This didn't catch me as much as the first in the trilogy did and I don't think I'll read the third. Shame but I thought the second would be a follow up to the first book and not a new story with some of the same participants

The second in the trilogy this book did not disappoint. Set in the present day following the first book set in 1997, we follow Sarah Jane zdanski again plus multiple other characters.

With Shocking twists as the chapters unfold and events we can all relate to in present times, the footage that shook America really is worth the read

This was #2 in The American Trilogy, and was very entertaining - though not quite the page turner as the first in the trilogy. The ending was strong and helped push this from a 3 to a 4 for me.

Taking "Likes" too far!

We all have friends who will boast about how many Likes a post got, but to arrange the killing of an innocent person is taking it easy too far! I was surprised as usual with the final twist, but after some thought was just saddened by it

The second in the “Sarah-Jane Zdanski” trilogy, and another excellent read.

I love the way these novels unfold. The story being told via focusing on different characters with no idea on how their paths will link, and with little idea where the story is heading. You just feel the suspense and tension building, and you enjoy the ride. I did recall from book 1 that the time lines may not be concurrent – but it didn’t help me picking where we were heading.

Some shocking reveals as the story draws to its conclusion. I won’t say any more for fear of plot spoiling, except to say it’s not a feel good ending !

I am loving these books! Such a sharp look on America, power struggle, media, social class, racism, prejudice, and so so much more. Told "straight to the point" without any "boring" or unnecessarily explaining and descriptions. I generally enjoy multiple POVs and thismos bo exception, it's among the better executed ones. I also appreciate the intertwined plots that are so unpredictable and thrilling! I also enjoyed how som many real.people and event are included in a natural and believable way

Finally an author that manages to create something that feels authentic and raw, original and also realistic - with a synical view on today's America.

Interesting book. Once again an interesting take on media today and who influences and controls the narrative. Sara Jane is back 25 years after we left her in the first book. Still at CSN but loosing viewers. What will she do with the video that falls into her lap. Can she make a comeback using it. Told from numerous points of view like the first book it is difficult to know what is now and what was then. Lots of twist and turns for sure.

Brilliantly written story based on current events and the media coverage we see.

I did not pay attention to the fact this story is a trilogy - I'm so glad - starting book 3 immediately. You just get so involved in the characters - they are so skillfully brought into the story. I was drawn into these books because of what we see and hear from the media today...ratings, sensationalism and lies and how we have become accustomed to it - even crave it.

This book is brilliantly written leaving the reader aghast at the last of the many reveals offered throughout each chapter and character. And there are many characters, none of whom can claim that particular virtue. I am trying to describe the indescribable. It is a must read if your favorite go to phrase is WTF!!!!!

Again,Amazing

David Lyons is my favorite author and all his books are spellbinding. I want to skip pages, not because like a lot of books it is boring, but because the suspense is almost unbearable. Knowing that the stories he writes about are true, makes it more intriguing.
Wish I knew what the Governor has done but other than that it was perfect.

CAPTIVATING

Typically, I do not read trilogy series novels, however, yesterday I had finished David Lyons’ “In the Middle of Middle America (The American Trilogy Book 1), which had gripped me. I had to see of Book 2 was just as intriguing, and YES IT WAS!!! I finished it today and will go on to read the book 3.

Annoying book to read. A handful of key characters have short paragraphs through the book with absolutely no connection until the last 50 pages or so. Some story lines are incredibly boring and repetitive.

The ending, making the connections, is very good however. Didn’t see the resolution coming. That being said, it wasn’t enjoyable reading.

Another fabulous book with a twist I never saw coming. I have read every book by this author and each one has stayed with me for days and this one was no different. I will be patiently waiting for the next book.

a bit Enid Blyton

This is a fast paced book with a fairly simple twist. I read it in a day and enjoyed it. Very light reading.

Loved this storyline, and became much more engaged with the key players than I was in book one. The america trilogy is a slow burn but I’m glad I stuck with it.

The second book in a trilogy and still very good and shocking, but not as good as the first. The shocking twist was kinda telegraphed.

A twist like I have never read before

I'm still reeling from the ending of this, I honestly did not see that twist coming. Like the first novel in the trilogy we follow seemingly disparate characters and you wonder where this is all leading to. Then suddenly everything comes together.

Personal notes, not a review

Enjoyed the book, the style of writing through characters, so able to fly through it. Premise of the story and the power of the media is great and very current, but even though 4 stars, I found it stretched reality just a little - and that an officer, albeit already corrupt, could be so easily manipulated, and that furthermore someone was there to record the incident.

There was a fact statement at the close of the book that didn’t sit right with me either, when connected back to the plot and story…..
