I scanned the sky, looking for familiar constellations, and dread settled on my shoulders. “Somewhere that ain’t Earth, kid.”
Offered a chance to rub shoulders with the Rimbault Society’s elite at a fundraiser, Alex Fossor knows he’d rather spend a night in the ditch. But when a brazen thief makes off with a priceless artifact, events spiral out of control and Alex is catapulted to Skye, a primitive world in another universe.
To get home Alex must find the thief, but the search draws him into a conflict between Skye’s militant religious industrialists, and barbarian nature-worshipers of the wilderness. With his necromancy amplified beyond imagination in this new realm, and far from the Society’s Edicts, Alex’s brazen actions threaten to spark the fires of war.
But if it gets him home, Alex is prepared to embrace the role of a dark messiah and bring ruin to any who stand in his way. Will he be able to rein in his own worst impulses? Can Skye survive him, if he can’t?
