In 1938 Baltimore businessman Joseph Cambria funded the construction of a new minor league baseball park in Greenville, South Carolina. It became known as Meadowbrook Park and for the next 34 years, it was the home to a scrapbook full of sacred baseball memories. An impressive list of 40 Hall of Famers appeared at the historic park. Meadowbrook's professional teams were the Spinners, Braves, Mets, Red Sox and Rangers. Nearly a hundred players from these teams played in the major leagues. But Meadowbrook was more than just a hometown ballpark with a record of famous baseball players who passed through its gates. It was a home field for area high school, American Legion and Negro League teams and a birthplace of childhood dreams. Voices of Meadowbrook Park uses engaging biographical stories to resurrect the memory of a treasured old ballpark. It is a must-read for baseball fans of all ages.
