Why survive the apocalypse when you can become the apocalypse?

Nature is dying, but perhaps before the world is turned into an industrious machine nature itself can play one final trump card to save itself.

Summoned to a new world, a mushroom loving mycologist needs to grow up and grow stronger in order to accomplish the goal which brought them to this new place: to save nature from the system that the sentient races have created.

Stats, levels, classes and skills are all well and good, but when you’re a Child of Poverty in the slums of City Nineteen, there’s little you can do to change the world. Not unless you’re willing to think outside the box!

i need more of these

You ever finish a book and just end up so angry and sad?

I bought sporemageddon by ravensdagger and it was so good and i inhaled the book and when i finished it there was no second book published yet. i was so upset that i couldn't immediately read more of this really great mushroomy book. i also love unions.

the feeling i felt after i finished the book reminded me of how sad and depressed i would feel after hanging out with my gf. we would hang out and i would be happy and then she would go home and for a bit i would just be so sad.

anyway, ravensdagger, please stay safe and maintain your health so i can read more of your books.

Thanks

Do you like leveling up characters? Snarky kids? Stories where someone knows they have been reincarnated in a new world (very anime-like)? Do you like LAUGHING?

This story had all the fun, and heart. Ravensdagger is an amazing author and I would like to consume everything they've written.

Sporetastic

A fun read, and well written. I enjoyed every chapter and can't wait for the next book. Made me think about how bad the industrial revolution of our own world was.

Darker than the normal RavensDagger stories I'm used to (Dead Tired 1, Cinnamon Bun), with aspects that remind me more of Thundamoo's writings, especially Bioshifter: Volume 1. I enjoyed watching the nameless MC grow up--but the fact that she was an adult with a whole life in a baby's body added a lot of start-up tension. I was further glad that that was addressed, but not solved yet. The setting adds more tension--industrial slums with power imbalance--but the old-for-her-age little kid becoming a mushroom entrepreneur includes plenty of cozy moments. Dark moments abound as well, and I'm very curious to see how the MC will combat them.

A story about an adult female scientist from earth who is reincarnated as a baby with magic in another world, striving to rise above her unfortunate lot in life.

Lately I've been seeking out rare fantasy stories with unique plots, worlds, and/or magical systems; and Sporemageddon was the perfect find. I loved that it had everything I listed above (plots, worlds, etc.) and they were well-crafted. I also really liked the characters, the relationships, the acquaintances and all of the themes that were explored. Last, I was fully invested in the ongoing class struggles and issues surrounding that, as well as both the Goddess's and our heroine's plans for retribution.

My only criticsm is that the effects of this dystopian society could have had more emotional appeal. However it was still very clearly and convincingly a dystopia. I'm so excited for the next book and I hope it'll be published soon!

4.5 stars!

Ravens Dagger writes cozy LitRPGs. This almost didn't feel cozy, honestly.

It's set in a pretty dystopian feeling Industrial Revolution world. The MC and her family are pretty poor and downtrodden. The MC is reincarnated from Earth (if I remember correctly), into a newborn baby.

Story covers life from birth to around age 8-10 I think, and her burgeoning skills as a mushroom farmer.

It's a very interesting story/world, but I felt more tension than I usually do from Ravens Dagger stories.

Need to get back to this... haven't read #2, and #3 came out recently...

I didn't expect to like this so much, I'm not particularly into mushrooms myself but appreciated her enthusiasm. A few parts were maybe a bit slower than the rest, and the general atmosphere is quite bleak (even if she does have good friends and a loving family), but I still enjoyed reading it and barely felt the time pass.

The cover is maybe a little misleading as the protagonist goes from 0 to about 6 years old in this first volume, a baby with the brain of an adult scientist though so she rarely acts like a child and I keep forgetting how young she is supposed to be.

I love the pro-union, pro-mushroom nerding bent to this ~industrial revolution era (but fantasy world) series so far.

& After that ending, I am right there with our little MC ready to get less cozy and more violent in book 2. Dad's factory... did WHAT?! BURN IT DOWN. BURN THEM ALL DOWN. WITH MUSHROOMS (somehow..)! Off to book 2 immediately!

So entertaining

I really loved this, distopian futures and gods are my favorite themes. My only problem is it ended to soon!

It has a well thought out world and good progression
