Fireman Daddy

Rate this book
'Newly out of the closet gay boy seeks daddy for fun and kinky times' isn't something Sean ever thought he'd fess up to.

And yet, here he is, on a kinky website chatting up a sexy, daddy-dom, fireman from across the country and planning how to meet and play IRL.

Yes, that’s right. A fireman. Which means heroism and bravery… and muscles, maybe even covered in soot and sexy sweat.

The only question is will Sean's keyboard melt before his daddy can put out the fire?

This is a stand-alone novel about kinky boys finding their Forever Daddy who will give them love and satisfy their unique lusts.

High heat level, kinky goodness, dollification and HEA guaranteed!

Please know that while this is a stand-alone book, Sean is first introduced in His Sex Therapist. Additionally, this book was previously published and titled His Online Daddy.

This was so close to being 5 stars for me. I don't know what it is about Jamie Kassel's writing, because on paper this should not appeal - I don't do religious trauma or struggling with being deep in the closet and internalised homophobia. But those needy, needy boys and their Daddies? They get me every time.

The spice in this was, as always, fantastic. Jamie Kassel knows how to write men with filthy mouths. In every Jamie Kassel book I've read the bottoms and clingy, needy messes (both figuratively and very, very literally) and the Tops are affectionate sensual men with Presence who know when to push and when to cuddle. And everyone is totally codependent and I love it.

In this one we don't just get Daddy/boy, we get Daddy/doll and even a (very brief) foray into Master/slave. It starts long distance with some brilliant sexting and phone sex, and then we get a long in person scene about midway through, followed up by mostly in person stuff - some of it a bit glossed over but some of it in detail, and some emotional romance too!

Jamie does sometimes start her books with one of the men in an MF couple and that's the case here - essentially a "beard" situation. Once he starts exploring his identity things very quickly end but there is a small section which could be considered emotionally cheating so please be aware.

Why does this fall at the final hurdle for me? Two reasons really:

I'd have liked a lot more of Max and Sean as a couple exploring their dynamic once Sean gets past his hang ups, as most of the book is really him dealing with his internalised homophobia (thanks to his awful parents, beware religious abuse and conversion camp mentions). At 25% through that's where I thought the book was going and I was really excited to see them properly explore, but we never really got there.

And this one is very specific - we start off with Sean's number one fantasy of being rescued and then overpowered by a hunky fireman. And wouldn't you know? His Daddy is a fireman. I was REALLY hoping for some helpless/can't help but take you CNC play based on the very detailed fantasy we were given, but that's not where it went at all! Instead the fantasy was used for an emotional moment at the end, not involving spice.

But overall this was a great read and given what a bad book slump I've been in, the fact I woke up today excited to keep reading it says a lot about how much I enjoyed it.

This could've been so good. A promising premise and rly hot phone sex and online chats. I liked the way Max coaxed Sean out of the closet and made him feel wanted, but when they met in person, it suddenly felt like reading about two different people. The dialogue often didn't make sense and try as I might've, I couldn't get back into the story. Def could use some more editing too

Sean is on a kinky website chatting up a sexy daddy-dom fireman who is across the country while trying to understand all about his sexuality and what suits him best. Can they meet in real life and explore things further? After all his sexy fireman has heroism, bravery and a hot body on his side. The question is will Sean's keyboard melt before his daddy can put out the fire?

I enjoyed this story although it certainly was very kinky in places. I loved Sean and his devotion to his Daddy and how patient Max was with Sean when other romantic partners would have bailed and moved on. Easy to read and understand, please make sure you read any warnings first. This is an MM story with mature content and a BSDM-like DDLB dynamic.

** Please know that while this is a stand-alone book, Sean is first introduced in His Sex Therapist. Additionally, this book was previously published and titled His Online Daddy.

3.5-4 stars, can't decide??

thoughts n feelings:
-I read this bc the MC (Sean) is featured in one of JK's other books as a side character and it really made me wanna read his story. I liked this but I do have to say it is DEEPLY similar to the book he's from originally (His Sex Therapist is the title, unfortunately) -- while there are a couple of slightly different kinks explored here than in HST (plus no ageplay, thank god...no hate but that is NOT for me), the dynamic is very very similar, down to the way they speak to each other.
-needs more editing, same as HST -- author sometimes uses the wrong name for the MCs, like getting them mixed up, so it can be hard to tell who is talking, and there are a few plotholes that I think could've been resolved with like, an extra sentence here and there for clarification
-overall it was pretty cute and I liked it, idk I just felt like it was missing something maybe???

4.5 stars. Kassel writes the kind of kinky shit that I absolutely love. This was a lot of fun and a whirlwind of a journey for Sean. I loved that he and Max’s relationship started out online and when they met it was hot and heavy from there. Max is so patient and dominant with Sean and Sean just melts every time. It was hot but also really sweet.

I read the majority of this series and I guess I’m not a third person POV girly. I skimmed the majority of this book just to see how it ended. The whole plot was underwhelming.
