GREAT Police Procedural

First I hate when reviewers rewrite the entire book. But I’ll give you a quick rundown of the book. Chicago police detective Ross McGuire lost his fiancée to a serial killer, he moves from Chicago to a small town outside of Indianapolis. The killer isn’t done with Ross and the killer follows him to Brownsburg Indiana.
In Brownsburg, Ross meets Jae Redman and her K-9 partner Zoso. Jae is very recently divorced with an toddler named Billy.
The story written by Beth Crawford is extremely well written and it had me burning the midnight oil. Ross as a character has completely shut down since his fiancée murder. He was shut out of the investigation in which he had been the primary detective, which drove the characters life for four years.

Jae Redman K-9 patrol officer is a young mother raising her toddler son Billy. Jae’s character is a no nonsense type of gal. Her entire family unit is real and delightful to read. She has a great relationship with her K-9 Zoso and he is an older brother to Billy. I loved Billy as he was written by a author who obviously has been around kids, as he was so real. Which a lot of kids in books, especially toddler, aren’t always written correctly.
There is a tiny romance between Ross and Jae, it’s doesn’t over shadow the police procedural part. The author had me guess who the killer really was through all the lies and deceit. There is no sex in the book, but Jae and Ross do become a team like Eve and Roark from J.D. Robb’s In Death series as they have each other’s backs during the investigation into the murders in Brownsburg Indiana.
Loved the book and will be reading more from this author! If you love mystery, psychological thrillers, pick up this well crafted book!!
