I have been coaching for 42 years, and I find The Culture System to be one of the most impactful and practical books Ihave ever read. It has validated for me many things I have always believed in and done, and it has provided me with more ideas, resources, and examples of how to build a transformational culture.
I especially enjoy the use of real life examples of transformational culture--Messiah soccer comes to mind right away. To see how all this works in "real time" is very helpful. I also appreciate the continual emphasis on gratitude, accountability, and service. This gives a real foundation to JP's system.
Do not be fooled--to implement, live and coach this system is not easy and it requires strength and courage. However, as a longtime highschool and college coach I have found the benefits to be great. Thanks JP for giving us a recipe for building and sustaining culture.
an amazing book. It’s really opened my eyes to a different way to think about teams and culture
A great little book about Culture. I’m going to use it both for my basketball coaching, but also in my workplace.
It leads you in to each chapter with great examples of transformational culture from the world of sports, leading you into foundational knowledge for a particular aspect of culture. It also includes further links and information to help take your own education to the next level.
Highly recommend. Great book for connecting with athletes, building relationships, and establishing a transformational culture. The book covers a lot of ground, but always in a practical way. Every section had concepts I could put to use immediately, and I know I’ll return to The Culture System as a coaching resource.
Reading this book as a guide for coaching my first ultimate frisbee team, and it has provided an incredible amount of insight into how to plan and manage an intentional, focused team. Very excited to put these methods to work!
if you coach, are considering coaching or are part of a support system of coaches this is one of the best books Ive read when it comes to your role and impact as coach
