An enjoyable and interesting primer on the life of a comic book from conception to production, through the role of the editor. I enjoyed learning how much goes into it vs my past experiences editing university press books. The art was fun as well.

Required reading for anybody who wants to make a comic (be they writers, artists, editors, or publishers). Shelly shares decades of experience in a concise and understandable manner. And it will make you laugh to boot. I couldn't have hoped for more.

This is a fabulous book. Looking at what an editor does and how to work with the various collaborators. It is unique in the comics industry for it's simplicity and overall view. Yes, you can find other more academic text, but this is a stepping stone into comics.

Such a great overview of comic making from an editors standpoint. All the real world examples add so much authority to this great book.
