This series is one of the best fantasy romance series I’ve read in quite a long time. The constant emotional pull, heartache, betrayal, all of it. It makes you yearn for more, even when the story has come to an end. There are some answers I do of course wish we’d gotten, but I have a feeling those may be meant to come later, maybe in another series? The torment and just absolute insanity within the 400 some pages of this novel had me on the edge of my seat yet begging for more when it finally all came to an end. Tessa and Tala are geniuses, Kaillen is hot and steamy as ever, I still think Carlos is a creep, Barnabas and Fallon are precious and hilarious, and Prisha maintains her spot as one of my all time favorite “side kick” type characters and I hope we get stories about Barnabas, Tessa, Fallon, and Prisha in the future. The character development within this as well as the struggle for a love both people want but fate seems to be intent on destroying only made it that much more enjoyable to read. Not to mention the drama with the portal and who or what was waiting on the other side of it. If you want to know how this rollercoaster of a story ends, I definitely suggest reading it asap. I only wish I could read this series for the first time again. I know I would love it just as much.

Eh

Definitely should’ve gotten it done in three, maybe would have tightened the writing, would have made less time for Tala to be so unlikable. There was a lot of fluff the books could have done without for better story. There was a lot of repetition in what the characters would say.
Tala’s wolf is killed, thanks to her terrible decisions, and Kaillen’s wolf is mourning her death and Tala has no care for that, no consideration, gives zero time, just whines about herself and how it’s affecting her. She involves her ex, on ridiculous advice from her twin. Why did the author think having Tala listen to Tessa and play Carlos like she does was a good idea? All because Tala can’t give time for mourning, which increases Tala’s patheticness? She comes off as an inconsiderate, selfish, self-centered crap person. Shameful. And you don’t let a ex take you out to tell him not interested, you don’t let him pick you up to take you to dinner if your purpose is to tell him not interested. That’s a come to the house tell him and have him leave since you don’t want to tell him over the phone or through text “because he deserves better than that.” Really? After he failed to return calls, texts and voicemail messages and is how he broke up with you? How is it he deserves better? There still being problems come fourth book is ridiculous and overkill and makes the entire series less.
Kaillen has to do a lot of fighting his wolf in trying to get back to being with Tala as they were before. Tala, on the more positive side, does decide she’s fighting for Kaillen, says he’s her mate, that she’s going to fight to remind the wolf part of him that she’s his mate, he thought so before she had a wolf. Now why she has the thought to call him her “former” mate in a later chapter when they first arrive in the city of Sofia, I do not know. What is up with that being written, why would she think that after all that was said before? Then she falls again in going along with Barnabas, who takes full advantage on opportunity to “rile” Kaillen up to force his wolf to get the rest of the way back to recognition of Tala as his mate. Too far. And Tala goes along. Ratchet skank describes her here. It’s Kaillen who deserves better than Tala.
And why would she be trying to make a sex joke with the prince, the enemy? Allowing him to do the double kiss on the cheek when she just came from fighting him, purple is what he likes on a woman so should have demanded everything purple removed. She was too compliant. I get wanting to ensure the safety of your friends, and trying to stall, but she just got there that day! They’re absolutely should’ve been a lot more resistance. She was not meant to be all nice, sweet and compliant in a day, had even said how she’s need to show resistance mixed with a modicum of complicity. Seems author forgot that. I had to stop reading the ridiculousness. Skimming more and more at this point, moved to skipping entirely.
Switch places with her twin, hmmmm. And why is it not the first thought that the twin does NOT have the powers within that Tala has, that the prince can feel? No one thinks of this? No one? Mentioned by Tala after several times of considering switching places with her twin, like it’s nothing. Also very cliché use of twins, no originality with that. And we never get to know what it was that Tessa did while she was in the other room, pretending to be Tala.
There are so many wrong things, they really highlight this story should not have spanned four books. Tala’s character as initially written degrades as the story goes on, things that happen are drug out way too long. Other things that happen, like with Carlos and Barnabas, highlight how deteriorated Tala’s initially presented character traits fall to the horrible trend too many authors fall into, of turning a supposed to be strong, female character type into the cliché ridiculous acting, can’t stick to their convictions, go along with ridiculous ways of acting, demeaning to women, crapola. The one who killed Tala’s wolf, it’s mentioned once when she realizes who it was, and then there’s nothing else said about it when she was back in that realm where that person was? No plots thought up? Nothing regarding trying to get revenge for it?
Not sure how I feel about the ending. There was a return not sure about, felt too convenient to me. I would have rather it not occur.
Cameron finally gets it, and oh boy does he. Can say didn’t see that one until it was transpiring. Though where was Cameron’s mate? There’s no appearance at all, which didn’t make sense given Cameron was mated.

A great series

As with the first three books this was not a disappointment. Once again great laughs and many tears. An ending I was so happy to read. Tala is once again whole.

A really lovely ending to this series, particularly if you read the bonus chapter.

However, I did feel these books could (should) have been reduced into a duology.
I felt the second part of this series really over egged the pudding.
Overall an enjoyable series... that I personally felt went on too long and became far too embroiled in excess storytelling.
Less is more.

After the end of the previous book, mystery man has come through the portal and delivered Tala a letter from the other realms Queen. Apparently Tala is a long lost princess. She ends up in the other realm, where she learns the Queen wants to trap her there, marry her off, and basically use her as a brood mare to carry on the royal line due to the power she has. After a lot of back and forth trying to get out of what the Queen has planned without getting anyone killed, and also closing the portal to the new realm - Tala and Kaillen get their mating bond back, Tala saves the day by using her magic to close the portal with the Princess of hells help. Tala becomes a wolf again thanks to Kaillen saving her with his blood, and Kaillen gets his revenge on his brother by delivering him to hell.

This was a pretty good end to a very good series. While this book seemed to drag a little bit more than the previous books, the ending was still quite wholesome. It just felt like the middle of the book went on for a considerable amount of time. Considering this is only 350 pages, It’s hard to understand why it dragged. There are portions of the dialogue that seem forced and unedited in some parts. While some elements of the story were fairly predictable, such as the the Royal family of the new realm being evil, the portal being closed, and Kaillen getting his revenge on his brother, other parts of the story were exciting and plot twisty. Such as the hierarchy of the Royal family and why they needed Talas power, the fact that Kaillen was able to convince his Demon mother to help them. It was expected that Tala would become a wolf again, the ending was dramatic when even though she closed the door to the other realm, she nearly died thanks to the Bitch Queens magical power. Unsurprising that because of this Kaillen used his blood to save her again.

Tala becomes a little bit annoying through the middle section, because she seems to lose her mind and even though her mating bond with Kaillen has repaired, she’s essentially giving him up and going into the other realm to live her life as a broodmare so that there’s no possibility of the Royals of the other realm using the portal to get to earth.
It just seems stupid, it’s like she loses all intelligence at some point. Thankfully the plan after that is quite smart, switching her out with Tessa and the way in which they solve the problem by getting together all the powerful supernaturals to close the portal.

Kaillen is his usual great self. It was quite sad to see him through the start of the book struggle so much fighting against his wolf. His wolf wanted nothing to do with Tala after her wolf died. Not wanting Kaillen to take another mate. But Kaillen does everything he can to fight against the wolf, and convinced the wolf that Tala is his mate even though her wolf has died. It’s really well written the angst and despair that he felt. The details such as him talking to himself like a crazy person, when he was actually talking to his wolf, were really enjoyable and a nice fun additive to the story.

The found family excel, coming into do whatever they can to help protect Tala and Kaillen. Even Commander Klebus steps up! Which I really didn’t expect, because for the second and third book I thought she was really suss and may have changed sides, so it was nice to see that I was wrong.
The writing of Tessa’s personality goes back-and-forth a little bit. Which is an interesting way to develop her character. One minute she’s doing everything she can to help Tala in the next she’s making everything about herself again because she’s jealous of Tala. It’s pretty detailed writing to be able to flick between the two.

The ending is pretty wholesome, with everyone living, Tala becoming a wolf again and getting her mating bond with Kaillen back. Fallon and Prisha were not surprise. Barnabas and Tessa are slightly odd matching, but at least it’s well explained that this is probably not a long-term thing. It was slightly disappointing that we never found out who the traitor in the special forces was.
At least everyone’s happy now.

I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT ENDING!!!

Man I need to discuss this book immediately, but how do I do that with no spoilers since it’s literally only been out a day!!! First off let me start off by saying this was the most perfect ending to this series although I absolutely could read 7 more books about Tala and Kaillen!! This book immediately picks up where book three left off, and I do mean immediately where book three ended! And boy did book three end with a BANG!! So as you can probably already tell Forged of Bone began literally right in the trenches… now I suggest if you haven’t read books 1-3 at this point you look away because I can’t promise no spoilers for those books!!

So at the end of book three Tala, has been kidnapped by a psycho, used to open a portal to another dimension, lost her wolf due to that dimension, and lost her mate all in one fell swoop!! Does that bring our girl Tala down though? Absolutely not (well not for long anyways, a girls gotta grieve right 🤷🏼‍♀️). So instead of sliding into a black hole and letting fate just run all over her, and the life she saw for herself she decides it’s time to take a little fate into her own hands… I mean she is a witch after all. And just as she’s gearing up to meet fate head on Kaillen re-enters her life and tells her that he’s not ready to give her up either, no matter what fate says. And that is where book four picks up with fate as fate always does, deciding to throw a monkey wrench right in the middle of their already hectic lives, because well Tala opened a portal and now those on the other side want Tala back. Tala on the hand is quite happy on the planet she calls home, and while Kaillens wolf may not be on board he’s certainly not gonna just hand Tala over to these new folks without a fight. There are things Tala needs to learn though, about her magic, her birthright, and about herself and it’s not like the newbies are giving her much of an option when it comes to tagging along to their new planet. Unfortunately, that’s where I must leave you on the details because anymore than that and it’ll be spoilers galore!! All I can say though is I absolutely loved this book, and can’t wait to see more people fall in love with it!! So do you love strong possessive alpha males, and strong female protagonists, as well as a love strong enough to defy fate, as well as inter dimensional worlds, along with an eclectic mix of found family member ready to risk it all on an adventure I certainly didn’t see coming?? Well then what are you waiting for, pick of Forger of Bone!!

I enjoyed it, but I really think it should have ended at three books.

I really enjoyed book three until the ending, I wish she had finished the series then. As everyone who has read the books knows that Tala is used to open a doorway to another world, a world where the bone crunchers live. I wish she hadn’t written about this planet, as it was basically the same as in Dune. We never really get to know why they are called bone crunchers, it hints at it, but the reader just has to guess. In book 3, Tala’s wolf dies and Kaillen’s wolf mourns her loss in this one. He won’t accept that his mate is alive and to be honest it was part of what spoilt it for me. !Tala spent over half the book trying to convince his wolf that she’s still his mate, with his friends and her sister joining in. Are there not bigger things to worry about???? Like the evil portal being open, and the Prince who comes through it for Tala?

The niggles about this book; In the other three, Kaillen was really strong and in dangerous situations was brilliant at controlling himself, and his anger. In this one he’s basically just running on instinct. He acts without thinking all the time, and his character seemed weaker. The plot didn’t make sense halfway through, and there a few plot holes. As said above I hated the storyline with Kaillen’s wolf not recognising her, and Tala spending a big chunk of the book almost begging for affection, from Kaillen.

This series was very long and drawn out. While parts of it were really good, it just felt too long.

While I loved the series, I would have loved to read Tala giving in just a bit more. I also chose to read her, as a more voluptuous, dark haired girl vs a barbie doll...lol. A great series, as usual. Just hoping for more realistic features. Loving that they are in the same world but would love love love to see more series intertwining and character overlap.

I was very excited for this book, and it did not disappoint. There was so much action, mystery, and romance weaved throughout the novel’s pages. We finally were able to see the culmination of the Bone Eaters subplot, which was even more complex and intriguing than I anticipated. The new characters that were introduced definitely added to the book’s suspense and emotional depth.

I especially enjoyed the progression of Kaillen and Tala’s relationship as they worked to re-establish their connection. Kaillen’s possessive and protective side was showcased well, and it was sweet to see him choose Tala as both a man and a wolf. There was a real sense of family and love throughout the book. My only complaint was that the ending was a little abrupt. Although all loose ends were tied up, I wish there had been a more extensive epilogue to give us a better glimpse into the future of the characters.

Overall, this was an action-packed story filled with chemistry and heart. I highly recommend it.

*I received an ARC of this novel. This is my complete and honest review.*

Could have been a trilogy or less

This review is for the entire series. First I like the mfc. She is strong willed and grows throughout the books. However, the insecurities with being mated was tedious and never ending. I'm all about a slow burn but this was a sloth trying to swim through molasses slow. The first couple of books while somewhat repetitive were pretty good.

I also enjoyed the world and the side characters. The author would be someone I would read if there wasn't an abundance of the same on repeat.

That being said I only read approximately 23% of the last 2 books. I read a couple chapters in the middle and the end and was satisfied I didn't miss anything crucial. I was ready for the story to be over so I could move on. I won't seek out this author.

Mediocre

It has been a while between books so I had largely forgotten what had happened in the previous books and had to hope to have memories jogged to previous events from this book. I honestly found this book a bit boring the storyline didn't grab my imagination and I found the characters dull. Maybe if the books had followed on immediately it may have been better but this just didn't get my interest at all.

loved the first 3

The 3 books before were great. A captivating story and great pace. The 4th book was a chore to get through. It obsessed over his wolf accepting her again. Characters were reduced to generic “all consuming love.”
The other world had no real development. Everything was wrapped up in a generic pretty bow rather than having any real substance.

Decent ending, if somewhat forced to bring things full circle.

So, yay, Tala and Kaillen get their HEA, and the endings I hoped for Tessa and Prisha are hinted at. Still… a LOT of coincidences had to happen to bring it to its completion, and I’m not sure exactly how I feel about it.

Honestly, Kaillen was more attractive as a mystery in The Fae of Snow and Ice series. The fact he’s half werewolf/half-demon with a side serving of full sorcerer is interesting, even if the demonic side is more talked about while the wolf is prominent, not knowing exactly what his genetic makeup is was definitely more intriguing in FoS&I.

Plus, you expect a morally gray man for hire to be a smug and cocky jerk, but he’s really too into himself and his abilities that it’s more turn-off than interesting bad boy trait.

And how he just bails on Tala for awhile while his wolf is in mourning- sorry, they put her through hell while she herself was the one with the greater loss. I lost respect for his wolfy side with that one. But to throw out an excuse to try getting another she wolf to generate in Tala??? That’s a real stretch. Seriously, how much more far-fetched she would possibly spawn the same female wolf for his to recognize as his just when he’d finally accepted Tara as she was without an inner wolf?

That’s just trying to make everything like it was before after you’ve shattered it into pieces. Sure, it’s fiction and the author can do as she wants, but there is reasonably only so far you can go before even the fantasy romance lover has to cry foul.

Still, did I enjoy it by the end? Sure. Could it have left some extraneous crap out and been condensed into three books? Absolutely, and I think it would have been a far stronger story for it. The continuity issues alone drove me nuts as there was so much going on the author couldn’t even remember that Prisha was fish sitting for the twins, so having them randomly be back at the twins’ apartment instead at Prisha’s (among others) became almost a “spot the inconsistencies” game by the end of the series.

There wasn’t a ton of them, but enough anyway to notice them.

Will I read the author again? Sure, but FoS&I was far more entertaining for me than this. Maybe I’ll give the Fae of Woodlands and Wild a try since the final book is out next week. I’ll give another SF a shot, but I’m not sure I enjoyed this one enough to want to continue with them. Maybe an office that isn’t the Chicago branch?

mediocre at best

I fell in love with Krista Street’s fae of snow and ice series. It was amazingly descriptive, it kept my attention in every book and it was something I couldn’t put down. So naturally when I finished I wanted to check out some other series and I have to say the disappointment hit hard. I’m not sure if these were written early in her career or if she got a new editor but it doesn’t even feel like it was written by the same person. The description, character banter and inner monologues and the FMC was abhorrent. So much repetition and awkward dialogue throughout the entire series. I kept expecting it to get better but it 100% missed the mark. The FMC was absolutely terrible. Her development completely stopped in the second book and she became insanely predictable, never learned from her mistakes and definitely did appreciate or show her male counterpart a fraction of the dedication he did her. She was too busy being stubborn and wrapped up in herself and thinking she’s an independent woman that no one can tell what to do, not even fate. When written correctly this kind of character can be intriguing but in this instance she was obnoxious and took her “independence” to another level, often lashing out at those who care for her and alienating herself on purpose because she can’t handle being loved and cared for. 10/10 don’t recommend. I have three stars because the story was interesting enough to keep me invested but it had SO MUCH potential and just didn’t meet the mark.

“Forged of Bone,” the final installment in the Supernatural Curse series, reached its conclusion in a comforting and satisfying fashion. Saying goodbye to Tala and Kaillen was bittersweet, but I was incredibly content with the conclusion of their story 📖

While I was very comfortable with the ending of this series, I felt like the conclusion came too quickly. The pace of the book was great, until the last few chapters. Everything felt a little rushed and, unfortunately, I felt like there were a few gaps in the storyline as a result 😞 Though, I am hopeful that Krista Street will continue with her Supernatural World stories and perhaps follow-up on some of those minor loose ends🌍

I was more than happy that Tala and Kaillen were able to reforge their bond, but as I mentioned in my review of the third installment, I think it was necessary that the bond was broken so Tala could finally accept Kaillen’s feelings towards her (without the insecurity of his wolf steering the wheel). Plus, I was THRILLED with the bonus chapter Street shared on to her subscribing members because readers were able to re-introduce themselves with Tala’s wolf 🤩

Now, my real question is, will we revisit Lunaria again…? I’d love to see how things turned out for that particularly gag-worthy prince Malahki and his power hungry queen of a mother 👸🏻Krista…any insight? 😉

Cringe

The whole 4 book series was a cringe-fest and read like a bad fan-fic mixed with a conversation between millennials. The only reason I started the series is because I wanted to know more about the Fire Wolf character that was introduced in her ice fae series (also tough to get through the first book with the amount of times the reader is reminded that the main girl can't possibly be falling for the main guy bc he did bad things every other sentence. At least that one got better). These books start immediately with over powered main characters that end up with more power and I got to a point where I only finished to continue to give my friends a play by play live react to how absurd and irritating the book was. No author should ever use the phrase "le sigh" once let alone multiple times in a series, among other awful phrases that again made the book read like a millennials text message.
I guess the only good thing to come of slogging through this was that I have now suggested that we form a "terrible book club" with the expectation that whatever we're reading is going to be just as ridiculous as this series.

Forged of Bone (Supernatural Curse book 4) by Krista Street is a 4 ⭐️ read.
When we left off the last book Tala had her wolf destroyed by what ever it was that came through the portal, she knew she had similar power but wasn’t sure how it was all connected to her until someone comes to earth from the other side of the portal and tells Tala she needs to go there and that she’s an important part of the world there.
Kallien’s wolf feels the loss of Tala’s and is convinced that their mate is dead, even though Kallien tries to convince him that Tala is still their mate with or without her wolf, things aren’t easy especially with the royal who comes through the portal and is trying to take Tala there, Kallien will fight everyone including his wolf to keep his mate safe and by his side.
The last book in this series was definitely worth waiting for, I will miss these characters and hope that maybe the others will get their stories too.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

The fourth book was interesting! That’s for sure. I certainly did not predict that we would end up in another world. Gosh! It felt a little far fetched but I think the author made it work. It was a heck of a good time! Having tala and kaillen together for most of the book helped too. I loved that the secondary characters made more of an appearance in this one. I especially like her bestie Prisha. But kaillens friends Barnabas and Fallon were great additions too! The gargoyles and the library were a trip! Nice touch for sure.

A 3,000 year old prince was trying to mate her? Seriously? In another world? I dunno. It’s just crazy when you hear it but overall, I liked the story. Even tho it was a touch incredulous tbh. The writing is good and the sex scenes were nice and spicy and I loved that kaillen and tala kept at their relationship even through trials. Tessa saved Tala from having to enamour the prince so that worked out for everyone. I would have liked a bit more HEA. But overall, a solid 3.2. I might read it again just to revisit the characters.

a great end to a great series

Wooowwwwww!! I knew this would be a 5 star read!! My goodness, the plot twists were plot twisting in this series!! The loss of Tala’s wolf and their mate bond.. but neither of them dying. I’ve never seen that in any other book before. The angst that was created from Kaillen understanding that Tala isn’t dead but his wolf mourning the loss of his mate, was just incredible!!!

Ooh I loved this!! Seeing the process of Tala and Kaillen’s bond being rebuilt and all the “ways,” they used to make it so. Added so much tension, I loved it!! Barnabas was… very helpful in that regard.

Lunaris is a beautifully deranged land. I completely see why Tala’s ancestor Princess Heathermore, fled from that world. Malikih and his family are disgusting individuals… the queen especially!! That world, their way of life and their ways of sustaining that life.. is just unnatural even for supernatural beings. This series ended beautifully!!! I’m thoroughly satisfied!! And Kaillen’s “deliverance,” such a pleasant surprise!!!

Adventures and romance

I truly enjoyed this series. I really appreciated how the characters were each strong in their own way, and none of the females were "weak" damsels in distress or freaking out about their powers or lack. I especially enjoyed that Kaillen was not such a stoic badass that he didn't show his vulnerabilities and that communication for the couple Kaillen and Tala was something they had to support each other in. I have to say that this is the first series where I truly "liked" the characters. They went through their trials and tribulations like responsible and respectful bad-ass adults with awesome magic. The intimate scenes were still spicy and yummy. The side characters all seem like they have interesting stories also, and I'd love for them to have their own book or series. It looks like I'm binging on every single Krista Street story on Kindle, and I think you should also.

Pure Brilliance

The brilliance that is Krista Street has done it again!!!! I didn't even read the preface for this series, I simply noted the author and dove head first, void of any pretense! Let me say I'm elated to have done so!!! This is BY FAR my favorite series (of anything I have ever read) and I have read ALOT!

You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

The love between Kaillen and Tala knows no bounds. It is the thing dreams are made of. To experience the fight and grit and pure determination two people are willing to go through for love was magical. My cup runneth over for the lessons of love, determination, finding one's true self, and never letting go!

There are book readers and then there are *book readers. As a *book reader....Thank you from the bottom of my heart for knowing what we needed to walk away from this series. 💋

A nice romance

The romantic tension was the strongest part of this series. It really messed with my emotions at times. Krista Street knows how to build a romance and keep the tension burning.

While the romance was great, there was a lot of unnecessary extras that bogged down the story. I'm not sure if it was done on purpose to drag out the story or just something the author is unaware of but it almost ruined the story. I think the story could have been shortened to three books. If all the super long and unnecessary introspection was left out and some of the long drawn-out descriptions were dropped, it could have kept my attention. I found myself skipping over pages of word vomit. Too much introspection and descriptions make me feel like either the author thinks I'm too stupid to get what's going on or that the author is just writing filler.

I did enjoy the story.

I started this book knowing this was the last book in the series, and I am so heartbroken never to see Kaillen and Tala. However, I dived in to see how this book was going to end. Boy, did I enjoy myself. Poor Tala is bereft with her loss in the last book (no spoilers), and she’s hoping to still fix things. I found this aspect interesting, and I love the way the author resolved this. Add in to this the revelations, the action, and the great writing, I quite enjoyed myself throughout the whole book. I’m hoping that maybe the author will release more in the series…pretty please?!? LOL! Great ending to a great series! Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

We’ve finally uncovered the depths of Jakub’s plan, but that discovery came with consequences none of us expected.
Despite battling his inner wolf, Kaillen is determined to prove his love. So the two of us delve into my family’s long buried past to discover the truth of who I really am.
But things don’t go as planned, and our struggles uncover an impossible choice. I can either stay on earth and accept that my hunter and I will never be mated, or I can embrace my destiny and say goodbye to the only man I’ve ever loved.

A fantastic finale! One of the best series of books I've read in a while. The twists and turns and the complexities of the characters make you feel like you're a part of their world.
