What a wonderful volume!
I enjoyed the first volume quite a bit, but I LOVED this second volume!
I really enjoy seeing Kanako grow as an individual and how she has to face things she believed about the past in regard to lying. Her feeling like she will only end up hurting people with her power absolutely broke my heart and once again I am so thankful for Mr. Iwai and how he encourages our main girl.
And speaking of him, I think with the first volume I was expecting and/or hoping there would be a romance, which is why I didn't FULLY love the first volume. Knowing that this story isn't a romance (or at least for now it hasn't been. Not sure if in the future it will be.) really helped me in my expectations and actually made me appreciate the friendship these two have a lot more. It's always so much fun to see their shenanigans together, but the one chapter where they have a deeper conversation was really beautiful. <3
The mysteries were great as always! I did find myself spooked in that haunted house mystery though! LOL! It's one thing reading only words and another thing seeing the pictures I realized! Ha! However, the mangaka is AMAZING because she weaved in so much humor that I really felt sucked into that mystery, and was probably my favorite yet! I also liked the Girls Detective Agency though I won't say more due to spoilers.
The ending was perfection! I really loved that closing line and can't wait for the next volume and seeing where our detectives go next and the cases they'll solve!
Definitely recommend to mystery fan readers who enjoy lots of humor woven in with an inspiring message!

This volume really feels like the author got her feet under her, and the exploration of Kanoko's skill is much deeper and more interesting. The "haunted house" mystery is particularly well done.

This volume started off with the mystery of a haunted house, which I thought was very well done (Chapters 5 and 6).
Then we have a story of a missing mirror and returning it to its owner (Chapter 7) - this event made Kanoko question the usefulness of her power as a tool to help others. We learn more about how, growing up, Kanoko's ability has hurt others (Chapter 8).
Finally, the volume ends with a mini mystery over a dispute about a restaurant order that was taken incorrectly (I solved this mystery right away lol...)
Overall, a good continuation of the series where we get to know the characters a bit more.
I was happy when I realized I could use my power to help people. I though that I could help Mr. Iwai. And yet I just hurt more people instead.

Vol. 1 ★★★☆☆
This is a massive downgrade from the first volume. These cases are unremarkable and wrap up in underwhelming ways. I kept waiting for some twists and turns to liven things up as I refused to believe that's all there is to it. The awful translation certainly doesn't help. I can't believe this got okayed and sent to print. Just amateurish and feels disrespectful to the mangaka.

the mystery stories are predictable but still a fun read, i especially liked the chapter about kanoko talking about her feelings and insecurities about her powers and here comes iwai to assure her, so wholesome💗

I think I’m going to stop reading this series. The production value in the English edition is poor, and the story isn’t making up for those shortcomings.

3.5 stars.
This was sweet but did not love it as much as the first volume. I want longer form mysteries now.

Still obsessed with this one, and can't wait for the next volume!

I'm having such a goodtime reading this series. The mystery cases aren't that oustanding but I really enjoy the characters and their journey.

Kanako’s back story makes me sad.
Not much else to say. Just seems episodic. I hope I won’t get bored lol

The first story with the ghost was interesting, but the mystery solving is…very convenient. Why did the dead husband turn into a mummy? No one smelled the decomposition? Why would the murderer return 10 years later, and why would she rob and try to murder a second person in basically the same way? Why did the robber just confess to having robbed and murdered the old guy and not even try to escape?
TBH, I find Kanako dumb and not too believable. As someone who grew up with this power, I would expect her to understand more about it than she does. Like that hearing a lie doesn’t mean you can deduce the truth. I also thought she was an idiot as a kid. Who just busts out with “haha, you lied again!” If she understands what a lie is, she knows it’s “bad,” so why act like that? It would be more likely for a kid to say “that isn’t true. Why did you lie?”
I think the author hasn’t really considered what it would be like to have this power, so she is a very shallow character over all.

The mystery in the first half of this volume didn't do a lot for me, but I really enjoyed the latter half, where the story looks into Kanoko's often painful relationship with her power. Not that I'm attached to angst per se though I can be, sometimes--it's more an appreciation of a more introspective take on supernatural powers than you see in superhero stories and shonen manga.
I was able to figure out the mystery in the last chapter of this volume well before the characters did, which to me indicates it was incredibly simple, since mystery is not my genre at all. :D
"Making of" type sections are always cool, and here we have photos of some homes and businesses that were the inspiration for settings in the (I believe) fictional town of Tsukumoya.

The expansion of this story was so well done!!
I can tell the author was putting in more thought, and the conflicts and mysteries in this volume were so amazing!
I enjoy the conflicts that Kanoko feels and how well her character has been adapted and developed throughout the two volumes.
Definitely worth the read for a fun, silly, personal, and mysterious manga!

Loved it! I loved the mysteries and I feel for the fmc because of the fact she can sense lies and she got a little ahead of herself and jumped to conclusions based on a lie. It put her in a tailspin. But the mmc helped her out and they also solved a mystery too. I'm really enjoying this and I can't wait for more

Most of this volume explores Kanoko's powers and her turbulent history with them. Seeing exactly what happened in her childhood makes all of her reactions make more sense. There's also a really good haunted house mystery in the first half.

3⭐️
The story gets a bit repetitive with the FL going on and on about her power and how alienated she feels. On the other hand the cases are decent and the mechanics behind what constitutes a lie for Kanoko is fascinating.

Chapter 6's mystery didn't impress me. I was very excited for something more serious and was disappointed how it wrapped up so quickly and with plot holes. The rest of it was very mundane. If the third volume doesn't impress me I'll probably be unhauling the series.

This series has a cozy feeling to it that I enjoy. There are still dark moments but overall, I am really enjoying Urabe and Iwai's developing friendship. I will continue if I can get my hands on the next book.

The mysteries continue for our pair. This volume focused more on Kanoko's trauma(?) from her ability to detect lies. We get some exploration of the "white lie" meant to comfort or avoid hurting others as well as some flashbacks to her childhood and how she came to dislike her power.

Didn't expect the dark turn at Chapter 8. I love how Kanoko has depth and growth in each chapter. Wasn't a fan of the ghost story thing though, felt very throwaway.

This series continues to be interesting. While it's not the most gripping of tales, I'm definitely curious and can't wait to see what comes next in volume 3!
