A rare potion was stolen from a castle. Who did it? Only YOU can figure it out.
Take a peek inside Hailey Haddie’s case log of 15 mysteries and join the fun of investigating the crimes!
I’d put these in the age range of 8-12 primarily but my husband and I had a complete blast reading these! Really had to get our noodles cooking to figure some of these out!
There are 15 short cases - took me about 2 minutes to read each case. Each case has two hints, and harder one and then easier one. Answers are in the back of the book. Easy enough on KU to homo back and forth w the hyperlink and KU “back to page” function.
I’d definitely buy this as a gift, if for my kids when they get a little older. It’s fun to do alone, in pairs, or a group!
This was a fun selection of mystery stories, each of which take minutes to read. To me, they felt like an abbreviated version of the Encyclopedia Brown books I used to love reading. While a couple of them were obscure, I was able to figure out most of them immediately, but I think the book would be a great source of short mysteries that kids could play at a birthday party or something along those lines. The book even has a suggestion for using the stories in this book that way. Some of the stories include fantastical creatures such as cyclops or vampires, while others are just people. Regardless, each story is a quick mystery that 8-11-year-olds would enjoy trying to solve. This would be a fun book to have in an elementary/middle school reading nook or the waiting room in a pediatric medical office.
Terrific brain teasers for middle grade (or above) readers. These fifteen stories provide the clues needed for Hailey Haddie to solve the mysteries and also offer readers the chance to do the same. Similar to Sobol's Encyclopedia Brown and Two-Minute Mysteries series. Readers have the chance to read the story then go back and find the clues offered. Answers are given at the back of the book. Great short story to share with classes to encourage listening and processing skills.
Cute, short brain teasers. Each read was short and to the point. The questions following were thought provoking. I can see where the party games at the back would be fun with a crowd of friends.
A fun and fantastical series of stories that is as enjoyable for the adult (done as a read aloud) as for the kid (prob 8-12yo range) in stimulating creative thinking. The out-of-the-box ideas each story generates is fabulous!! A series of short stories that also might help a reluctant reader (like mine). Hailey is an engaging protagonist and the hints are very helpful. Will buy more books by this author. Highly recommend.
These are fun to read when you just have a few minutes for each story. Just wish the conclusions were at the end of each story and not at the back of the book. Back of the book works well with print books as it's easy to flip back and forth. Not so easy with an eBook.
These short stories would,be good for middle graders. They were I interesting, short and sweet and if you paid attention you could solve them with the, clues given.
