Rise of the Weakest Summoner #5

Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume V

Rate this book
Finally resolving the conflict none of them expected to take part in, Asterios and his companions continue their journey to discover more about his past and his unusual power. The Demon Continent definitely holds at least some answers to their troubles, as long as they can find Grea's father and convince him to aid them. Alongside their newly gained ally, they press on...

During their travels through the ancestral land of demons, Asterios and his team might uncover more secrets than they have bargained for. The Demon Continent is a very mystical land, shrouded in mystery in more than one meaning of that word. But, with the help of a new summon and a friend, they are going to take all the challenges head-on.

Besides, they don't have time to waste. A certain important ceremony draws near.

This story includes:
Mystery of the past looming in the background. Sudden strength gain with progressive development. Mild romance with a shy but strong girl, a mischievous refined lady, and a very determined colleague. Caring and devoted protagonist, albeit serious and decisive when confronted. Slowly developing unconventional relationships. Chill and quite relaxed adventure story with a pinch of unabridged intimate situations.

I’ve enjoyed this unusual epic fantasy so far, but I had some doubts halfway through this book. There is a lot going on, but much of it was pretty random, it felt like the author collected all the ideas left over from the previous books and tried to use them all in this one. Eventually it starts to make some sense, but I must admit I skipped through a few big chunks.
Also there were times when the story seemed to be more in tune with the daydreams of a sexually frustrated teenager.
Overall it was still a decent story and I have given it three stars.

Introduction:
Greetings, fellow beings from the vast universe. I am Kiba Snowpaw, an Alpha Ice Wolf from the frozen world of HowlStrom, where the magic of ice runs through our veins. With over 36 years of life experience and a lifetime of gaming, I bring forth my review of "Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume V" by J.R. Saileri. As the snow blankets my homeland, so does this tale envelop its readers in a chilling embrace of drama, action, and furry intrigue.

Basic Plot Summary:
Asterios and his companions, after resolving an unexpected conflict, journey forth to the Demon Continent, seeking answers about Asterios's past and the source of his unique power. As they delve deeper into this mystical land, they uncover secrets that might be more than they bargained for. With time running out and an important ceremony approaching, the stakes have never been higher.

Analysis/Evaluation:
Saileri's storytelling prowess is evident in this volume. The narrative is a masterful blend of drama, action, and mystery, with a furry twist that adds depth and uniqueness. The pacing is impeccable, with each chapter building upon the last, leading the reader on a rollercoaster of emotions.

Characters:
Asterios continues to evolve as a protagonist, showcasing both strength and vulnerability. His companions, each with their distinct personalities and backgrounds, add layers to the story, making it rich and multidimensional. The introduction of new characters and the deepening of existing relationships add a layer of complexity that is both intriguing and heartwarming.

Structure:
The structure of the book is well-crafted, with a balance of action, dialogue, and introspection. The transitions between scenes are smooth, and the world-building is detailed, immersing the reader in the universe Saileri has created.

Impact:
This volume left a profound impact on me. The challenges faced by the characters, their growth, and the revelations about Asterios's past resonated deeply, making me reflect on my own journey and the mysteries of HowlStrom.

Hook and Thesis:
From the very beginning, the story hooks the reader with its promise of adventure and discovery. The underlying thesis revolves around the quest for identity, the bonds of friendship, and the courage to face one's past.

Praise and Critique:
I laud Saileri for crafting a tale that is both engaging and thought-provoking. The furry elements are seamlessly integrated, adding a unique flavor to the narrative. However, I yearn for even more exploration of the furry culture and its intricacies in the subsequent volumes.

Evaluation:
"Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume V" is a masterpiece in the realm of furry literature. It is a testament to Saileri's talent and creativity. The book is a must-read for those seeking a blend of action, drama, and furry lore.

Comparison:
While there are many tales in the furry universe, few match the depth and complexity of this series. It stands tall, reminiscent of the towering ice peaks of HowlStrom, unique in its brilliance.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, "Rise of the Weakest Summoner: Volume V" is a gem that shines brightly in the vast expanse of literature. It is a tale that will resonate with readers long after the final page is turned. As the Alpha Ice Wolf of HowlStrom, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to all who seek a journey filled with adventure, drama, and furry magic.

May the frosty winds of HowlStrom guide your path.

Well, let’s see….where to start… okays, let’s get some things out of the way… politics should never force its way into books. Being conservative I still believe people should be happy when it comes to certain things. I won’t get into a full array of things in this review. We’ve already been hit constantly upon the head about gender, gender, gender when it comes to umbra, hydran and now Changlings. I had no worries nor did I care about this…. Again, granted that it’s mentioned A LOT…. But now Bryn comes into play and we have transexual angels that not only can nurse a child but can give birth as well. Saileri, you’re taking it too far with your political views. I can overlook this because I fell in love with this series and this authors writing and I am simply floored by the sheer excellence Saileri brings with his books… but if further “people’s” and books continue to press political issues like this I will drop this author like a bad habit with deep regrets because he’s amazingly talented. Sure, I’m just one fan so maybe this won’t matter and he won’t care… but I won’t be the only one. Trust me on this. I also love to write reviews and promote brilliant authors and those books that aren’t so stellar. So regardless if this review vanishes from this platform it will appear elsewhere. Because let’s face it. Censorship is very real and once you have a difference of opinion people try and shut you down. I like to read books to escape, I don’t want to go to my pleasurable world and stumble into things that are plaguing the “real world” with its drama and issues. Now, with that out of the way the rest of the book was excellent. I loved that Tina got her moment, I see that Welrond has ideas for Silvia 🤫🤭 and I’m thinking she might be on board with those ideas… also, I think Grea might be in for a interesting surprise… I’m still wondering if Bryn and Suanori will join the ranks of his mates…not just the “team” but the “TEAM” 😆😘. But who knows? One thing is for sure, I hope the next book isn’t the last… there’s no way we can wrap this up in one book. It will seem rushed. So please continue this amazing series but also please take it easy with the politics. I’m so very excited about the next book, I hope this series gets 20 more books. Onward lads!

At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review

Genre: Fantasy harem summoner OP MC

Power dynamics in harem: Girls adore and serve the MC their summoner
Explicit/adult material: Explicit.

Summary:
Asterios finally arrived at the demon continent and now has a chance to get the help to work with the seal in his head and start unlocking the secrets of his past.

Narrators
Voice diversity: Very well done. Characters voices have their personality shine through.
Pacing and intonation: Well done. The action, the romance and the explicit scenes are all told in a way that keeps the listener engaged and brings the world alive.
Sex scenes: Very well done.
Overall: 5 / 5 stars.

The book’s strengths.
- The writing is fun and the world is deep.
- Once again the group is not fighting alone but has some temporary allies at their side. This time an old friend and it is fun to see how she fits into the group dynamics.
- The girls are interesting and cute. And I love Umbrah and his role in the group. New girl still has some room to grow, but it was great to have Tina join.
- The narration. It is really great.

The book’s weaknesses.
- Maybe the power creep? The MC is getting OP and fast. But it works for me.

Overall: 4.5/5 stars
One of the best harem series I have read, and this book is no different

still going strong

Still enjoying this story very much as Ast continues to investigate who he is. At this stage he is fairly sure of what he is, and possibly who his biological parents are, but this is still to be confirmed. The trip to the Demon Continent seems mostly completed with just a few bits left to tidy up. He continues to build in strength and ability and has increased the number of ladies around himself again. This book has more of a puzzle/trial solving feel to it rather than previous books where it’s mostly been monster and dungeon fighting. A fun read with lots of loving affection on display.

Challenges for the NOT Weakest Summoner

It's difficult to grow up and have no memories of who you are. You get found by and raised by a stranger that saves you from a village fire, but you love your Adopted mother with all your heart. Yet, you are becoming more than human.
This story is about discovery to find someone to remove a seal in the MS's brain that locks away who and what he is.

Another well written story with adventures, challenges and sex with beautiful women in his ever growing harem.

The world itself is fun and lively, the story is grand and feels organic as the scope expands.
Especially during this volume I have begun to associate the feeling that this series reminds me more and more of a roleplaying game’s campaign, the way that information is dropped and the characters move from problem to problem.

The intimate scenes continue to feel like too much to me, personally. They feel as though the descriptions are all ‘sex-focused’ instead of finding a way to keep a subtle flow of being ‘sexy’ through these encounters.

Had to happen

This is really more of a character development book. As happens in any good long running story the characters have to solidify a backstory, alliances and develop future plot lines. For the Weakest Summoner this book fills that roll. Took me longer to read because I was never caught up in the action but its essential to the story line and worth the investment of time to read the whole thing.

another great read

I am really enjoying this series… They are binging all five or six in a row is a lot… I’m still enjoying it. That just proves how good the story is. It’s not repetitive and the same story over and over again so there are elements that are similar. It still is interesting and you have things to look forward to and you love the characters. Can’t wait to see what happens in volume six

Still enjoying the series

I'm still thoroughly enjoying the series this book was no different. Each book seems to have a singular focus with only nudging the greater story arc along. This is as it should be as it keeps the books from getting to muddled. Our Weakest MC Seems to be learning more and more about his bloodline. Truly fund. I wonder if the other side of his bloodline has any hidden attributes. Looking forward to the next book.

It might be because I listened to books 1-4 before starting this one but I was worn out by something. I can't quite put my finger on it. I enjoy the power fantasy but this never exercised that power. The MC had so many power reveals without any strife or story. Everything was already in place for each step of the journey. Connect the dots is only so much fun.

I'm highly enjoying this series. I hope that the harem doesn't get too large like some authors make them. The focus and growth on current characters is much more enjoyable. 3 in the harem after 5 volumes is great considering I've seen 6 or 7 girls in harem by this point in other series. Quality over quantity

Still a great read….

I enjoyed book 5 in the continuing saga of Asteros and his harem. I can picture this as a manga or anime for sure. Enjoying all the new characters and older characters, altho I am steadily started to be annoyed with Mirai. Like the angel woman, Bryn. Can’t wait for new summons. Or when he gets hooked up with the princess! On to book 6!

Still going strong

More mysteries of Ast's draconic lineage to be solved while the team rubs elbows with the leaders of different species. They are all still growing in power as the harem also gains new prospective members.

decent follow up

Advances the story well and we learn more about Asterio’s parents. Should have been longer as much of the story shifted POV among the characters.
