WHOSOEVER HOLDS THIS HAMMER… …if they be worthy, shall possess the power of…THOR. And what if…the Miles Morales of another universe was THOR, THE GOD OF THUNDER?!
Yehudi Mercado is a former pizza delivery driver and art director for Disney Interactive. He is currently a writer-artist-director living in Los Angeles by way of Austin Texas.
This book was controversial - I want to talk about diversity in comics. There is a kind of 'dammed if you do, dammed if you don't' trend going on; because for so long minorities have been neglected by comics. This has been going on for years; and it will not be solved with just a couple 'breakout' characters like Miles Morales (MM). 'Of all the five realms, Asgard is his hood' may be viewed by some as stereotyping - I do not think that Yehudi Mercado had that intent - but it just show how much work still needs to be done. Let me give you an example: a What If...? with MM as Black Panther (BP) could also be viewed as stereotyping: but a storyline that allowed MM to trace back his roots to Wakanda (and his relation to BP) could be done well by the right writer. Can see both sides of the argument here - read the issue for yourself.
This gave us "By Odin's fade." Let that sit in. Swish it around and let it marinate. And Odin doesn't have a fade in this comic either.
Overall, major cheesefest and stereotypical. Also, no thanks to those trash raps. Shame because the artwork was wonderful and this iteration's Loki looked beyond sharp.
This is just boring, if there wasn’t controversy around the stereotypes this would be completely forgotten , though the worst of it is mostly at the start and takes a backseat to a generic Thor story, oh and once again Aaron's the villain for the 3rd time in this series.
