I am absolutely entranced with this world. I understand that this is a story that was previously on a chapter by chapter app & I am glad to be able to read it outside of one of those. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Cordelia! The cliffhanger has me not so patiently waiting for part two! Please come soon 🤩

This book is very unique and leaves you on your toes. You get pulled into the actions right away. I felt very connected to the main character like I was going on this journey with her learning who to trust and trying to piece together what is happening! It’s also a pretty quick read which can be nice sometimes! I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the second book!

This book does not waste time and I love it. The book drops you right into the action, taking only a little time to talk about what lead to the action. I loved the pictures throughout the book because it really enhanced the reading. The characters were well written and have depth. The ending left me dying for the next book. It's hard to go wrong with this little novella. Fantasy, intrigue, romance—what's not to love? The Dropped Stitch doesn't waste any time, and the action begins right from the first page. The main character, Cordelia, is clever and spirited as she navigates the fae realm, and learns who she can trust...and who she can't. It ends with a well crafted cliff hanger. I can't wait for the next one!

4.5 out of 5 stars!

"So I ran in whatever direction took me farthest from the horrific scene that was once my life. . ." - Cordelia

Being forced to run away from her home, no longer being allowed to live a "simple" life again. Cordelia runs, though every part of her wants to stay. Yet if she had remained what could she have done in the face of the terrifying monster? Cordelia finds herself having odd sensations and suddenly being surrounded by unknown territory.

Finding herself in the Fae Realm unbelievably. But how did she get her? Everyone, including Cordelia, are trying to figure this out and possibly a way of getting her home. Only some wish for Cordelia to stay even if the Fae Realm view humans a bit differently. Cordelia has things she must take care of in her own realm, not wishing to tell the truth of why she was injured or the events leading up to this point.

Trying to move past the grief and return to the life she was forced from. Yet these Fae seem to really like her and wish to protect her. One particular Fae she finds a real friend in. While another's given her the beautiful nickname of "Rabid Fox". But the Fae who helped to calm her mind is something else, causing her to have doubt of returning home.

Cordelia wanted a loving, simple life with her family. Now she's on a new path, one she never expected to be on. Hiding her true identity and past for fear of what could come of the truth. Not trusting her "new" life or the people within it, for good reason with one. Cordelia's a strong, curvy, fighter, and an independent woman thanks to her father's teaching. But sweet and caring thanks to her mom.

There were a lot of flashbacks in the beginning but continue the read! It will make sense as to why she has them. I loved the mystery around Cordelia and her family. I hope to see more and some answers as well. Enjoyed her feistiness especially with the Fae who calls her a Rabid Fox. And the first meeting she had with the one who calmed her mind. . .was hysterical.

This read also has illustrations! I was very surprised and happy when I "turned" the page on my Kindle and found one. Love illustrations in books. They weren't completely detailed out so you could insert your image of the characters and the scenes. But I loved having a little bit of a baseline.

I loved Nelo! And even though she had some tragedy in her life, she didn't hold grudges and could move forward. She's a great balancer for Cordelia. Also enjoying how some characters are not what they seem on the surface. Little hints about things. . .

This was a story that had been featured on Kindle Villa, now it is put together in three parts. So yes, there will be a big cliffhanger and a oh no, you did what?! Part two is right around the corner though! It is set to release in August and I will be snatching it up. I need to know what happens since this was only the beginning.

There's some trauma and grief within the book. Language and MF action, the author did put in some more trigger warnings but for the ENTIRE series. Just so you know what to expect within the parts to come, three parts total. This is going to be a slow burn with an age gap. But I mean Fae kind of out live humans by a LONG stretch. Now I'm going to go sulk a little bit about the main character and that cliffhanger.

Enjoy the first part of this magical, unpredictable adventure with twists and give the author some stars!

I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!

Cordelia is sent to another realm after the sudden death and destruction of her family and home. She is greeted by a cast of colourful characters and learns to adapt in this new world!

I rated this book 3.5 stars!
I loved Cordelia, felt like she was strong, a damsel but not in distress. the magic system the author created is unique and my fashionista self loves the connection. Vas and Nelo are intriguing characters and i can't wait to hear more of their back stories.

The writing style wasn't for me but I will still read the next one because the author has woven (haha, get it?) an intriguing story that leaves me wanting more!

So I'm going to write this and say as little as I possibly can because I do not want to give any spoilers or anything to the plot of the book.

This book was a very quick read for me and definitely was not my normal "style" of reading. I like fantasy types but I'm not always good at reading them. (I know I'll get shit for this but I NEVER finish ACOTAR, like didn't even make it past chapter 4 of book 1 ANYWAY!)

The FMC's determination to get home and avenge her family is amazing. Definitely going to be reading the 2nd and 3rd just to finish the story and see how it all comes together because my interest is DEFINITELY peaked with this story!

Petra!! Wow! Who are you?

What a great novella!

Fantastic use of imagery to conjure up Cordelia and her adventures in the Fae world.

Just when I thought this was a 'childrens' book, along came the well scribed adult scene! Sexy.

I liked the different narrations midway through the book. Being such a short book, the perspectives were a nice touch.

I am looking forward to being immersed in how this plays out.

Best read sipping on Mead in an alley behind a butcher shop.😉

Many thanks to Book Sirens for this ARC in exchange for my review!

I received a free advance copy for review. I adored the descriptive nature of the writing. The accompanying drawings were a welcome surprise too! Cordelia is put into an impossible situation. You feel the full range of her emotions as she struggles against the confines of her new reality. I loved the contrast of Orthus and Vasielios and the mystery of their intentions. I also enjoyed the change of POV for one chapter.
Can’t wait to see what Petra brings out next in this series!

I really wanted to get into this book, but I just could not. For me, there seemed to be a lot of unnecessary ramblings. I found myself having to restart paragraphs or sections several times in order to refocus as my mind would start skimming over the passage instead of retaining the words. For a book that should be a quick read based on it's length, it took me longer than expected.

What I did enjoy is the basis of the storyline. It felt a little like the beginning of ACOTAR, down to the seasonal courts. I loved ACOTAR which is actually why I picked to read this book.

Will I read the next one? Probably, because I like to know how things end, but I'm not counting down the days until it's released.

Pulled a double between last night / this morning finishing two shorter books.
This one is requested and acquired an arc of and the review is entirely my own thoughts.

It’s the start of a novella serial, so it’s clocking in around 170 ish pages on the shorter side, but you get enough ground work with the world and characters to sorta drag you in and peak some interest for it. It’s also got awesome little art pieces scattered throughout the story and I loved having those little visuals added in, sorta like having yourself a picture book within an “ya / adult novel” and that always excites me. How often with novels past a certain age group can you say has art for the story in it? Wish I could say more.
The authors writing style is clear and precise, not overly info dumping but has a set amount of it that has to be tossed down for visual aiding.
Our leading lady is strong willed yet has some lingering quirks of insecurity.
Not going to devel in and spoil too much on this as I feel even I haven’t read enough to criticize the plot too much maybe by the second installment I’ll have a clearer understanding and some issues be ironed out.

This is a fairly quick read, one that i really enjoyed. I am definitely looking forward to book 2 and seeing what happens after that ending, and seeing if Cordelia manages what she set out to do, or if all that changes with the new cloak that was woven. Thankfully its not long till book 2!

Ima start with what I enjoyed about this book. The cover is stunning 😍 and I really enjoyed the scene illustrations that were captured throughout the book. It added a great visual to what I was already picturing.
.
I think this book has a great, unique take on magic and how it is literally stitched into clothing! I've never read a book with this concept in it before so, kudos to Petra for that! 👏
.
But I do have to say, something just didn't quite land for me. I didn't feel a connection to the story or any of the characters like I hoped. It just felt kinda of...on the surface, for me.
.
Another thing that really stood out to me were some inconsistencies and repetativeness in the story. Now, as an indie author, with a first edition book that was chock-full of errors, i know it happens and I'm not a picky reader when it comes to some formatting glitches or typos. But when it comes to the story, it really throws me off.
.
The map is depicted completely different than its described.
.
Eyes of characters changing colors.
.
At one point in a dinner, they're eating venison, then it turns to rabbit, and then back to venison.
.
In one scene, a boy buttons her top but then in the next paragraph she buttons her own top. Just a lot of misses that made it a little harder for the story to flow for me.
.
Again, as an indie author, I know how hard it is to do everything so, as much as it pains me to be a bit more on the negative side, I have to be honest with those of you who read my reviews.
.
And as every reader should, experience the book for yourself and don't just take my word for it!

The Dropped Stitch: Transportation is a quick read coming in under 150 pages, but what the author accomplished in that short time was impressive. I didn't realize I was at the end until it smacked me in the face with a giant cliffhanger and I'm still upset about choices that were made in those last few pages. 😂 Unlike most of my fantasy reads, this one doesn't contain romance (yet🤞). I have a candidate in mind for the love interest and I'm hoping it pans out because I love them already. It is definitely a darkish fantasy and I like the spin put on the veil between where our heroine ends up and where she came from. Plenty of questions left unanswered and I'm hoping to see part two in August. 🙃

⭐️5/5

✔️Strong FMC

✔️Morally grey man of interest

✔️Bending the concept of the passage of time

✔️Magic🔮

The Dropped Stitch - Transportation blew me away, it is such a fun and magical read. From the very first page you are thrown into action with Cordelia when the unimaginable happens forcing her to flee, running in any direction so she can escape what is behind her ultimately transporting her to the fae realm.

This does give off ACOTAR vibes, which I loved so no complaining there. I love that this is a fast paced read coming in at about 150 pages, which the author did manage to cram full of details and worldbuilding. About halfway through you are given the perspectives of other characters, which adds a nice touch. I am looking forward to book 2 as this end in a cliffhanger leaving me questioning what is going to happen next!

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The first of a trilogy of novellas, "Transportation" sees Cordellia reliving past experiences in her previous world while trying to navigate her situation and characters in her current world. The presentation is thoughtful and enjoyable to read. I admit I spent a bit of time trying to define her previous world, as far as time period, based on the descriptions given and comparing them to Cordellia's speech.

I don't know why but it always seems to bother me when I can't pinpoint where they were ( that's NOT a problem with the book that's a me problem). I think that this is a good start and that the rest of the trilogy is going to be worth while. I sped through this book because it is a bit on the shorter side, but that doesn't detract from the story itself.

If you enjoy short, fast-paced fantasy novellas, check out The Dropped Stitch by Petra Palerno. Palerno has mentioned that this novella was first released in episodes/ chapters on kindle vella, which is why it is a shorter book. This book is also part one of a series. However, more details could have been added, and the length could have been expanded. The world Palerno creates is a fae realm to which her character, Cordelia, is magically taken to. After being attacked by a mysterious monster, Cordelia finds herself in the land of Aidor in the fae court of summer. She wishes to return to the human world to get revenge on the monster who attacked her family. Cordelia is a strong female character, and she isn’t naïve.

The Summer King Orthus offers to help her, but the way back takes a special kind of dark magic. Throughout the novella, Cordelia is drawn to the king, though there isn’t much romance. Cordelia is a strong female character, and she isn’t naïve. She decides not to trust anyone in the fae realm. The king’s half-brother, Vas, also dislikes her, but he is also hiding secrets. Two of the chapters in this book are from his point of view, while the rest of the chapters are narrated by Cordelia. This change in narrator was surprising, but Vas’s point of view revealed some interesting plot points that will probably continue into the next book.

Artwork was peppered throughout the chapters, which was something I’d never seen before in a fantasy novel/novella. There was so much of the world that could have been expanded on, which could have been an edit from the kindle vella version to the novel version. There were also a few times when the verb tenses skipped around and were inconsistent. Overall, this series has potential. The world is fascinating, and there are a few cliffhangers and hints of things to come in the rest of the series.

Something about this book doesn't feel right. It has such a great concept behind it but for me it feels not well communicated. Some of the story lines simply don't come together.

The characters lack a certain depth, if you were in the same situation as the main character I don't think you would be so blazé about the whole situation. To me what makes a great story is to make it believable, even if it's fantasy, you need to make your reader believe that this story is real.

I felt that the exchanges between the characters where strange....no one talks to anyone like that, especially if they are strange creatures from another realm.

I don't mean this as discouragement because there is the essence of a great story here. I personally think it could be written better

3.5 stars. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book was really good and I do not think the length affected it at all and I am very glad its more books. The plot was good and I loved the use of flashbacks. I liked all the different characters roles and I like the world building a lot of books over explain but this book didn’t do that which was refreshing. Overall really enjoyed nice fast read very excited to see what happens in the next book.

Cordelia is a strong but with some trauma young woman that resonated with me so quickly that I was a little shocked. The beauty of the worlds that Petra creates ignited my imagination, and the mysteries left me wanting more all along the way ending in a cliffhanger that made me thankful I got to read this close to the release of the second part.

The main cast will make you wonder what their motives are, want to scream at them and want to hold them sometimes, ALL at the same time.

An amazingly fun read, and I CAN'T wait to learn more about these characters and the world AND GET SOME ANSWERS!!!

This is the first instalment of a planned trilogy. Cordelia has been transported into a Fae World. She wants to go home and find the monster that killed her parents. The fae don't believe they can send her back safely so she may be stuck there.

It was an okay book, mainly setting up the framework for the series. Some parts I found a little confusing but hopefully things will fall into place and are explained in the future books.

I truly did want to get into this book, but I just could not. I don't know if maybe the author's writing style is just not for me. There seemed to be a lot of unnecessary ramblings. I would find myself skimming over pages.

I did enjoy is the basis of the storyline. It had an ACOTAR feel to it.

Will I read the next one? TBH I don't think so.

This book was so beautiful from the cover, to the prose, to the delicate illustrations within! I loved Cornelia's hesitation and distrust of the fae because it was a unique premise from all of my recent reads. The flashbacks to the past were hypnotic and a great way to give more backstory about the MC. The author handled tough subjects very delicately and left it on the perfect cliff hanger! I can't wait for the next one!

Cordelia finds herself running for her life. She ends up in a fairy world and is now having to find a way to either go home or stay. You get a glimpse of what this world is like as this is first novella in a series. There are picture drawing scattered in through out the book which help you visualize the story in your mind.

Now, to wait for book two in the series./

I love a good fae/human pairing so this was an immediate download for me. I really enjoyed the character’s names and the cover. That’s a compliment I rarely give.

To my understanding, this is a novel released in three separate parts? I think I would have preferred it all together in one, but I’m definitely downloading the second.

This book was amazing! The author's writing and plot for the whole book drew me in at the very beginning. She wrote a great plot and the character development was amazing as well. Definitely a book I will reread in the future! A must read for a lover of paranormal and those that are particularly drawn to Fae stories! Can't wait to read the 2nd book!
