Six Shooter and a Shifter #3

When the Lightning Strikes

Rate this book
I need more magic like I need a point-blank bullet to the head.

All that dragon power Rhett’s already given me is churning around inside me, causing as much trouble as the great poohbah dragon protector himself, and he’s trouble walking in a pair of perfectly fitting jeans.

Regardless of my desires, and I’ve got lots of them thanks to the two men who won’t stop shooting suggestive looks my way, more magic is exactly what I’ve got—plus a whole band of dragon shifters without it, heh, pointing fingers at me for taking what they think is theirs. Oopsie.

Still, no matter the hissy fits they throw, finders keepers, losers weepers applies extra when it comes to power. Especially since I’ve got no idea how to give any of it back—or how to properly use it either, for that matter. And that’s before Zeke wants to share some of his magic with me...

Oy. These men are intent on driving me batty.

Life in Traitor’s Den, usually crazy enough to keep me on my toes, has never seemed quite so over-the-top outrageous. Denners and our unexpected guests are keeping me busier than a cat on a hot tin roof. When you add in all the resurrections, well, bring on the extra nuttiness.

But when saving my best friend Birdie’s life involves her kissing Zeke, my quasi-vampire, my man, I wholly embrace the unofficial motto of Traitor’s Den: “Behaving is for losers.”

Honey, I ain’t no loser.

Armed with my girls Big Bertha and Big Wilma, the best six shooters a woman could ask for, I’m off to protect what’s mine.

Now, if only that list weren’t growing...

* A sexy fantasy western with growly shifters, sketchy vamps, peculiar mages and creatures, and one badass cowgirl sheriff. Within this small town, magic and gossip flow as freely as whiskey, and work and pleasure are nearly the same thing. Weird things happen on the regular in Traitor's Den. Come and join the quirky family, where everyone's packing. Oh, and don't mind the tiger.

* Loretta Maybelle Ray is hot stuff. When several fine cowboys vie for her affections, this series becomes a reverse harem.

* Though this series does not contain curse words, but rather a comical variation of them, it contains slow-burn romance that eventually leads to sex on the page with more than one man.

* Each book in the Six Shooter and a Shifter series is a full-length novel that ends on a cliffhanger. However, a happily-ever-after is guaranteed for the series finale.

loved this series

This series is awesome. Each book ends with a cliffhanger but I don’t mind because they’re so well written. The characters are awesome and their old timey talk is hilarious. I am loving 5is series and everyone should start reading it. I recommend it completely.

This series is simply cray cray and I absolutely love it! A sexy, magical and totally wild western ride that once you jump on you never want to get off! Loretta is such a fantastic character, she’s strong, she’s exciting and she has me in absolute stitches and the town of Traitors Den is the perfect place for her to be. Entertaining, hilarious, the twists and turns and surprises all keep you hooked whilst you try and keep up with who is who on this crazy rollercoaster ride.

This series Is the sexy, magical western romp I didn’t know I needed in my life. Each book just keeps blowing me away. I laughed my way through so much of this book and I am totally hooked on the shenanigans that Loretta’s Denners keep getting into. I was astounded that this book essentially took place over the course of just over 24 hours and yet it felt like so much more. Again, Ashta managed to take the stakes up a notch and keep me totally on the edge of my seat. I CANNOT wait for more!!

I was so excited to hop back on the crazy train to the Wild West in When the Lightning Strikes, book three in Lucia Ashta’s amazing Six Shooter and a Shifter series. This series is a paranormal, slow burn reverse harem romance set in an almost comical rendition of a Western town complete with cowboys, a saloon and a sheriff. One of the things that makes this series so hilarious is the corny western way the members of the town are forced to speak, a condition of the pocket dimension the town exists in, and the fact that they cannot swear and so the creative approximations that come out instead.

When Lightning Strikes takes off from the cliff that we were left at the end of book two. Loretta holding a baby dragon, a sloth, pumped up on whole heap of power that is not quite stable and grieving her bestie. Middle books in a series are often a difficult one as the author is trying to keep the plot moving without losing the reader’s interest. Lucia Ashta makes this look effortless. This book has a massive twist that creates havoc, laughs and the madness for which this series is becoming known. The characters are brilliantly written and I am loving that we are coming to know more and more about them as the series unfolds.

When Lighting Strikes is the latest book in a wonderful paranormal romance series full of magic, action and chemistry. If you are looking for a book unlike any you’ve read before and are ready for a laugh then do I have a series for you.

Denners stick together and all work together to help the others, even if some need a little more persuasion to help than others....
When Birdie is bought back to life, Zeke has to kiss her to infuse some of his 'vampire powers' to allow the resurrection to stick. While Loretta is glad to have her bestie back certain base emotions take over causing her to knock Birdie out of the way and take over kissing Zeke herself. Queue Cookie attacking Loretta and a whole lotta body-switching shenanigans begin.

If you are looking for a read that will have you laughing till your sides hurt then this is the book for you. As an added bonus there is also plenty of sass and steam to go round.

This whole series is kinda out of left field bizarre, it's not like anything I've read before. Where book 1 & 2 held my attention enough to finish to move on to book 3. But this book (3) was just dragging along, making me regret reading this series as a whole. There was too much drag in the action, with too much "stupid western slang" that being in the town caused by the magic- filling in pages of too much un-needed dialogue that dragged the story down. I kept looking to see how far I was, hoping I was close to done! I definitely won't be moving on to book 4 when it releases.

When The Lightning Strikes by Lucia Ashta is Book 3 in the Six Shooter and a Shifter series. This is a very funny and entertaining series. The world building is excellent and the storyline unique. Not being able to use swear words makes for some out loud laughing moments. Looking forward to see what Loretta names the baby dragon as according to Rhett she's not supposed to. This is a series to read to put a smile on your face. Really excited to see what Loretta and the Dinners are in for in the next book. Highly recommended series. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.

I voluntarily review an ARC. This is the third part of the Six Shooter and a Shifter series, the books should be read in order.
When the lightning strikes it strikes out of this book right into our minds. I was blown away by this mothertucking rollercoaster ride. Fans of this author already know to prepare for a healthy dose of crazy. But let's be honest: There's no way to foresee that kind of twists and turns.
So just buckle up and enjoy. Yeehaw!

What a Hoot!!

This series is so much fun to read! So many great characters, a dialogue that will have you laughing out loud and so many unanswered questions that you will want to scream...... "I need the next adventure NOW!". If you couldn't tell, I am really looking forward to the next mayhem to happen😁 This wonderfully crazy series is worth the read. 4.5 stars, only because I was sad about Tiger! You will have to read to understand, so get to reading!😉

I thoroughly enjoyed this romp into Traitor's Den. My only complaint was that it was just, way too short. I love Denners and how they make the best of a crazy situation! Including their flippin' loss of the f-bomb and creative work arounds.

The Dragon shifters definitely added some much needed spark to the story and I can't wait to see how Loretta solves the next bit of crazy that is thrown her way.

These books are so much fun! This book brings so much more to Traitors Den. There’s so much revealed in this story as well as some laugh out loud moments that will have you in stitches. With a hunky vamp and shifter, Loretta has her hands full. Now she’s saving her bestie, defending the town and trying to not die from all the magic in her system. I mean what else can happen! So much! Narrators nailed it! Just nailed it.

I’ve seen some who don’t like this sense of humor but I really enjoy these books. The western humor makes me laugh, I think you should try out the books because you will enjoy them. Some of the one liners have me laughing while reading a book when you really just want to relax while you reading. I’m waiting for book 4🤣

Im truly loving these characters. Lucia had me hooked With When the Moon Shines and each book gets better and better. I never thought i would love a Western type book as much as i love this series. Loretta and her six shooters Big Bertha and Big Wilma, along with Rhett and Zeke and Tiger and the supporting cast just leave me wanting more.

Cliffhanger gimmick

Characters and storyline are original and funny, but I resent when authors stoop to manipulating their readers with "read the next book " as an ending. Does she think so poorly of her skills that she has to cheat people into getting the next chapter? I'll finish the series and blacklist whatever else she writes.

The number of plot holes and inconsistencies are growing exponentially from book to book in this series. The cowboyisms also get old pretty quick. This book takes place over less than a day, and it's drawn out using silly plot devices that just make the characters all seem TSTL. the series started fun, but I'm definitely done at this point.

oof.

Definitely did not enjoy this book like the others. I appreciated the plot points that kept the story moving forward but the main storyline in this one sucked. It felt like one of those books that could have been added to other ones and the story would have flowed better and wouldn’t have to be so many books.

dizzy read

I’m falling from a dizzying height as the storyline leapt from one section to another. Characters zapping and zipping around like a speeding train. Another classic example of a cliffhanger ending leaving a reader gobsmacked. Highly recommended read for fans of Lucia and other fantasy writers

Love this series Lucia Ashta is an amazingly descriptive writer. I’m a nerd and have read thousands of books and lately want more of this type. If you want a really good belly laugh this series is for you. Different creatures from witches to dragons to family and the creative language is better than any swear words you can think off.

Lucia just makes me laugh. Her mind goes 100 different directions and it just works. Yet another episode of the life of Loretta and the town of Traitors Den. The crazy way they talk, the lack of curse words and the sexual innuendos keep me turning the pages…. Ready for book four!!!!!!
