What a useful and practical book! Filled with nuggets of pure genius. A physician and crossfit owner team up to walk us through what it looks like to have a healthy lifestyle that translates to not only longer life, but better quality life in our later years. It's all by making intentional decisions (deposits) to impact our lifespan and healthspan.

They address not only diet and exercise, but also sleep, relationships, and mindset--all vital components that work together and affect one another, either positively or negatively. We need to start today!

They present the topics in a no-nonsense fashion with very practical tips and suggestions. I like how they don't waste our time by beating around the bush. They also walk us through the lifestyle of two couples in each chapter and show us how they address these categorical areas with their decisions.

Chapter 10 is powerful as it shows us how our decisions pan out in our later years. Every choice toward wellness has a ripple effect. Every choice, no matter how small, matters and is important.

My husband and I are both medical, yet came away with increased knowledge/awareness that is necessary to implement necessary changes to our routine. I thought we knew this stuff. Yet we learned even more!

Start With Ch 10!

Although my mind and eyes were opened by each new chapter, it was Ch 10 when the authors introduced us to their “future 80 yo selves” that I realized I had better start NOW making some changes to my 67 yo self IF I wanted a better future.
This eBook was so awesome that I just ordered the paperback (& will probably order more as gifts!).
Two professionals, a doctor and a CrossFit owner, team up to teach us HOW to live an INTENTIONAL Life, not one by default. They address 5 main components—diet, exercise, sleep, mindset, and relationships. The book is absolutely brimming with tips, hacks, and action steps. I found myself wishing I had this advice 40 years ago, but as the Chinese proverb (quoted twice in the book) says, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time to plant a tree is today.”
As a retired business teacher, I love the analogy of “deposits” into your future self.
Don’t let this book … or your life … pass you by!

LOVE this book! It is an easy enjoyable read! I’ve not read a book that so clearly explains the importance of the 5 health factors - sleep, diet, exercise, relationships and mindset. Putting equal importance on all these areas is what will lead you to long lasting success. You can’t focus on just one or two.

Dr. Libby is my former primary care doctor and my current functional medicine doctor. She knows her stuff!! She was the first stop on my own health/wellness journey of transformation. Her knowledge combined with Nate’s guidance for physical fitness makes this book a practical guide for making positive change in your life.

It truly feels like Dr. Libby and Nate are cheering you on with their guidance and support!

This book was the kick in the butt I needed to get over some long standing apathy. I would like freedom in terms of lifespan. I will admit, I have been on autopilot and with lots of excuses. I had children late in life so energy is important to me. I have allowed the weight to pile on and it affects my asthma, lung expansion, reflux disease, joints and stamina. I am going to get real here and commit to increasing my healthspan in the short and long term.

inspiring and true

Healing is not only about taking right food, medicine or supplements. As a FDN ( functional nutrition diagnostic practitioner) I realized another side of healing is how you deal with day to day relationship with others and how you control your emotions and stress.
This book has a unique look at lifestyle changes which is not nutrition or medicine but how we fuel our soul in relationship with others or even with ourselves.

The authors lay out the vision of why I want to optimize my life now so that my future self can thank me. They say it is simple but not easy. And on days where I need to go for a walk or exercise....I think, easy but not simple...just go! Since reading this book I am watching less tv and reading more. I have become more aware of who gets my time. It really is a great book if you want to be intentional in how you live your BEST life!
