutal, in my opinion, more painful and devastating. I was more than ecstatic that this last book provided such a satisfying resolution. Of course, there was still the suspense of the unknown. There was also an unexpected act that I did not see coming and I was pleasantly surprise when it was provided.

The book started with a prologue where a meeting occurred between two parties. It didn't exactly picked up where the Save Me left off with its time skip, but like what I've said, I deemed it significant and even found it natural. Heartbreak, though not as gravely as in the previous book, was very much present in this book. I've become acquainted with the pain, and the possibility that there would be no light at the end of the tunnel.

Beth has been through a lot, and even contemplated taking her own life multiple times. She still has some fight left in her, but as Oliver proved to be unyielding in his venture to possess her, the burning wildfire that once burned inside of her slowly faded into a kindle and even growing less and less each passing day. But fire is catching and if she was burning into nothing, she'd be sure that at least she'd take Oliver with her. She'd sacrificed everything for Xander and their daughter, but there's only so much abuse and violation she could take.

Xander has his and Beth's daughter to live for, but it doesn't make his mornings and nights any easier. He was still deeply in love with the mother of his child, the love of his life. He sought comfort in faceless women and the intimacy he found in them was only because he sees the face of Beth in place of theirs. He should be moving on, but he won't step down without a fight - one final countdown to ensure the downfall of Oliver and Mayfield and every single vile thing it stood for.

Oliver was a beautiful nightmare, the devil in disguise. Cruel, manipulative, abusive. Like what I've mentioned in my review for Save You, he reminds me of Ryle from It Ends With Us. This is what the devil was - charming, conniving, and deceiving. If only his sins could be pardoned with each bouquet of flowers he offered every time he subjected Beth to hell. I've never hated a man more in my entire life than I hate him.

Like what Xander said in the book, it took a village to help raise Rosie and my favorite thing about this book was the other characters. Like in Save Me and Save You, Beth and Xander weren't alone on their fight. They have people to support them, albeit the helplessness that everybody felt weighing them down facing such an opponent as Oliver and Carl (Beth's grandfather) behind the seemingly impenetrable fortress of Mayfield.

But these people continued to help Beth and Xander, they are the heroes of this story and I loved that the main characters weren't alone in their fight. There was a plan in motion, another player in the game who held the power to either eliminate or reinforce the immoral and inhumane ways of Mayfield. For there could be a threat that once the evil was destroyed, another evil would only replace it.

There were scenes of both the main characters getting involved with other people, and though I'm not a fan of that and believed it's not necessary to read them being physically intimate with people other than themselves in great detail, I overlooked the matter and focused on the real feelings they have for each other.

I enjoyed the writing of the previous book more than this one because it was more creative with its parallel between the past and the present and the stories of Beth and Rosalie. The excessive use of exclamation points still bothered me as with the other two books.

The ending was when only I allowed myself to breathe and the relief in my chest was incomparable when I finally read those last pages. A mixture of sadness and elation flooded towards me. Truly, there was no better way to close the final chapter to Mayfield.

Be sure to check the warnings before diving right in because this book contains disturbing scenes and themes.

Thank you Taylor K. Scott for an ARC of this entire series. All opinions are my own.

Please read trigger warnings prior to starting this series.

This last book did a number on me; 30% into it and I was sending Taylor a message telling her she was basically killing me with the suspense, angst, and hell that Beth is going through. In my opinion, the true measure of a great writer is their ability to evoke such strong emotions. That being said, this book made me feel a HUGE range of emotions, my chest ached, my throat had a lump and my palms were sweaty. No, this is not an Eminem song, but damn, it felt like I was gearing up to battle while reading.

I try to give honest reviews because I enjoy reading reviews that tell me the truth. Every reader is different, with that being said, I rated this ending a 4. The writing was phenomenal, the story was intense and the characters had growth (except Oliver, who was flat out psycho all the time), but it all delivered. The ONLY reason I couldn't give it the full 5 ⭐ had NOTHING to do with the writing and more to do with me as a reader. I don't have many triggers, BUT I'm a very empathic person so many times books affect me more than the normal person. I take what I've read, hold onto it and will at times get into a funk. For that reason, all of the emotional, physical, sexual and mental abuse Beth went through hit me hard. It was so much for one person to endure and just when I would think she had an out, she sacrificed more. I will not spoil the book for you, if you want more information feel free to message me, but as I said before I like to be honest about my ratings.

Now, let me just tell you that I despised Oliver and Carl. Ugh, they are despicable human beings and kudos to you Taylor for creating such vile villains. Rosie was adorable and the silver lining to the dark cloud that was Beth's life. Xander held on and while it was painful to see, I'm so happy he did. Kai, Bodhi and Leo were the perfect non blood family and their protectiveness when it came to Beth made my heart swell.

There is a HEA and it was as if a heavy weight was lifted off of me when it finally happened. I loved that every villain in Beth's story got what was coming to them and that so many different people played such a role in rescuing her. This series was about more than the love story between Beth and Xander. It was about the love and protection between friends, father figures, family and the love of a mother for her child. I HIGHLY recommend reading this series, but make sure to read the triggers prior as the material is very heavy.

The Best of the Three

While I had a hard time connecting with this series in the beginning, the storyline grew on me and Taylor Scott did a great job tying up all of the loose ends in this kiss goodbye to the horrible Mayfield. This review may contain spoilers for books one and two.

We are still in the Mayfield setting, or rather Beth is. She gave her life to save those she loved and boy has she been paying for it. Everyday is worse than the last, but if there was ever a will to live, this girl has it. Taylor Scott has matured her as we've read and I appreciate it. Sure she's still got her smart mouth, but the lines aren't one off cheese balls anymore. She's smart, calculating and with the help of Leo, she's stayed alive this long. Xander is lost without her and actually, he was the annoying one this time around. I am never a fan of the guy who has to F away his memories. That said, he was also smart and conniving this time around and even if they didn't know it, Xander and Beth were quite the team.

Beth has luck on her side with zero time, so if anybody is going to save her, they best get going. There are a ton of moving parts to make that happen and I couldn't wait to see who did what. While it felt predictable, there really was no way of telling who was going to be left standing when it was all said and done.

The book is well written and I'll have to say and in my eyes, it felt like the writing had improved over the span of the three books. All previous characters are present and accounted for to help move the storylines along. Save Us completes the Mayfield trilogy, with a nice epilogue to wrap things up.

A friend from the past and an unlikely ally turn the tide of events in this gripping conclusion to the Mayfield saga.
This riveting third chapter in Beth, Xander and Oliver’s story jumps ahead five years only for us to discover the gut-wrenching tragedy that is Beth’s life has continued from where we last left her. The story continues to be one of shock and disbelief over the actions of the vile humans Beth must endure, but Ms. Scott writes with such heart-breaking emotion it sweeps you away and as the story progresses a sense of hope permeates through.
Throughout the whole saga Ms. Scott has created a world with an organization we can focus our loathing on as she weaves a story of generations, storylines that are well plotted and paced and characters that we either love or hate and those that add tremendously to the story. At its most basic, it is a beautiful love story, a love that withstands so, so much and Ms. Scott has given us a most worthy conclusion with the final epilogue capping it brilliantly.
I laughed at times (Bodhi really is a great character), I cried a lot, and I enjoyed this immensely.

This is the third and conclusion of this phenomenal trilogy, and what a perfect ending this is. Beth is still living in hell, and she has endured so much in her life it is heartwrenching, and hope is fading fast with no way out in sight. Xander is determined to execute his promise to Beth and wreck vengeance on the enemy. The love these two have for each other is like no other, and they have so many challenges to overcome on their path. This is a well written flawless story, which is a dark, raw, gritty, and intense, emotional roller coaster, which had me on tenterhooks throughout, and this story pulls at the heartstrings. This story has angst, trauma, vengeance, suspense, tension, humor, twists, secrets, challenges, and is a heartwrenching and riveting page turner. I highly recommend this talented authors’ work.
This is not a story for the faint-at-heart!

The last part of the Mayfield trilogy naturally ends with a happy ending. But what a road the reader has gotten in reading these books. Also in this part moments where you can't help but feel empathy for Beth and the choices she makes to live her life the way she must. And what a cold man her husband is and the things he does with and against Beth.
And you can't help but love Xander. The way he deals with his grief, how he deals with his daughter, how he clings to his feelings for Beth, even though she is dead, as he believes.

A story that evoked a lot of emotions in me while reading it. Disgust, compassion, hope, courage, a laugh, a tear but above all the feeling of trust. Trust that everything will be fine, trust in Beth and the people around her. But also trust in love. Because this book shows that love is a strong emotion that overcomes many things.

Highly recommended for readers who like a story with an emotionally charged narrative.

The final instalment of this dark and twisted romance, had me on my toes from the first pages.

We have even more heartbreak in this one and not just for not just Xander and Beth. Mayfield has affected them all directly or indirectly but will Beth be saved from Oliver and his obsessive clutches? And can Xander find peace?

Taylor has truly written a story that I have never read anything like it before and potentially never will again, her words took me with Beth and Xander with so many heart clutching moments and literal tears she managed to capture my heart and I was all in with this trilogy, we get the answers we need and where she could have quickly finished this story after a certain event she didn’t rush the ending ensuring the characters and their emotions were real.

It will take you on a emotional rollercoaster ride. You are rooting for Beth and Xander to get back to one another. You don't want to miss this trilogy.

OMG I absolutely love the series and this final book definitely did not disappoint! I truly could not put it down and read it in a day. The twists and turns had you on the edge of your seat. Beth and Xander's love for each other just make you wish to find that kind of love for yourself. So happy with how it ended but at the same time so sad that the series is done, just love these books so much. I highly recommend these books to everyone.

What a journey this series has been! We have gone through all of the tumbles and blows Xander and Beth have had to face in order to reunite and take down Mayfield. The author did a great job exploring different themes and developing these characters over the course of the series. There was no lack of suspense, action, and heartbreaking moments but also we had hope and our HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed this series.

Beth and Xander.. what a crazy ride with this couple for sure so many challenges, and paths for them to take to find each other again and finally find their love together. Yes, there were a lot of love challenges that Beth has to get over and Xander. This romance has some dark inside but it does keep your heart tangled in this book and it was so good that i didn't feel like there was anything wrong while reading this book!.

Save Us by Taylor K. Scott is book Three in the Mayfield Series. This continues the story of Beth, Xander and Oliver that started in the first book 'Save me' then continued on to the second book 'Save You'. So this book won't be a standalone book. Their story picks up with some time passing since the last book. Oliver still has control over Beth who wanted to keep Xander and her daughter safe. Xander is raising their daughter but has been giving himself to meaningless encounters with others. This is a really emotional read/series but it is a good one for sure.
