Note: We have the hard back copy, which doesn't exist yet here on goodreads.
The hubby picked this one up on a whim whilst doing a quick trip to Costco. Didn't even get to flip through to see if there were any recipes that interested us.
So I was absolutely pleasantly surprised when reading through this one and I quite literally mean it... there are far less recipes I'm not interested in trying vs recipes I actively want to try.
That usually doesn't happen. Usually I'll find just enough recipes that I'd be willing to try that I feel justified buying the book, but the level of wanting to try them is usually not 'OOOH I WANT THAT NOW'. Which these were basically all "I want that now."
I think this book is going to be used a lot as so many of them fit my requirements of calories vs taste vs work involved.
I have tried two recipes so far and they barely tasted anything and the consistency was way off (no liquid left but it was supposed to be a soup for example). Not sure if the recipes were not made for the slow cooker function of a CrocPot or if the recipes are just bad. Don’t really feel like risking it and trying a third recipe right now but I might some time in the future because I love the idea of putting in all the ingredients and getting a dinner ready a couple of hours later. The ones I tried just didn’t work tho.
A bit surprised of the enthusiasm of the book. A fair share of the receipes seem good to begin with, so I started off optimistic. After trying several of the receipes, some even several times, I found the taste a bit odd.
I really loved this book, probably one of my best slow cooker cookbooks, and I have a lot of them! I feel the need to look through them now and again to stop me cooking the same old recipes all the time, this book has given me loads of new ideas. I had the hard back version for christmas, and so far I've made the thai basil beef which I absolutely loved did a tiny bit of tweaking because there was one ingredient I don't think I had, but it still tasted great, beef noodles with the peanut sauce, the lovely chicken korma, healthy chicken korma I think it was called. There are too many to list, at this rate I can see me cooking the whole book!! Which would be very unusual for me, it's around half or just under a book.
I get a lot of books for presents and I love my cookbooks because they are normally a bit too expensive for me to buy but I do get some out of the library as well and then worry in case I get them "dirty". As if, they often come like that. But this is definitely one slow cooker cookbook I would highly recommend, once you've got over the number of ingredients in some of the recipes, but he's right they do help the flavour along.
New twists on classics, and new ideas. Definitely different to the other slow cooker books I own. I feel inspired to cook and can’t wait to start. Easily accessible ingredients. A book everyone with a slow cooker should own. Love the TikTok channel and now the book.
I was prepared to forgive a title like "Bored of Lunch" if it contained good recipes. It doesn't. Everything I tried was a failure. Particularly tasteless were the braised beans and as for the chocolate brownies! The edges carbonated long before the centre was remotely cooked. An utter waste of perfectly good calories. Next time I'll choose a cookbook with a more mellifluous title!
One of my favourite cook books ever! Having only had it for 6 months, I’ve already cooked 50% of the recipes and everything is delicious and easy to make.
Love my slow cooker, use it around 5 time a week while working but was getting bored of the same thing again and again. This book is a game changer, we have such a variety now, lovley tasting dishes
Just received this book in the mail that I "won" from Goodreads. I really like this cookbook. It has pictures! I just love a good pic of food I want to make. Crockpot cooking is the best in winter. Can't wait to pick a recipe to make!
Easy to follow with delicious recipes. Has made eating in a calorie deficit so much easier! I initially borrowed this book from my local library. Then I extended my loan and then realised it had become a staple in my kitchen so bought my own copy.
I have a bit of a thing for recipe books but usually find a handful of dishes that pique my interest. But THIS book is FULL of delicious recipes that I could happily work through one by one! The sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry is one of my particular favourites but there are so many that I go back to again and again! If your slow cooker is your best friend, you need this book in your life!
Some great recipes and ideas. Curries a bit bland for us but the technique used means I have adapted some recipes that are now much better in the slow cooker.
