As one of the contributing authors for this collection, I wanted to note that my comments refer to the other stories, not my own. (I skipped right over mine while reading, actually)

This anthology is the perfect blend of whimsical and dramatic. Thrilling and magical. Each time I came to the end of a story, I found myself wishing there was more; I wasn’t quite ready to leave the worlds the authors had created just yet. And each time I came across the poetry I found myself pausing to take it in, enjoying the imagery that the poets created, akin to that of the short stories despite having far fewer words.

I am so grateful that my story shares the same space as these incredible pieces that kept me reading cover to cover in one sitting!

Anthologies are a bit hard to rate, so I’m approaching this by rating each part individually and adding it together. I’m not going to rate or discuss the poems because poetry isn’t my forte and I don’t have solid enough opinions on them.

The Girl Who Spoke to the Moon – 3/5. I didn’t feel like I got enough from the story to actually care about the MC who was unnamed. I can respect that choice, but since it was third person instead of first, it put some distance between me and the character.

Whispers From the Moon – 4/5. I liked the concept, the deal gone wrong, and the ending. I did find myself wondering about the mechanics of the world quite a bit though.

How Selly Met the Sun – 3.5/5. I liked the writing style and thought there was a good amount of world-building in a short time, but the plot was a little lackluster.

By the Moon’s Glow – 3.5/5. I liked the representation and the pronoun switch, but I was more interested in the story the witch told. I would have liked that to be more show than tell. Like, make it a full frame story where it begins with the MC going to the witch, then switch to the story of the two men in love, and then come back to the MC and the witch. But I guess since its an anthology, it has limited space, so I can understand the need to shorten the story.

Pira and Vila – 3/5. It had potential, but it didn’t really feel like a complete story, more like a prologue to something else. A lot of information was thrown at the reader that was never expanded upon.

Reverer of the Moon: 4/5. Interesting concept, but the names/titles kept tripping me up, especially reverer which was used a lot. I don’t know how I feel about the ending—it shocked me a little, but it was definitely unique.

Starheart” 4.5/5. Probably my favorite in the collection, it had some very interesting world-building, a hint of romance, and a cool twist. I wish the author would have spent a little bit more time on the ending, because I got a little bit of whiplash and thought it could have been better explained .

Overall Anthology Score: 3.5/5

What a magical anthology to be a part of. Each story or poem had an element that spoke to me, and I found myself taking my time and lingering over each piece. Well done, authors!
