This is yet another great series of books from Daniel, We find a old battleship now used as a tourist attraction. But it is the only think that stand in the way of an alien invasion. The Admiralty are missing it's Christmas day, and no one wants to listen. But Commander King was taking no chances and places Freedom on a war setting so without fanfare Earth was at war!
This saga follows the Starship Freedom, once a relic turned into a museum and now Earth’s last hope. Freedom is the flagship dreadnought in a war against the spider-race Rahs, who view humans as food. Defeat seems inevitable until Admiral King’s troops figure out a way to open a portal through space. If they can contact the only beings known to have quelled the Rahs, they might have a chance of survival. Heavy action sequences alternate with quieter moments as each main character has their spot in the limelight. While sometimes too graphic, this series shows the horror of encountering a hostile species with technology superior to ours. Earth’s resources should be protected instead of ravaged, or aliens may view our conflicts as weakness and attack like the Rahs.
If you have a fear of spiders so not read this series!!!!!
I didn’t know before I started this that the ‘aliens’ were spiders, I had read a review elsewhere before reading this that it had some gore and horror but no mention of darn spiders!
Other than the spiders the series is really good, good characters you can easily root for, edge of your seat situations, well written and kept me up until early hours reading wanting to read more.
A powerful, phenomenal series, full of thrilling action, edge of seat and nerve wracking scenarios. Wonderful lovable characters and equally horrendous villains. A very imaginative and creative world building. I highly recommend this fantastic series!
The saga continues The Freedom meets the next incarnation of the Rahs an alien race intent on earths destruction, fast and furious nail biting action, well worth the read , story line good, characters good all in all highly recommended by me
Good series but once again get fooled into getting 4 more books. I'm tired of these endless series. If you say its four books then THAT should be the END of it.
An easy read, likeable characters. Some characters badly typecast, Darjeeling, the princess. However some refreshing upsets, that it didn't go the way they wanted. A little repetitious on past events with individuals, maybe not so much if read in isolation.
