This is a great book for an overview of massage. You have more than a little of everything you need in here. Of course you still need an instructor to teach you the techniques and such, but anything you can learn from a book about massage, this book has.
This book is divided into 2 parts: Unit 1 and Unit 2.
Unit 2 is anatomy and physiology. I read Lisa Archer's book for anatomy and physiology, but used pathology in this unit.
Unit 1 covers all the other foundational topics as tested in state licensure exams: Ethics, Client Assessment, Business, classic massage skills (well illustrated, akin to Tappan's textbk), body mechanics, Standards of Care and Hygiene. more! Everything
I am very curious about massage therapy, and now reading this book. And I find this book so helpful. The massage principles are those I already have known, but the practice is fresh content. I keep reading this book.
A book about everything and nothing. So, incomplete. Not current. Dry. And, with significant errors--not just grammatical. Apparently, little care was taken in developing, writing, and publishing. So, the content shouldn't even be trusted. Generally, I'd say, find what you need elsewhere.
