KYLE AND LEAH
The story will involve a group of people who work for Alpha Securities (AS). The agents are a relatively tight-knit group involving many family members, prior military service, and forensic training. The two main characters are Kyle Davenport and Leah Matthews. They are not strangers just working together; they have known each other since they were children. Now, they are both members of Alpha Securities—Kyle, a field agent, and Leah, a forensic scientist.
The story covers the AS agency and its team working on crimes. Someone is targeting them and their agents. One has gone rogue, but he is working on a mystery. Several have avoided each other, only being life-long friends, but that will change.
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly. It is an action-adventure-turned romance tale with mystery, suspense, secrets, deceit, and more. Kyle has avoided a relationship with Leah since she is his best friend’s sister, but that will change. Together, a small group of agents will work to solve the mystery of who is causing issues with dirty agents and secrets.
I’ll be honest, the book had potential but missed the mark for me. It’s not a bad story, just not a great one. It was easy to put this book down and do other things. I felt the relationship had over-the-top discipline—insert multiple eye rolls. How many times can the same person get kidnapped and escape? Survive life and death situations? Getting disciplined for escaping dangerous men? I wouldn’t say I liked Kyle’s character, and for Leah to be so intelligent, she makes many stupid decisions. Fiction needs a believability factor, no matter the genre, and this one just had me shaking my head at what happens. It was unrealistic, had no natural chemistry, and ended with a segue into another book or a cliffhanger.
