The last thing I expected from death was a second chance.
I've been altered and now I'm a threat to Morningstar. If the forces working against me have their way, then I'll be dying again, and this time, they'll be no coming back.
The clock is ticking, and I'm not sure I'll be able to get out of this situation alive.
Hidden truths, secrets, and lies surround me.
I hate all three.
It's time to pull back the veil and reveal what's lurking behind it.

HOLY MOLY!! So much happened in this book my mind is all over the place. OMG!! One word: SIN!! What an entrance. Nyx and her men...I need all of them. That ending was so unexpected. I can't wait until the next book. As always Debbie doesn't disappoint. This worldbuilding is magnificent, rich in detail and well written. Come on book 4

Welcome back to Hell and the competition to become the next Satan. Nyx is the front runner for the throne and she has a lovely harem of men dedicated to keeping her alive and helping her win the competition and just stay alive in Demon Gate the third book the Demons of Morningstarseries.
Nyx's origins are still unknown; she is demon spawn. Satan is her father, but her mother is something of an enigma. Based on things learned in this book, her mother is from a race thought to be long dead and that makes Nyx even more of a threat. With her protector hound and bound Nightmare, she already had a formidable team trying to keep her alive. Nyx has some kind of pull on some of the most powerful men/demons in hell and she will solidify some of those bonds in Demon Gate, a very reverse harem addition to the book.
This installment focused a lot more on the mystery that is Nyx's heritage and what that means. She has metamorphosized into some of her power and is now much stronger than the half human shell she seemed to be. Her siblings and rivals for the throne will also do their best to make sure Nyx gets a fair shot no matter what their sponsors think. The Fates seem to have a hand in bringing all of these moments together and some of the men from Nyx's past make a splash as they weigh in and show their true colors.
I really need to be in the mood for a reverse harem. They are fun but one girl being the object of desire and need for multiple partners isn't always what I'm in the mood for. However, if you are looking for a book with a lot of sexy times and alpha men/males that will make you drool a little with their creativity to outdo each other in the bedroom this will probably be a lot of fun for you. Demon Gate, had the most sexy times in it so far and Nyx wraps multiple men, individually and never at the same time so far, around her.
Overall the story arc is what I'm interested in and it remains good. There were at least three big reveals in this book that really surprised me with all of their implications. The cast of characters is big and while I can keep all of Nyx's siblings straight I struggle with some of the other side characters that show up here and there and while listening to the audio for the story it was sometimes hard to catch who was who. The journey remains interesting and so I love forward to seeing what is in store for Nyx next, especially with that little cliffy at the end.
Avie Paige narrates the majority of the story as Nyx's PoV. I liked her fun take on Nyx's passionate yet carefree ways and how she made the story fun. While she did great for most characters, there are so many that have made their way into the story that sometimes I couldn't differentiate or tell who was talking for some of the side characters. Jay Alder performed all the male PoVs. His voice is delicious; I liked the depth he brought to some of their performances and he did make sexy times pop with timbre of his seductive voice.
This series is so hard to put down. The world sucks you right in. NYX and her siblings over come so much in every book, and it continues to make them stronger and bring them closer.
This book we get more of Nyx and her guys which I loved! I love the development of the relationship with each of them and what they bring out in Nyx.
I'm always really impressed with Debbie Cassidy. Not only does she write an almost insane amount of books a year, but she also comes up with countless characters and fantasy worlds in those books. I always thought my imagination was endless, but I get the impression that it's not even half as endless as some indie authors are blessed with. Since I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, I was excited to dive into this arc!
I think this fantasy world is really interesting, layered and complicated, the kind of complicated you rarely encounter. At times the book therefore feels a little chaotic because there is so much going on and I have to admit that I sometimes have issues telling all the characters apart, since it are so many. However, by the end of the book I really had the feeling everything we've learned and discovered is leading somewhere.
Even in the third book the author is still giving us, and the characters, new information. I'm constantly impressed by how well thought out this series is, how much eye for detail the author had and how all those little storylines and all those overheard conversations and all those characters with their own agenda seem to be part of the same storyline. I already felt like things were slowly coming together in the last chapters. I can't wait to read the rest!
Although I sometimes have trouble to tell all the side characters apart and to remember who's who, I absolutely love the heroine in this story. And that's mostly because she's not just fierce and tough and good at fighting and winning those fights. She also has a big heart, fights for the people she loves and will do everything she can when she feels something is simply unjust or unfair. I can't wait until the moment we'll get to see all her powers at work!
Demon Gate is the third installment in Nys's story - and it feels like it's just getting warmed up. While Death is supposed to be the end, for Nyx, it's anything but, which might be expected given her name, current life choices, and those of her siblings.
The epic games that encompass the Morningstar saga have been woven through the first two books, falling into a graceless heap in the very first chapter of Book 3. Everything that has gone before led up to this moment, and it's a gut-wrenching culmination - one that isn't the climax that anyone expects.
There are a wealth of characters in this series, each with their own viewpoints and personality. I despised some in the beginning while loving others, yet here, as book 3 closes, I find those original opinions shifted and changed, much like Nyx's transformation. Nothing is quite what it seems and the battle for the Throne is just one small part of the larger picture.
I know I say this every time about a Debbie read but dang girl, how do you keep making these series that just keep getting better and better? Your female leads are each just as amazing as the previous.
I cannot get enough of Nyx and her guys.
So Demon Gate picks up where book two left off, just a bit stressful maybe.
But in true Debbie fashion there is even more twists and turns. Just when you think you have things figured out, Bam!! Nope!!!
Debbie is amazing at this, keeping the reader so engrossed before you know it the end is done and you are left waiting for the next installment.
One of the things that has made me a huge fan also is her love for writing characters that love their family and their unit. Family means so much to me and I love how Debbie writes about loyalty and love.
Also typical Debbie, you will get answers, but more will come up.
Overall, Debbie has added another fantastic read under her belt and made me addicted to her writing. If you have not checked out any of her books, or even this series, I highly recommend that you do.
I’ve been devouring this series and the previous series over the past few days and I just realized that the last book isn’t out until August 😩😩😩😩
If you like your romance to be spicy slow burn that’s heavy on plot, world building, and development, this is the author for you.
Also, I love that Nyx manages to be both a total badass and a sweetie with a huge heart. It’s wonderful to see her build relationships and bring people together.
Wow! This book was absolutely amazing. Nyx has easily become one of my all time favorite characters and she really did shine in this book. We find out a lot of answers in this book but not all of them. Yes, I'm looking at you Sin! I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!
Wow what a steamy emotional ride this was. Nyx and her siblings go through soo much on their quest for the throne. Was bot expecting all the surprises in this book and the cliffhanger was mean.
I think Nyx is one of my favourite characters that the author has created. She's making her way in life (in hell in this case), but she doesn't let the adversities stop her from taking and protecting what's hers. Moreover the relationship with the guys is super hot, and I'm sure it's going to turn even hotter. I also love Nyx because she has her weak moments and she lets herself feel before coming back even stronger.
I can't wait to find out what Nyx will have to deal with next.
This series is now more frustrating than entertaining so I'm not sure I'll continue on.
So many things are inconsistent. Nyx is meant to be tough but she's mainly just mouthy - she doesn't actually fight.
On top of that, she is actually a bit of a damsel, constantly needing to be saved or rescued in a Deus ex machina moment.
The men aren't bad but I can't stand the latest addition, Sin/Lucifer. He comes across as stuck up and cold and it's awful that Ignatius's matebond was supplanted by his claim. Plus, Sev seems like an afterthought now as does Artimus.
The sibling stuff is trite and over the top. I especially dislike how YA their interactions seem considering they're all meant to be in their mid-twenties at least (in demon years).
Besides, most of the siblings don't actually do anything. It's incredible that they are meant to be the heirs but hardly any have fighting skills or can do anything truly useful.
Pacing is also an issue. The plot moves at such a fast pace it's hard to keep up with what's happening. One moment she's crying and angry and in the next scene she's horny?
The emotional whiplash just made everything less serious. Eventually you stop caring and start skimming - and that's how I know to end the series here. Mentally I've checked out.

One of the best things in this series for me is watching the characters evolve into better versions of themselves and a solid family unit. Another is watching Nyx’s character truly take form. She’s come from nothing, an orphan abandoned (with no family or background to speak of) and left to her own devices. She’s excelled at forming strong bonds with her best friends and others she’s met along her journey with her unwavering trust, devotion, and love. She leads by her instinct and heart – which gets her in more trouble than not, but ultimately, she is vividly focused and what’s ahead and stays true to form. Her actions really speak louder than words and she will lay everything, including her life on the line for what she believes and stands strong against those who wish to do her or those she considers hers harm. She is an amazingly endearing character with a huge amount of potential.
This series has been exciting from the start but in this third book, things really start to tie together. Long-awaited questions are answered, though a frustrating number again appear but with the final book soon on the way all answers will be provided and I cannot wait to see how many of my theories and thoughts ring true in the end (if any do at all!). With Debbie’s magnificent ability with cliffhangers and loose threads, I know there will be more surprises and shocks along the way but they will balance out in epic finality that will leave me with a book hangover for days.
Nyx has come so far in this third installment – stronger ties to the world, deeper bonds with her siblings, stronger emotional attachments to the men that surround her and will do anything for her to succeed, and though she’s still learning, she understands much more about herself and her unknown past. Nothing has been easy for her on this journey but she has held true to herself and that says a lot about her character in itself. She’s really amazing and you can’t help but like her and cheer her on.
The world-building is amazing, several scenes have you feeling like you’re there experiencing it all with Nyx and her siblings. Debbie’s attention to detail is great and definitely helps the worlds she writes come alive. The characters are all engaging in their own ways and their actions and deeds fit them. I love the few twists and turns that have been thrown in regarding the princes and their attitudes towards Nyx as well as some juicy bits that are exposed. There’s tons of danger, suspense, mystery, intrigue, snark and humor, and even some sorrow and tears. This is a series you definitely want to read in order for full effect and to follow along with the challenges the characters face along the way.
I could really jump into the mix with all the potential males and relationships but I don’t want to give anything away since that’s a huge part of the excitement of the story – exactly who she’ll end up with when there are so many potential interests that have drawn her eye and vice versa. There is one reveal that is shocking to the extent that it affects Nyx and her survival and ultimately what happens to her overall. This is also one of the things on the “you just get a tease – the rest will be revealed in the final book”. It’s all definitely edge-of-your-seat awesomeness and I cannot wait to see how Debbie finishes out Nyx’s epic story.
In Demon Gambit, we found out that a Shiqq had possessed Veena. It was using her to kill her siblings. She accepted the possession to save her family but didn’t want to keep killing after getting closer to her siblings. When Nyx brought the siblings together to confront her, the Shiqq let itself be known before it escaped. They decided to keep everything involving Veena under wraps until they could figure out what the Shiqq wanted. That’s when the real work began. They needed to request that the princes, Levistus, Merihem, and Ramiel, abolish the contracts and allow everyone to live if they survived the trials. Once in the demon realm, they found that something was wrong with Merihem, and there was a sense of being watched all around the palace. When Nyx presented the request to the princes, Merihem decided he wanted to test her bond with her siblings. Once she won his little game, Merihem’s daimon prisoner, Dhuma, stabbed Nyx. We pick back up in Demon Gate with Nyx being alive. It turns out that she isn’t a Nephilim. Nyx is half high daimon and half fallen angel. A being that should not exist, not because she is dangerous, but because it was believed to be impossible. They don’t know the kind of power she could possess, and that scares them. Once she awakens, she will have to fight for her right to exist. If Nyx is allowed to exist, she and her siblings will finish the trials. Will she survive to finish the trials? Who will win and become the new Satan? There is so much suspense in this installment of the Demons of Morningstar series. Debbie Cassidy is really keeping readers on their toes. It’s one thing after another, and cliffhangers are the worst! Not really. They only suck when you have to wait for the next book to come out. I’m so glad I found this series after all of them were available. I don’t think I could handle these cliffhangers if they weren’t. These books are keeping me up at night. I can’t put them down, and when I do, I can only think about what’s going to happen next. I love when I come across a series like this. It pulls you into the world and keeps you guessing. This series needs to be read in chronological order. You’ll miss key details and information if you don’t. If you’ve gotten this far, you already know if this book/series is for you. Just for fun, I’ll reiterate. If you enjoy fantasy worlds, suspense, action, and slow-burn romance, this series is definitely for you.
Fue increíble, simplemente increíble, me tenía súper enganchada y lo único que quería hacer era seguir leyendo y seguir leyendo. Me gustó mucho.
I received a free copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not, entirely my choice.
Hold on to your horses! The action starts with word 1, chapter 1 and it is a non-stop, roller-coaster thrill ride right up to the very end.
Nyx and her Satan Spawn family are still in the thick of things, with a secret about Nyk coming to light whereafter chaos reigns.
A character arrives at the proverbial last minute and even though he is known to us readers, there is a shocking revelation as to who and/or what he is.
However, this doesn't stop Nyx and she pushes on to protect her family and remains loyal to those she loves. She may have some difficult choices to make with regards to her love life, but her emotional attachments have deepened and this will affect the outcome.
Nyk and her family, and indeed, all the characters have definitely evolved and have a deeper definition to them. The entire book, characters and world, are so well defined now that you can actually see the the different scenes as if it was a real life picture/movie, and when something happens you feel it deep down as well, as if you were physically and emotionally there.
If the next book is even half as good as this one, then this series is one of the very few who have been able to blow my mind and imagination to smithereens.
A must read, and if you haven't started the series yet, don't delay, get it today!
I would like to state for the record, that never in over 1000 spicy books, 90% RH, have I ever been this undecided about the status of the harem for the FMC. I was undecided about Nyx before starting this book, and while I refuse to give specific details, I'm still glaring at my kindle app and wondering if my choices will change again.
Cassidy has somehow created an intense and plot heavy third book, and sprinkle in spice of every flavor be it chaste and wistful cheek kisses, or something with a very dominant and no barriers attitude. Demon Gate, like the previous books, gives us Nyx handling an issue that left us on a bereft emotional cliffhanger a few months ago. Cassidy's world building is superb as always. And I am reminded how good she is at weaving political plots and twists and turns when the storytelling is in the weeds. It would be easy to get lost in all the big action scenes and small moments where a few whispered words or glances can change the entire trajectory of the story. Yet I finished Demon Gate, and was hungry for more. I am invested in the absent Sin, standoffish Loke, passionate Ignatius, wistful Zepar, devoted Sev, and aloof Artimus. I have my own theories on the underhand dealings and whispered histories. And I have no doubt that this ends with Nyx kicking lots of a$$.
When blood proves stronger than the forces that try to tear it down. Nyx and her family face unknowable threats and uncertainty about how things are going to play out. But one thing is for certain family sticks together. Nyx’s bond with Ignatius went from smouldering to inferno. Artimus and Nyx sealed their attraction. Zepar and Nyx are still friendzoned. OMG, Dhuma is the perfect bodyguard. Sev, the nightmare, is loyal and supportive. WTH Sin just... what! I did not see that coming. Loke??? The cast in this book is vast, but they are alluring and entertaining. Form awesome bards to excellent sass. Debbie Cassidy words evoke the imagination. Demon Gate had me crying, screaming, and cheering loudly for these unforgettable characters. Gripping read. Tropes: Found family. Fated mate. Touch her and ☠️. Possessive MMC. Kickarse FMC. Why choose. Cliffhanger. Coming into power.
Quotes: “Yes, she commands that kind of loyalty without asking for it. It’s what makes her who she is.”
“If they take you from me, I’ll burn everything down. Everything and everyone. There won’t be anyone left to save, do you understand?”
When she’s with me, she’s mine. Wholly mine. I reign over her body and soul. I have her mind. And as long as that remains true, I’m happy to share.
Demon Gate is the third book in the Demons of Morningstar series and things are about to take a left turn and then a right, and then another left...and well, you just don't know where things are going to end up! Nyx is back, and then she's gone again! Stabbed, but the one who stabbed her? He promises that she'll return, because she's something more than they originally thought. Now? New problem, but honestly, when is there not a problem to be dealing with? Well, the new problem is a big one, but if the guys play their cards right, they can hold off on the big problem drama...at least for a little while. This addition to the series hits the ground running and keeps you engaged from beginning to end. You just keep wondering...what is going to happen next? The author's skill at world and character development is absolutely spot on and I love how it keeps me page-turning to find out what happens next. Am I ready for the next book in this series? Need you ask!? The answer is yes! There were a few minor hiccups here and there, but nothing that I can really say - "that was terrible, and I hated it." I could have used a little more detail here and there but the book is really well written. Rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I really don't know how to start this review. I guess first of all I loved it! I feel like anything I say about the book will be a spoiler. What I can tell you is that she didn't die, or well I guess she did, but she isn't dead. Right at the start you get some really big bomb drops, that creates a whole domino effect to the rest of the book. This is what makes it a bit difficult to write a review. The book is filled with action, romance, friendships, and still so much mystery. I was honestly making notes for if I ever want to make my own adventure for a dungeons and dragons game with my family. I have done that from the first book of this series. I was thinking about why I do that with this book and not with any other book that I've read, and I think that it's because Nyx really works together with her siblings. We get plenty of scenes with them as well, and that's also why I don't see Nyx as a "special snowflake", because you don't get moments where she goes; "I have to do this alone, I am the only one capable of doing this". Plus I like the bond with her siblings, there is no backstabbing or anything else like that.
So all in all, I loved it and can't wait till the next one comes out.
“There was something wrong with me. Depraved and hungry…I didn’t have the energy to fight it.” This. Book!! The opening will have you absolutely glued, but it gets even better! So many bombs and mic drops and ‘they didn’t say what I think they did did they’ type moments! My favorite character this book was Ignatius - not only do I enjoy learning more about his relationship and interaction with Nyx but he is just the epitome of the perfect book boyfriend!! We also get the return of someone who I enjoyed before but now has a whole new level of alphahole vibe and I’m definitely here for it!! Literally ‘she’s the only one who matters eff everyone else’ vibes!! I love the way these stories weave and the possibility of multiverse theories - it is so exciting looking for potential Easter eggs! We get similar action/puzzle vibes as before with some edge of your seat moments as well as some quirky humor. A thrilling read with a fantastic ending point that propels us into the next installment. A definite you can’t miss read!
I never want this series to end! The fight to fill Satan's throne is still on and things are getting dicey. The standout theme in this series is the relationship between Nyx and her siblings. They were forced together as strangers, from completely different worlds, but their conscious effort to bridge that divide and become a real family is something I love to watch unfold. Family first is a moto that runs through every bit of this series. That being said, Nyx's guys are still setting the pages aflame. We also have the return of someone we haven't seen since book 1 that brings the spicy level off the charts. While chemistry between the sheets is a big plus for me, I really enjoyed how we also get to see a more personally side of some of the guys in this book, most specifically Ignatius. The writing and world building are top notch, as always. Word of warning, this was not a tear free book so be prepared to get into your feelings a bit. Also, the ending is a major cliffhanger that left me screaming out for more. 100% recommend this book. It is amazing!
Well, first of all, I'd like to let you know that I am DYING for the next book (yeah, again) so if you are in a position to binge through these books, man do I envy you.
Debbie's books are amazing, but I have to say that of those I've read from her so far, THIS series is my favorite. Idk what it is exactly, but everyone in this series has a serious hold on my mind and heart. Nyx is fantastic as ever in this book, and be ready for more surprises, near-death (like, REALLY near death) experiences and adventures, more love, and, of course, wicked cliffhangers that you want to hate but mostly just leave you sitting in awe of the author's writing/storytelling capabilities.
Once the books are all out I may just need to find the funds to gift myself with physical copies of the whole series. This is definitely one that's complex enough to warrant more than one read-through! I'm already so excited to go through the series again! (But not as excited as I am for the next book to release... I'm counting down the days!!!)
This series was highly recommended by a book influencer that I follow and being a RH paranormal romance I had to dive straight in. I really enjoyed this series with it's vivid world building, engaging characters, found family, various paranormal 'species', banter, romance and spice. There were a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming which is always great. The FMC was strong and feisty, and I loved the way she brought her family together with the varying personalities. The MMCs were charismatic, engaging and sexy. There were a couple of things that bugged me though... I wish there had been more romance (and spice), it seemed that area suffered to fit in all the plot points and action. To me it seemed like most of the romance was with one MMC in particular, and yet another MMC was left in the 'wings' for ages. I would have loved if they were together as a group earlier with more romance peppered throughout t he story. Overall, however, I did really enjoy this series and will be checking out more books by this author.
“If I die, they’re all that’s left of me. They’re a part of me. My blood. My family. If anything happens to me, I need you to watch over them. Because while you have them, you have me.”
Nyx is the ultimate heroine, as she continues to forge her path in Debbie Cassidy’s Demon Gate, book 3 in the Demons of Morningstar series.
As Nyx draws the Satan’s Spawn together as a cohesive family unit, the unplanned attraction to her men also continues to grow. There are so many levels of action and intrigue, it takes concentration to follow the ups and downs of this story. Loyalty and lust are prevalent, as well as sacrifice and love.
But your effort shall be rewarded, when this strong willed group continues to climb toward their ultimate goal. Just when you believe you have this storyline sorted, Cassidy creates a turn-off that leads us all down a different path.
Passing a test? Rewarded by death... but is it? Nyx's life is turned upside down more that often, yet this revelation might shock her more than anything before, even learning that she is demon spawn. And the revelation might be more dangerous than anything. Coming back to life changed, Nyx is treated as a threat and called an abomination, being pushed around as a pawn on chessboard by those who want to retain power. However, now she has a power of her own, and enough allies to back her up. I absolutely love the books by this author. Any of them. The writing is brilliant, each series a new masterpiece, with a new and exciting world worth exploring and deep-diving, and this series is no exception. There is a lot of action and adventure, amazing cast of characters with varying personalities and steep development, and breath-taking plot twists. I cannot wait for the next book to come my way after that cliffhanger.
Kindle. Close to two stars based on personal preferences.
I really struggled to finish this book it completely lost my attention. The side plots hindered the overall development which in general was super slow. I didn’t like the inconsistency with the different MMC’s some just disappear for a while not my reading preference. Relationship development was slow and inconsistent. Even though a lot was going on I found the majority of the book boring and skimmed over a bunch. I think it just had too much going on that a lot got lost. Too many stray side plots along with point of view characters lost direction, momentum and was repetitive. Personally I found the family insta connection a little annoying.
I think it had potential and had fun points that I was like “ooo” but in general it had too much going on with too little development and just wasn’t for me. Would love the HEA but not interested in finishing series.
