Thanks goodness that cliff hanger from the previous book is over!

This story takes Huntley on a journey back in time as she tries to remember the days before her mother left her. She re-traces everywhere they went and talks to people who can help her in her quest for the truth. Along the way she finds clues that mostly leave her feeling confused but also closer to revealing the secrets she desperately needs the answers to.

‘I feel like I’m trapped in the video game of my life, and if I make the wrong move, I’ll be dead.’

Lorenzo and Huntley continue to see each other and their sweet connection just seems to grow more each day. Could she really see a future with this man and be the Queen he needs by his side for the rest of his life or is she just caught up in a fairy tale?

As the circle of people that Huntley can trust gets smaller she realises that the only person she can have 100% faith in is herself. Now she just needs to stay alive and figure out what her mother is trying to show her beyond the grave.

Just like the previous stories in this series, this is a fast paced, thrilling read that I read from cover to cover!

3.5 Stars! I not a series reader, any of my friends will tell you. I just get bored and move on, especially if there’s a long wait in between instalments. But I just can’t quit the Spy Girl series!

I’m addicted to Huntley and Ari and their journey to find answers. To be completely honest, I’m not a huge fan of the romance portion of these books between Huntley and Lorenzo, simply because I think it’s cheesy and fake, but hey, to each their own. I’m addicted to the mystery. It’s almost like a treasure hunt, you have vague clues and need to figure it out. As soon as you think you find something, it leads to more possibilities and questions than actual answers. And I LOVE when a book will keep me guessing.

In that same breath though, I found at times while reading the Valiant that there’s a LOT of information thrown at the reader at once. And I’ll admit, even though I’m now 4 books into this series I at times had a hard time following exactly what was happening. The characters can jump back and forth and left and right quickly, so not necessarily a book to read before you go to bed and are half asleep (guilty).

For whatever (stupid - LOL) reason, I thought that this was the last book in the series. Of course, by the time I got to about 75% I noticed that simply wasn’t possible because there was still way too much going on, but anyways. I shouldn’t have been surprised, especially based on how the last books ended, but man, Jillian loves her cliffhangers!

I feel bad admitting this but I totally laughed at the end of the book. This could be because I don’t really care for the relationship between Huntley and a Lorenzo, but whatever [come on, they’ve known each other for like a month and their worlds revolve around each other and they want to get married? I don’t get it, so I just roll my eyes more and more often.] I wasn’t upset, my first thought was ‘Damnnn, that boy is in TROUBLE!’

And it still is.

I think I’ll be snickering over this until the next book comes out and I have to read that one too.

Another fascinating instalment in the life of Huntley. With yet more mystery and intrigue, this series really is going from strength to strength.

Still completing her missions, Huntley is also following the trail of clues and revelations that her mother left all whilst trying to decide whether to become the future Queen of Montrovia and marry Lorenzo but with so much on her mind, is she facing too many complications in her life to fully commit to her relationship with Lorenzo?

Ari, Huntley’s previously unknown brother, is also still working alongside her as well as her collection of assassins and hackers and together they try to find out who is planning the attacks on Montrovia, and potentially the world, in order to bring the long sought after dreams of Arcadia to life. With Huntley’s amnesia starting to lesson, but only when she finds a clue and heads off to the places she visited with her mother before she was killed, Huntley is starting to piece the puzzle together but all clues seem to be leading to Arcadia and the secret organisation behind its creation.

From secret sects to royalty and even the President’s son, this story really does reach for the stars where plot and suspense are concerned. The only downside for me is that there are just too many characters to keep track off. Each book really needs to come with a refresher/crib sheet to remind readers who each character is and the part they have played in the series to date. I seem to spend more time going back over previous instalments that being able to fully commit to the latest book.

My minor frustrations aside, this really is a great series and I can’t wait for the next instalment and to see what will happen between Huntley and Lorenzo after the Queen’s shocking (for Huntley) announcement.

The Valiant (Spy Girl #4) by Jillian Dodd
4.5 stars!!!

“You’re the dream that won’t die…”

I adore this series and Jillian Dodd is doing an amazing job of keeping this plot action packed, addictive and all-consuming. In this book, this Spy Kids come James Bond’esque serial adds a touch of Da Vinci Code as Huntley finds herself trailing clues as to her past, what happened to her mother and how this impinges her future.

After the doozy of a cliff-hanger in The Society, The Valiant starts where The Society left off and while my lips are totally zipped, Huntley should never be underestimated. This is a trip down memory lane for Huntley, whereby she follows the trails of breadcrumbs her mother left in the vague hope of being able to recall her and her mothers’ final steps. Huntley hopes that going to these places will give her deja vu and she will be able to recollect any and everything that happened.

“I feel like I’m trapped in the video game of my life, and if I make the wrong move, I’ll be dead. I used to be okay about going Game Over, but that was back when…”

The threat to Lorenzo is rife as is the threat to Montrovia and everything points back to what Huntley’s mother was trying to tell her. As her mothers’ clues from beyond the grave begin to mount up, it soon becomes apparent that the only person that she can trust, is herself. Maybe though, getting too close to the truth, could be her demise. It seems everyone associated with this, is already dead.

Full of conspiracy theories and as I said above Da Vinci Code type clues, this book has your brain running a mile a minute as you try to piece together what is presented to Huntley. I loved the history contained within these pages and the amount of research was much appreciated. Lorenzo and Huntley’s relationship moves at Mach speed due to royal responsibilities but is this all too much too soon? I love the relationship that these two share and as one of her mothers clues comes to the fore, it made their relationship all the more special, but what you have to bear in mind is the time frame of the four books so far, is only a few weeks, although it seems as though I have spent years with these characters.

“Lorenzo, his monarchy, and his country are being threatened from sources unknown, and somehow, the two of us are mixed up in it, making both of us vulnerable regardless of our emotions. I tell myself that it has nothing to do with love. But I know better.”

The ending of this book, although not as traumatic as The Society, leaves just as bitter a taste and of course leaves the reader wanting more and more and more. My heart broke in this book and while this story still has a lot of legs I would love for something for once to go right for our Huntley. She needs some light in the dark, dark world that she constantly finds herself in. Bring on book 5.

“You are all the pretty in my life, Lorenzo. Do you know that?”

Huntley Von Allister continues her mission as the assassin known as the Priest continues with his hits. People die. Alliances are formed. Now there are nuclear backpack bombs floating around in Great Britain and it’s up to Huntley and her team to track them down and figure out what Montrovia has to do with this entire plot before it blows up in their faces.

“It’s why I couldn’t kill The Priest. It’s why I took his son. It’s why I didn’t kill him, even when he tried to blow us all up. I couldn’t do that to Chauncey. Blackwood Academy failed. I’m not the hardened killer they wanted me to be.”

I’m just in shock at the end of this one! I guessed perhaps some of it but THAT!?!? I did love the closeness that Lorenzo and Huntley shared and how they actually talked about the future. This secret Society is really messing with my mind. I’m not sure who to trust and worry about Ari, Daniel and Lorenzo becoming involved. Huntley just seems to have such a rational outlook on most things. With all of the twists in this book, I almost need index cards to keep it straight about what clues have been found and what might be going on. I guess the main thing is I really, really want more and that’s always a good thing!

I would highly recommend this series for all ages. There is so much mystery, suspense and some light romance. The twists never stop coming and every time you think you’ve figured out the plan, something new comes up to complicate it even further!

This is an addictive series that takes you on an adventure. I love the characters and am so glad we pick up where the last book left off. Talk about a major book hangover.

Huntley is awesome! I wish I was as tough as she is. She is on a mission to save Prince Lorenzo and his country Montrovia. While on this mission she is learning a lot about her mom.

I’m not going to give anything away. This series though you really need to read. It has the perfect amount of spy girl with some romance. I need book five like now after the ending!

4 out of 5 stars

I was on pins and needles when the bomb went off in book #3 and then ended, leaving us wondering about Huntley and Lorenzo's potential demise! I mean if they had died there really wouldn't have been a need to continue the story so I felt confident they would make it but I was dying to know how Jillian would spin it. Let me just say she did it brilliantly!

So what did I love about this installment? Mainly Huntley and Lorenzo's relationship. It's like they are both finally on the same page, the same team and have the same goals in mind. They have finally freely admitted their feelings for one another and while Huntley is struggling to balance feelings she was trained to stay away from she continues to push through and choose love. I was so excited and felt all the "feels." She's a girl on a mission and I especially enjoyed the "treasure hunt." I think watching her re-live her memories left me feeling more connected to her character.

What I found myself frustrated with was trying to keep track of all the secondary characters and their back stories. Jillian, if you're reading this review, can we get a flow chart or something at the start of the next book with a little brief synopsis of where the previous book left off? I think because I read other books in between waiting on the new releases of this series I forget important details and then I spend the first several chapters trying to re-familiarize myself with the players and that takes away from really being able to focus on the important details and clues as the new material progresses. Maybe I should just re-read the previous book before I start the new release?!?!

I do wish Huntley hadn't reacted so quickly and stormed out at the first sign of trouble in paradise. I would have loved to of seen the two of them stand united, fight for one another and their relationship. I think they are stronger and better together and only hope they figure this out very quickly in the next book because I'd much rather see them stand together than apart.

Needless to say I love these characters and really do enjoy this series. I without a doubt recommend you take the plunge into this series yourself! It's full of mystery, love and seriously who wouldn't want to pretend they were living vicariously through this Spy Girl as they escaped their own reality?

Okay so I would totally give this book 5 stars but the ending totally ticked me off and now I have to wait for the next one which better rectify the miscommunication quickly. There are times when you can quickly see how young, inexperienced, and immature Huntley is and as an adult it bothers me.

Now, Huntley has given in to the feelings she has for Lorenzo and she knows he is exactly what she needs. However Lorenzo is under pressures of his own, and Huntley is still receiving assignments from people she doesn't trust. She knows who she really is and that Ari is her family and she spends it following in the clues that her mother left her. Slowly her memories are coming back the only problem is that they are bringing more questions then answers.

I continue to love Lorenzo and Huntley and loved the whole book until the surprise at the end which just made me mad. (which was literally the last 1% of the book)

For how great the rest of the series was, this one was disappointing. It felt rushed and nothing was really explained....and the ending was kind of stupid and predictable. I'll still read the last book in the series in the hopes that it makes up for it, but this one was a let down.

Every time I pick a Jillian Dodd book up I know it's going to be a good one. This Spy Girl series might bump out my boy Phillip for my fave of hers by the time this is all over and I do not say that lightly. Phillip has had my heart since day 1.

This series has so many moving parts I am in awe that Jillian can keep them all straight. Not to mention the history she has woven into this story to make it what it is. I can only imagine the notes upon notes she must have to keep this story flowing the way it does. 3 more books and so much still to learn. At the end of this book I worried a bit that everything we still need to learn would fit in 3 books but I know Jillian and I know her writing so in the end I am confident everything will work out exactly the way it's supposed to.

Like I've said in previous reviews, the Spy Girl series is a classic Jillian Dodd series but maybe a little more fun this time around. She knows how to pull you in and keep you hooked although hooked may not be the right word for how I feel about this one. I can't wait to see where the rest of this adventure takes us.

The Spy Girl series is so exciting and every time I finish an installment, the cliffhanger leaves me panting for the next book! The author has done such a great job developing Huntley's character over the first 4 books in the series, and The Valiant was especially fun because we got so much more information about her childhood and mother through flashbacks. I enjoy all the male characters- Lorenzo, Daniel, and Ari- they are all developed so well too. I alternate between swooning for Enzo and Daniel I'll admit! Looking forward to book 5!

I'm not sure how to process what I just read.

I was sure Lorenzo couldn't be more swoon worthy, but Jillian has done it again. I loved that the relationship between him and Huntley grew stronger. It was intense learning her past right along with her.

I need the last book now so I know that they will have their HEA...

They keep you captivated, and wanting to turn each page and not stop. The Valiant starts to put together many pieces for Lee and her family and “friends.” It definitely leaves you wanting more and more and I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

Oh my gosh! Lorenzo pulls at my heart strings so much. The fourth book in Spy Girl series is like opening up a treasure chest UNFORTUNATELY that chest comes with fakes as well.
I’m reading as soon as one of their theories is opened another reveals itself making the one you just opened blow up in your face and not know if it’s real or it just keeps adding to the list.
Huntley may be a bad ass, but the girl has a huge heart and it could possibly be the thing that turns her world upside down or worse killed.
It’s a rollercoaster of emotions as all of Jillian’s books.
I cried, laughed and crossed my fingers for hope of the missions go right. I love this series and of course you never see what’s coming at the end and BAM the Queen of cliffhangers gets you again.

This book was another really good read. I did have some trouble remembering what all happened in the previous books but once I remembered it was an amazing journey!

I love Huntley and Lorenzo. I love watching them together. They have such an amazing connection!!

Lorenzo is the perfect gentleman! We need more men like him in this world!!

I cannot wait to see what happens next! I really wish there wasn’t such a long wait between books because it’s hard to remember everything that happens in the previous books when you’ve read so many between them.

And what a tangled web she weaves. Jillian Dodd does a fantastic job of keeping you on the edge of your seat and guessing this entire book. The plot thickens, the characters develop and the ending will blow you away. You MUST read the first three books of this series to have any chance of knowing what is going on. But if you like action packed, suspense filled, romantic thrillers...this series is for you.

As always, JD continues to blow my mind. Her artistic ability to write such in depth suspenseful scenes, ignites a passion within. I have to say, with each of these releases, in this series, every book delivers much more than the last. The Valiant is no different. It is a fast paced game of cat and mouse, with the mix of the swoons and the feels.

I need to gush about my love for Huntley. She shows no sign of devastation, yet she has had her fair share of it. She masks her pain, her worries, and her passion for her job (well to some degree, you'll understand if you follow this series). Again, Huntley shows that she will not stop. She is a go getter and will do anything in her power to end up on top. Even if she gets injured. I was blown away with her this book. I swear, she doesn't stop. Her love for her Ari, is constant. As much as she was trained to work alone, she has learned to keep him at her side. They have this wonderful relationship, even though things are at odds in Montrovia, and well....just about everywhere else.

Basically The Valiant prepares us for everything that is coming. It starts right where The Society ended. It's chock-full of excitement; from craziness to swooniness. I can't wait for The Dauntless. I see BIG THINGS coming. JD has been prepping us since Spy Girl. And to be honest, I CANNOT WAIT. I think she is going to rock our world, in the coming books. Each book has given us clues of what to expect. However, each clue thus far has been intricately woven into the stories. You think you know something, but at the next turn you don't. If you are new to this series, start with Spy Girl. And prepared to be wowed. I have devoured each one of these books and am dying for the next releases!! 5 Mind Blowing Stars!!

I’ve been a lover of this series since it first released, and I don’t know how let this installment sit in on my Kindle for so long before reading it.

In The Valiant, we get to watch Huntley trace the steps she took with her mother before her death, and try to remember things she blocked before to put things together and save the world yet again. She’s also working through her feelings with Lorenzo and how their relationship should evolve. I loved watching Lorenzo and Huntley’s relationship grow in this book, he’s so sweet with her, and he makes her want to change and see a different life than the one that was created for her. While being with Lorenzo though and on her hunt for answers of the past, she’s realizing quicker and quicker that she can’t trust as many people as she though she could.

This book takes you on a bunch of wild twists and turns and had me questioning so much, I love these characters and I hate them too. I want them to do the right thing, find happiness and I want Huntley to be free. Most of this doesn’t happen in this book, and I can’t wait to see where this series takes us next. If you’re a love of the Spy Girls Series, I highly suggest picking up The Valiant and going on Huntley’s next journey today!

These books always get me! I always sit down to read them and then end up reading them in one sitting! I have loved this series from the first book and now I'm dying to know what the fifth book is about!

*Possible Spoilers*

This story continues where the third left off and continues the Spy Girl journey while she is navigating a whole new territory - loving someone...two someones rather- her brother and The King/Lorenzo. On top of this new territory, she is continuing to track down the possible assailants on Montrovia and so much more.

This series has you on the edge trying to figure out the clues and just when you think you have it, you don't. I loved the flashbacks into her history regarding the things her mom and her did. It showed how ingrained she is with her training even from a young age. Huntley's heart is her downfall as a spy though. Huntley's emotions are a huge factor in this story and all you can think is that she better reign it in before she can't do her mission. You get that into the story!

I highly recommend this series! It is my favorite of Jillian's, which makes me sad to say because I love The Keatyn Chronicles and Love series, and That Boy series......well, I just love her writing. Lol.

I finished this book a couple days ago and have been trying to find the right words to describe how I feel. This will be a spoiler free review. I was gifted an ARC by Jillian and I was speechless after I was done reading. I have been in a book funk lately and was worried I wouldn't want to read this book even though I have yet to be disappointed in of her books. I was worried that I wouldn't be engaged with this book. Boy, am I glad that I was wrong! The Third Book, The Society left a HUGE cliff hanger and this book was picked right back up. While reading the Valiant, I have even MORE QUESTIONS NOW! I am in LOVE with the details to this as well as all the beautiful places the characters visit! I have an itch to travel the world and right now, I am living vicariously through this book. I was so engulfed with each and every word that I didn't want to put this book down. When I got to the last page, I was sad. I wanted more! I can't wait to see where this story goes and hopefully get my questions all answered! I love love love this book!

>Book Review – The Valiant
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 4th in the Spy Girl series and ends in a cliffhanger. Huntley and Lorenzo have declared their love for each other. Lorenzo is on a time constraint. He must get engaged by a certain date or risk an arranged marriage to someone other than Huntley. Huntley is exhausting in her deciphering of her feelings for Lorenzo. She is still very flirty to every male. She also second guesses her feelings constantly. It feels like she is just looking for a reason to have her relationship fail.
>The assassin, The Priest, goes from foe to friend. Lorenzo ends up caring for The Priest’s son and Huntley has The Priest working with her to trace the money back to the source of the hit. This book has exciting chases and a lot more backstory in the form of Huntley’s memories returning.
>This story is appropriate for a new adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I didn’t understand why an erroneous announcement at the end of the story would cause Huntley to throw in the towel so quickly.

Jillian has done it again, what a book.

The Valiant was captivating and had me hooked from the start. I’ve never really been into the spy sort of books but these are written so well that you can’t help but be made to feel part of the story and you just get taken on one hell of a ride.

I don’t want to give anything away as the last booked left you on the biggest cliffhanger, this one too but the so much happens and have been left with more questions. The character development was brilliant, you get to know more of the background colleagues but you’re still unsure of who you can trust and what truths you’re being told… it’s completely mesmerising.

Jillian must do some major research for the Spy Girl series, not at any point do you feel like you’re being fobbed off. The way it’s written makes you feel like you’re there seeing what they’re seeing and your where they are.

I’m desperate for the next installment, so you will find me rocking in a corner somewhere until it comes out.

Cannot recommend this series enough! Amazing books!!

For the love of god.... I think that if I roll my eyes harder they will get stuck in the back of my head. Our King is downright annoying at this point. His mother.... riiiiight..... Our Spy.... remember her age here people.... Where the hell is her amazing brother/ Daniel is the only thing good about this however he is downright I wanna smack you because for real let the poor girl make her own damn decisions dude....
I have not been super happy with this series... there have been WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE INTRODUCED. I feel like I need a whiteboard. They have been talking about this board meeting for what seems like 3 books now.... for real. I mean it might not be that long but it seems like that when this story just doesnt seem to be moving...
However I will finish this series, because I always finish a series....
